The foghorn is sounding frequently and I suspect that's why I'm up enjoying the ambience of a foggy garden at 4am.

Hoping @BaconandAvocado is fast asleep and all the others with wide awake pups.

MrsHerculePoirot
PoirotPup looks very pensive!

tizwozliz · 26/09/2021 17:34

@Random789 - love his eye patch.

Regarding jumping up at the worktop, we're rewarding four on the floor and encouraging settling on the mat whilst food prep is ongoing, she's normally fairly good but last night we cooked roast chicken though and all training went out the window. She had paws up on the worktop and trying to jump at the same time, then whining and jumping up at me etc.

Parents have been over today as it's my mum's birthday, pup reasonably well behaved. A bit over excited when they first arrived but soon calmed down. Now zonked out as didn't sleep whilst they were here and we had quite a long walk out plus a cafe stop.

Loved our first puppy training class tonight.
My teenager DD came with me, she's way better at listening and paying attention than I am!

Cheesedog was absolutely hilarious as when he was used as an example for recall he just ambled over in his usual laid back way. The woman thought he was hilarious, said he had a fab character.

Then got home and he was crazy, jumping and nipping so we did the raining down treats to settle on a mat for a bit and he's now asleep! They had taught it in the class today just like Mrs HP said!

Lifeishitsometimes · 26/09/2021 19:36

Beautiful!

cheeseisthebest · 26/09/2021 19:37

Lifestooshort what an adorable puppy. His eyes!

Lifeishitsometimes · 26/09/2021 19:40

Could I ask please, anyone with a medium-large breed pup: how much were they sleeping in the day at around 11 weeks? As in how many naps and how long?

I feel we are going through a bit of a transition... She doesn't seem to want or need 4 meals a day and seems to be staying awake much longer now. Previously it was like an hour and a half max awake and then zonko. Now she is managing a good 3 hours awake at a stretch. ...

tizwozliz · 26/09/2021 20:08

From what I remember at that age, Ada was only ever awake for around 2 hours max between naps. Never really kept track of how many naps she had throughout the day.

@cheeseisthebest

Lifestooshort what an adorable puppy. His eyes!
He’s a cutie isn’t he - the whole litter are adorable

Love seeing everyone else’s pups!

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/09/2021 20:13

Same PoirotPup would start getting a bit mouthy and overtired by 2 hours at that age. Don’t know how many naps - he’d sleep for different amounts of time depending on what was going on. They still need about 18 hours sleep at that age - although not sure we often managed the whole amount! I think after 1.5 hours we’d make sure PoirotPup had toileted and then we’d have some quiet time ourselves and he would generally fall asleep.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 26/09/2021 20:15

I can't recall exactly either but I do know it's variable and constantly changes. Mon-Wed this week he barely slept. Since Thursday he has slept loads. I have no idea why... I have considered growth spurts, stress, excitement...but he seems to just do what he likes. He dropped his third meal today because he slept through and hasn't seemed to miss it

The more he sleeps the nicer he is and the more likely he is to sleep at night.

Cait73 · 26/09/2021 23:43

We have issues with being hyper, not napping in the day, jumping & nipping and eating slugs, we're experts in sleeping 9pm to 7am, can SIT and looking cute

Lifeishitsometimes · 27/09/2021 08:23

Oh @Cait73 she is lovely. 9 till 7 is brilliant. You can survive anything on that Smile. But oh the chewing and hyperactivity. I hear ya.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/09/2021 10:08

Welcome Cait73 Peggy is gorgeous and so tiny!!!

BaconAndAvocado · 27/09/2021 10:15

opalescent how is the World of Puppying treating you? Hope things are ok.

Had my second night upstairs last.
Again, a semi success!
I went to sleep at 9:30, woke to discover a poo and wee at 2, then woke him at 5 for a trip outside and then he slept till 8.
So I got 9 hours sleep, sort of!
I was very lazy and stayed in bed till 8:30, letting everyone else get themselves out to work and school!
There are some advantages to having teenagers 😂

Newboy was fascinated by the heavy rain this morning. He sat for ages at the back door, his eyes darting everywhere!

SkiRun0077 · 27/09/2021 10:46

I’ll just pop my head in to share a success the family all commented at the weekend. A year ago our puppy was 22weeks and we tried to watch strictly dancing with her in front room. She was a nightmare wouldn’t settle and DH spent most of the winter weekends sitting in the kitchen with her. We kept trying 10-20mins at a time introducing her to the lounge. This weekend she sat fast asleep on a blanket on sofa & floor whilst as a family we all watched strictly zero interruptions no zoomies. She’s now 17mths. You will get there it just takes time and consistent training Smile I just remember my despair this time last year. Hope that helps as the first year was hard work! Hang in there puppy parents

Ada has got her first bone today, think it's a hit

BaconAndAvocado · 27/09/2021 13:03

Ada has got her first bone today, think it's a hit
Holy moly that's a big bone! Bet she thinks it's Christmas 😂
cheeseisthebest · 27/09/2021 13:40

Love Ada and her big bone, ah! I've ordered a big pack of Jr puppy treats, should go down well!
Sleeping, toileting, all improved. Just need to work on separation anxiety! Argh! I so should have left him right at the start like many many people told me too!

MsAwesomeDragon · 27/09/2021 14:21

What sort of bone is that she's got @tizwozliz? I need to order some more chews for AwesomePup. He's pretty fast with a pizzle now, so we need to find some longer lasting ones. Even the goats ears which used to take him days are gone in about 20 minutes now.

tizwozliz · 27/09/2021 14:29

It's an ostrich bone @MsAwesomeDragon - so super light even though that size. She's a bit of a fussy bugger and bits of ostrich seem to be the only thing that keeps her interest. Everything else, goats ears, rabbits ears, lamb braids etc. she devours the first time and then isn't really interested again. She'll happily take them off you and trot out to the garden with them but they get deposited and ignored.
