The foghorn is sounding frequently and I suspect that's why I'm up enjoying the ambience of a foggy garden at 4am.

Hoping @BaconandAvocado is fast asleep and all the others with wide awake pups.

Just popping in to say hello and see the new pups. Ldpup is 10 months now- and a star. We've only recently started leaving her on her own in the house - and so far she's been great.

Here too!

GuyFawkesDay · 28/09/2021 14:01

@Lifeishitsometimes I hear you! My house is a tip, the dog is destroying my clothes and I have more work than I can feasibly do 😩

tizwozliz · 28/09/2021 14:16

I was just contemplating whether I can risk buying new clothes. I don't think Ada's put a hole in anything for at least 10 days...

TerrierOrTerror · 28/09/2021 14:41

TerrorPup was an absolute Terror on her walk last night. Pulling nearly constantly (her LLW is amazing usually), constantly searching for cats (which she is fine with normally), jumping at us and just being a right PITA. Definitely need to work on walking in the dark or winter is going to be painful.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 28/09/2021 14:46

Anyone watching my LLW training this morning would have heard me muttering fucking HEEL you bastard mutt repeatedly. I doubt he could understand because the animosity snaking through the lead must have been high and he was probably shut down 😳😭 I am ashamed fwiw

I do believe I referred to mine as twatpup earlier as he insisted on wrapping the loose line round a tree and as I unwrapped he just went the other way 🙈

He's also growling and barking at nothing (the wind?!) in the back garden. Twatpup by name....

duvetdrama · 28/09/2021 15:39

Our pup is also barking at everything today- leaves, wind etc etc. DH has not managed to get any work done due to her looking for attention 😬 she's 6 months....teenage behaviour??

Mumofsend · 28/09/2021 16:15

The thread title really resonated after being summoned to the garden at 4.15am in the pouring rain today. Here is my little sleepthief and 5.5 months old

GuyFawkesDay · 28/09/2021 16:23

Yep, FawkesPup decided he wanted the loo at 4:30am. I closed the door behind him and waited for him to get done 🤣

LadyCatStark · 28/09/2021 16:27

It was my first day back at work today after WFH for over 18 months! 😃 Billy was quite happy to sleep in his crate and o was only out for 3 hours in total with an hour at home for lunch. My colleague came home for lunch with me and we had fish and chips and Billy enjoyed some fish. He wasn’t ready to get up when I got home 😂. He’s not happy about the weather as it’s been pouring for the last 2 days non stop. He’s alternating between snuggling on his sofa and whining mournfully at the patio doors. I think he needs a poo but he won’t go outside except for a quick wee.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 28/09/2021 16:41

Chucking down here and I think it's the cause of his behaviour tbh. He's been non stop bitey, attacking our terrier and just ranging around looking for trouble. (Either that or emotionally challenged by me muttering obscenities at him this morning)

Just taken him to the river for splashy walk. He's now asleep but making bad smells and I have to prepare food for a big family dinner. I'm exhausted

@LadyCatStark was Billy closed in or voluntary in crate and was he alone? I can't imagine achieving 3 hours out of the house. 8 can't manage 10 minutes of peace sat on the sofa today

OP posts:
LadyCatStark · 28/09/2021 17:01

Closed in and yes he was alone but not for 3 hours in one go, for 2 then an hour out then one. He is quite happy to be left for 3 hours though. After lunch, he went back in of his own accord so obviously wasn’t ready to have been bothered by us coming back for lunch, even with a stranger in the house 😂. Usually he has to be lured in with a treat even when you can tell he’s thinking, “Oh thank god what took you so long to put me in here?” He’s a big fan of his crate though! And of sleeping today apparently, I think it’s the weather.

tizwozliz · 28/09/2021 17:34

We're still having interrupted nights (one wake up normally) but that's the only irritation right now. I'm back to work next week after 3 months off but not expecting any issues, a couple of 10 min training sessions through the day and a walk at lunch and she'll snooze or amuse herself the rest of the time.

We've booked ourselves onto a pet gundog course starting in November, unfortunately couldn't get a weekend slot but better than nothing.

Doing a lot of work with loose lead walking. I think we've probably not been as consistent as we should with not moving forward without a loose lead. Difficult when you're trying to get to a place for an off lead runaround, as the danger is we'd never make it that far in half an hour!

MsAwesomeDragon · 28/09/2021 18:07

AwesomePup has been back to daycare today. Apparently he whined when the daycare owner left him with her assistant while she went to the loo, lol. He's decided she's a good surrogate for me when he's there. And he slept in a pile of puppies again, although they had to have 3 beds pushed together because he likes to stretch out. He's now happily settled down with his ostrich bone, which is definitely the best treat he's ever been given in his life!!

GuyFawkesDay · 28/09/2021 18:16

Oh my god, ostrich bones are magic.
I tried giving FawkesPup his before I went out on school run. Normally he whines at the door for a few minutes before giving up and going into the study with DH. Didn't even bother today. Same later when I took kids to dentist.

So tomorrow I'll give it home before I leave and DH can take it away/give if he needs to leave him whilst he showers etc and see if it's the key to a settled chap who associates his bone with people going and turn a negative association positive.

If it works I'm signing up for an ostrich bone subscription 🤣🤣🤣

BaconAndAvocado · 28/09/2021 19:09

GuyFawkesDay could I give Newboy an ostrich bone? He's 12 weeks.

BaconAndAvocado · 28/09/2021 19:10

Feeling very hemmed in and a bit low today.......Newboy has been great though 🙂

GuyFawkesDay · 28/09/2021 19:30

@BaconAndAvocado yes, pack says from 12 weeks onwards. It's a hunky great big thing, will take mine AGES to get through I reckon!!!

Wolfcub · 28/09/2021 19:30

Wolfpup has been a total pain in the arse today. Serves me right for relaxing last week and thinking what a brilliant dog he is. I also think he's limping. No one else does but j think he has a very slight limp and what possibly loooks like a sore toe

sandwiches77 · 28/09/2021 19:34

GuyFawkesDay where did you buy ostrich bones from? Bought ducks feet for sandwichpup, yuck!

Sandwichpup is forever sitting down on walkies, takes zillions of treats to get him walking. Anyone else experiencing this?

tizwozliz · 28/09/2021 19:39

@BaconAndAvocado - there's a whole world of chews that open up to you at 12 weeks - I think pretty much all JR stuff is suitable for 12 weeks onwards.

@sandwiches77 - can't help with the sitting down on walks, the only time Ada sits down on walks is if we ask her too ( and she doesn't do that 100% of the time either!)

GuyFawkesDay · 28/09/2021 20:09

@sandwiches77 my local Dobbies!

They have got a good dog section (& he can come in too!) and they'd had a restock since I last went a week or two ago. It was £11.96, which is odd cos they're £13 from JR themselves but I was happy with my bargain!!!

Looking at bigger collars for FawkesPup as he's growing so fast. Part of me wants to get a nice tan leather 'proper dog' one....part of me wants a bright teal one to match his short lead 🤣
