@LadyCatStark

Found the sign I need for Billy’s lead 😂
That's ace
GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2021 19:08

Hahahaha I need one of those too!!
To be fair to him we had a lovely national trust wander out today. He had his lunch scatter fed & chilled in the sun while I had my soup in a takeaway cup and we walked around the park. It was bliss!!

I'm too tired to tackle the sleep thing. Might start Thursday night then it's just Friday to battle through and then I have the weekend to snooze through the lack of sleep!

GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2021 19:11

Poser!!

After all the threats of changing food.....his 💩 is totally fine yesterday and today. Mystified!

Speaking of 💩

Are your pups' poos always hard/firm?
Newboy produces about 40% runny poos.
Is this normal or should they be 100% firm?

Aria20 · 02/11/2021 19:22

@Camper82 thank you x and I agree so much easier to do training when kids aren't around to distract/confuse!! How old is your pup?

I def think pups are like children either good sleepers or not...my children always needed me to sit with them while they got to sleep - almost 4yo still does but she told me when she's 4 she won't lol roll on Saturday then!

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/11/2021 19:29

@GuyFawkesDay remember it’s fireworks this weekend… don’t know if that will knock your sleep plans?

@BaconAndAvocado yes they are all firm and pickupable…PoirotPup eats better than we do though and it isn’t cheap!!

Aria20 · 02/11/2021 19:38

@BaconAndAvocado I'd say 95% firm and the odd one is a little softer - perhaps after certain treats or if she's done a lot of running around seems to make it softer!! She goes twice a day, occasionally a third time if she has an extra walk!

Camper82 · 02/11/2021 19:40

Loving all the pup pictures!

The afternoon on his own was a success Grin He came to work for a visit this morning too and everyone loves him.

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse he is 14 weeks

@LadyCatStark love the lead! Seems to fit a lot of our pup at the minute…

We slept on the kitchen sofa for a week when we first got pup, then moved the crate in our room for a week when we couldn’t cope on the sofa. After that he had a night of crying, then was ok. He wakes around 4 for the toilet, then between 5/6 for the day. Feel very lucky that he is good with it, the dc were not good sleepers, one is still up at least once a night at 7yo.

Aria20 · 02/11/2021 19:50

Just wanted to thank you all for your kind words and support over the last few days and for encouraging me not to doubt my pup!

I spoke to the behaviourist my trainer recommended today and she was lovely and reassured me that I do not have an aggressive puppy and that just because she has bitten once in a particular situation with an obvious and understandable trigger it does not mean she will again and also that it was clearly just a warning snap that caught my daughter wrongly as if she had wanted to really bite her then she would have and the outcome would have been very different and the fact being not a single mark was left shows it wasn't a proper bite. I said it was on me for not intervening sooner in their play and we discussed that from now on all interactions between dd and pup will be structured either playing together fetch or a long tug toy, or dd helping teach pup tricks and giving pup treats as we already do and obviously proper active supervision or separate them.

She also told me to use words like "implementing strategies" to my husband as men love that sort of thing (sorry if any men on the thread it's a bit sexist!) but it worked lol I told DH about the strategies I'd be implementing to ensure an incident doesn't happen again and also offered him to speak to the behaviourist himself for reassurance (knew he wouldn't) and he's agreed she's not normally an aggressive puppy so he'll give her the benefit of doubt this time but if it ever happens again she'll be gone, which is fair enough. So I'm happy with that and I will be super vigilant from now on!

Thanks all xx

GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2021 19:57

Oh that is good news 😊

Camper82 · 02/11/2021 20:02

That’s great news @Aria20!

Turquoisesol · 02/11/2021 20:22

Oh that’s great news aria20! I love that the behaviourist has a special way to speak to the men folk to win them over! I can imagine it working too! Hopefully all will be good from now on. I hadn’t really appreciated just how much effort is required with integrating puppies and children before we had a puppy of our own.

BaconAndAvocado · 02/11/2021 20:31

Really pleased for you Aria20 ☺️

Regarding Newboy's poos, think I need to look into why we have so many runny ones.

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/11/2021 20:41

@Aria20 glad you’ve got a plan - I can hear the relief in your post x

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 02/11/2021 21:03

Great news @Aria20

Pup has had about 4 runny poos this evening.... he has 70% softish poo and 28% firm with 2% requiring a hose to clear!!

DD home with a drain attached to the wound site. Keeping pup from jumping on her is a challenge. She's currently behind a barricade of furniture and laundry airers.

Aria20 · 02/11/2021 21:08

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse glad your daughter is home and hope she recovers quickly without the pup pouncing on her!

Aria20 · 02/11/2021 21:11

@Turquoisesol lol yes I did have a chuckle when she said about using those words and I told my son what she'd said too as he'd been so worried about having to give pup up and he was really impressed and agreed those words would definitely persuade him as they sound important and official lol and like the sort of words dad uses at work Grin

Aria20 · 02/11/2021 21:14

@MrsHerculePoirot so relieved, feel like I can enjoy pup again. I felt so sad for her that if I was going to have to rehome her she wouldn't even get one last decent off lead run in the park with her dog pals due to her season! Hopefully once her season is over I can get her recall back on track so she can run free!

LadyCatStark · 02/11/2021 21:54

@Aria20 so glad you got sorted, well done you and your behaviourist!

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse hope your DD is ok!

cheeseisthebest · 02/11/2021 21:58

That's great news! And yes makeme hope your daughter is ok

cheeseisthebest · 02/11/2021 22:09

Cheesepup having his first night in DS bedroom. Think he's bit confused thoug. He's had quite a few different sleeping arrangements!

GuyFawkesDay · 02/11/2021 22:18

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse hope your DD recovers quickly xx

LadyCatStark · 03/11/2021 08:30

I think we’re definitely on full on adolescence 🙈. Anyone got any ideas for stopping Billy from jumping on the sofa. It’s constant, I can’t even sit down for a few seconds without having to get him off again. He’s got things to play with, I ridiculously over praise him when he goes on his bed, he has his own sofa that he can go on that’s totally different to the main sofas so I don’t think he’s confused, I get him off consistently every single time so I don’t know why he’s not getting it!

tizwozliz · 03/11/2021 09:53

Dropped OH off at the hospital this morning then stopped for a walk on the way back. Pup was a pain, pulling like mad when on the lead, chased a deer (although quickly gave up), recall was ok but not interested in following any other instruction. No idea how to get her to pay attention, acting like a childrens tv presenter just turns her into a loopy jumping kangaroo. I'm not looking forward to the start of our training course on Friday.
