Omg I never start ongoing threads like this!
Back to school for my lot tomorrow. Taken pup for an evening walk tonight, desperately trying to tire him out! He's struggled to nap today as felt too hot.

It's very reassuring to know that your camping out with the pup at night paid off.
I've only done a week but it is hard giving up a full night's sleep.
DH took over last night so I did a proper night's sleep and god, I feel great!
Newboy kept to his usual nocturnal wakings so it was good for DH what it's like!

cheeseisthebest · 12/09/2021 09:25

Spoke far too soon. Just been munching on what would like fresh fox poo. Envy
I have now attempted to clean his teeth!

MightyMeerkat that's great news.
Seems once they can get out it's a game changer!
12am-6, wow!

Oh no!! I googled bit when Newboy had a poo snack. It's apparently not uncommon. I'm learning so much 😂
BaconAndAvocado · 12/09/2021 09:28

Opalescent how are you getting on?
I think your pup is a similar age to mine? 10 weeks.

cheeseisthebest · 12/09/2021 09:50

Yeh it is quite common but he hadn't shown any interest in his own poo before so clearly wasn't his!

cheeseisthebest · 12/09/2021 09:54

Just hope he doesn't catch anything!!

@Spudlet Spudpup's getting so big. I shouldn't be surprised as my pup is growing at a similar rate of knots but it still shocks me how quick they grow

Ada so far only has a taste for herbivore poo Smile I am counting my blessings

Aria20 · 12/09/2021 10:01

@cheeseisthebest mine sniffs her own poo as soon as she's done it and has a face like was that me?! But she's never attempted to eat it thank god. My friends beagle though.... we went for a walk and he ate a big dollop of fresh horse poo Confused

Returnoftheowl · 12/09/2021 10:15

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse

We are a big fail on leash walking. Because we have adult dog it's always distraction and trying to keep up. I need to go out alone
Our lead walking isn't great either (and don't have another dog distracting him!). Pup either doesn't want to walk at all or wants to pull. We had a lead walk today which when better than it had been going... Both me and DH were on the walk so I don't know if that helped.
GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 10:37

Yay @MightyMeerkat that's great!!!!

We seem to have turned a sleep corner now I'm getting him out more/longer too. Feel so much better!!

He's had his first farm track/path pootle this morning and he's now shattered from all the SMELLS!!!

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 10:38

Oh and mine eats rabbit poo on a daily basis

And he tried to eat cat poo, and when I flung it off the lawn he found it and rolled in it. Scuzzer.

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 10:38

Horse poo they love. When we had horses my friends lab ate it. And crispy chicken poop too 😆

Wolfcub · 12/09/2021 10:44

Ah yes rabbit caviar, and goose poop, and sheep shit. You name it

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 11:02

Rabbit caviar 🤣🤣🤣🤣

LadyCatStark · 12/09/2021 12:10

@Spudlet yes we were super proud! There were some people taking it really seriously as you could enter it as a competition but we did it just for fun and DS went at the other end to show him what to do. When he finished everyone who was watching gave him a round of applause as they could tell he’s only a puppy 🥰.

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse
this is his most epic pic to date! (Yes we do discourage this as it is terrible for his hips!)

tizwozliz · 12/09/2021 12:18

Does he like the water @LadyCatStark ? You need take him somewhere where he can try dock jumping

LadyCatStark · 12/09/2021 15:21

@tizwozliz haha oh yes water is his second favourite thing after jumping. Actually jumping into water is his favourite thing 😂. We’re lucky enough to live by several beaches and rivers so he gets to do both most days!

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 15:34

Love that pic @LadyCatStark!!!!

MorningInspiration · 12/09/2021 15:52

Sorry catching up!

@MrsHerculePoirot I think that is now the plan (let have run of one room during the night so he can move about). What age was poriotpup when you trusted them alone downstairs?

Morningpups schedule is 6.30am/1pm/6pm/9pm. Deffo try earlier dinners but keep an eye out if they retch in the morning as it is hunger pukes. Easily sorted though.

Mine also likes a bit of rabbit caviar Grin

@LadyCatStark he looks like he is flying!! A future agility superstar

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 16:01

Oh we are on 3 meals but FawkesPup had been having a couple of little bedtime biscuits about 9:30/10 before bed. I think it's helped him.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 12/09/2021 16:36

@LadyCatStarkthat is fabulous. I often note your posts because Billy is about 3 months older than Goofy so I like to know what's coming. Protecting his hips seems frustrating when you see that joy.

Lol at rabbit caviar

Goofy slept from 11 to 7am last night. Getting walking is ace. I thought I'd overdone it yesterday as we met friends at the beach in the morning, family in the afternoon and a short stroll in the evening but maybe that's why he did 8 hours!

Spudlet · 12/09/2021 16:42

Wow @LadyCatStark, look at him go! You must be torn between ‘woweeeee!Grin’ and ‘Argh, your JOINTS!Shock’ every time he does it!

Spudpup had a long walk today - by accident really, we decided to go to the butchers and it was further than we recalled. So he was out for over an hour Shock although we were only pootling along slowly! Now feeling a bit guilty and trying to tel myself that it almost certainly isn’t going to hurt as a one off thing, and that we never used to know about all this limited exercise stuff back in the day, and it mostly was ok. It was lovely, all walking along as a family though.

He is now curled up on the back doorstep because I’m cooking roast potatoes and the kitchen always gets really smokey Blush

LadyCatStark · 12/09/2021 17:13

Yes I’m definitely thinking, “Glad we went for maximum insurance” 🙈 although I do wonder if he’ll only push himself as far as he’s able, it’s not like we’re telling him to do it. I think I’m going to get him some agility equipment for the garden for Christmas as he’ll be 9 months by then so he can begin to get used to it before he’s 1.

@Spudlet I’m sure he’ll be fine as a one off, I think the “rules” are to stop people thinking they’re meant to walk for miles and miles a day!

LadyCatStark · 12/09/2021 17:15

@MakeMeCleanTheHouse it’s definitely easier and more fun as they get older!
