Omg I never start ongoing threads like this!
Back to school for my lot tomorrow. Taken pup for an evening walk tonight, desperately trying to tire him out! He's struggled to nap today as felt too hot.

Spud we also did an hour walk by design/not critically thinking rather than accidentally. But he was on lead, and whilst running about a little bit he wasn't going mad or jumping or springing, and that's it for today. I'm choosing to not get too hung up about it but I'm also not deliver going to go on a five mile hike with him iyswim

Wolfcub · 12/09/2021 17:17

Deliberately rather than deliver

MrsHerculePoirot · 12/09/2021 18:07

@MorningInspiration he was four months when left to free roam alone at night. In reality he just sleeps on one room but in 3/4 different places!

Wolfcub · 12/09/2021 18:50

Wolfcub just took a giant piss in the middle of my living room carpet while we were eating dinner. Fksake

ilovesushi · 12/09/2021 19:16

@LadyCatStark love the action pics! Our pup is also very springy. The feathery bits on the pampas grass have come through in our garden - they are higher than head height and she is leaping and twisting in the air to grab them and rip them to shreds all over the lawn.

I thought I would lose the plot this morning. Just wanted to do some gardening but could not get a single thing done. Wore myself out salvaging things from sushipup who decided all the garden rubbish would be better strewn across the lawn along with any plants she could wrench from their pots. Garrr!

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 19:26

I had a lovely echinacea. I say had because some numpty of a puppy jumped up to get the bobbly centre bits and now it looks very sad.

I can't garden either. I think I'd need to tie him to the washing line 😆

That said he can help me with all the cutting back and digging in a few weeks time and I bet he will love it.

Got a 10m line and had a lovely potter this afternoon with him.

MightyMeerkat · 12/09/2021 20:19

@ilovesushi and @GuyFawkesDay I can't garden either. I really miss it and the weeds have gone mad. Pup loves to run from bed to bed trashing the plants 🙈

Pup has gone mad today, jumping up on the sofa and window seat. Chewing clothes and cushions. Peeing on her bed and on the lounge floor. Jumping up the kitchen cupboards. Now she's getting bigger, she can reach higher and I'm running out of places to put things out of reach. I can't wait to go back to work tomorrow for a rest!

cheeseisthebest · 12/09/2021 20:45

We had proper mad zoomies tonight, overtired craziness!

@MightyMeerkat I miss the days where we could just put things on the kitchen table to be out of reach. Having to do some serious sorting out so we can keep the table and work surfaces clear.

I managed some gardening yesterday, pup was so tired after her class I had a good two hours uninterrupted. Garden has remained remarkably intact, she's dug a bit in the raised beds where nothing was growing and she snapped a fuchsia in her excitement to try and get to the water when I was watering one day but that's pretty much the only damage. She does help herself to all the mange tout though so we haven't seen any of them this year.

We've had a pretty good day, walk in the woods this morning with lots of arrow finding practice - other half does field archery and one of his main reasons for wanting a dog was to have one to train to find arrows that have missed the target. Popped to the shop when back leaving pup sleeping on her bed in the kitchen, OH upstairs. Greeted me at the door when I got back but that was the first time she'd been out her bed. Then naps and bits of training and general pottering about whilst I did some crochet and got some things done in the house. Local loop this evening, a glimpse of some nice loose lead walking and now pup has had dinner and is snoozing on my legs.

Extra food rations today as she's looking a bit skinny.

Elmrosie · 12/09/2021 20:58

Lovely pics @LadyCatStark and @Spudlet!

Looks as though everyone's had a busy weekend. Elmpup had a couple of puppy meets, which she enjoyed. Less so the shower she had after jumping in stinky mud with her pals.

MakeMeCleanTheHouse · 12/09/2021 21:01

Goofy also 'helps' with gardening by bringing items into the house to be strewn across the carpet. Clumps of soil included in this...

He's partial to the remote control and chews held between his paws like a bone. I think I prefer it to slugs. Easier to retrieve from his gob

I'm sure I'm breaking the walking rules 😒 We don't go on a route march but we do go out a lot. I'm keeping them short but he comes with me rather than leave at home. Tbh left at home he'd probably zoom around the garden risking injury so a short plod seems safe

GuyFawkesDay · 12/09/2021 21:52

My weeding helper. He yanks them out the patio.

I've been bad and let FawkesPup have an extra walk with his BFF. There was no walking really, a lot of playing and silliness and now he's crashed!!!

Help, fellow Puppy Survivalists 😰

Major fail last night and I feel shit.

I'd been sleeping downstairs in the kitchen for the first week wiry Newboy and letting him out when he woke.

Last night we thought it would be a good idea to go up to BEC and come down to let him out when he whimpered.
It worked the first two time but I must have gone into a deeper sleep the last time as we didn't hear him and he ended up pooing in the kitchen.
He's only ever done one poo inside since we've had him and I feel awful for him AND DS2 who cleared it up at 6am on his way out to do his paper round.

DH is going to get a cheap baby monitor today so I can hear him more clearly.

Need advice and sympathy please!
Did I go upstairs too soon?
He's only 10 weeks....
Will a monitor solve the problem?
Feeling like a crap dog owner.

LadyCatStark · 13/09/2021 08:35

Awww @BaconAndAvocado don’t beat yourself up, I don’t think that’s a major fail. See how it goes with the baby monitor. I must be a worst puppy parent as I didn’t sleep downstairs at all!

cheeseisthebest · 13/09/2021 09:59

Don't feel bad! We've had loads of poops inside and also been in a deep sleep and not heard him. I've even taken him out in the night for a poo and he's refused to go outside and done it inside. Highlight was me holding a puppy pad under his bum at 1 in the morning!

Thanks cheeseisthebest and LadyCatStark
I've probably overreacted!

I guess, like most things, puppy-rearing won't always run smoothly.

TerrierOrTerror · 13/09/2021 11:07

@baconandavocado don't feel bad! We had TerrorPup up with us for the first week or so and despite being close she managed to whine, not wake us and then poo. A baby monitor is great though, we used ours right up until we ended up moving her upstairs at 11 months old. It was particularly useful when I knew when she was waking up (could hear the moving around) so could throw on clothes and be down before she even whined.

BaconAndAvocado · 13/09/2021 11:13

TerrororTerrier
Yes we're hoping to have the same results when we use a baby monitor 🤞🏻

567and · 13/09/2021 11:27

Don’t feel bad @BaconAndAvocado. We only slept downstairs the first 2 nights, and after that we left him in his crate downstairs and we slept upstairs as normal. I just take him for a week around 10:30/11pm and then that’s it until 6/6:30am. I did use the Alexa as a baby monitor for a week or so but we just leave to door open now so we can hear him if he needs us. He’s been here 4 weeks now so we probably did that around 9 weeks. Helps that he likes it in his crate and doesn’t whine when he’s out in there (unless he’s having a strop about something! 😂)

We’ve also had plenty of accidents inside. He was doing so well, but I’m sure he does it out of protest sometimes.

567pup seems to want to be out in the garden all the time. He loves the soil and mud and twigs. Means that there are slightly less accidents inside but he STILL comes back in to wee then goes back outside again every now and then. Sigh. This too shall pass…

567and · 13/09/2021 11:29

@LadyCatStark fabulous action shot!

@GuyFawkesDay what a lovely face he has!

tizwozliz · 13/09/2021 11:32

@BaconAndAvocado - we tried to get an extra half hour sleep in one Saturday and pup puked as so hungry, then vomited all her breakfast as stomach irritated from the hunger puke - worse than a poo indoors I think

cheeseisthebest · 13/09/2021 12:16

Mine loves being outside too and just can't let him out there unsupervised.
It really does change all the time. Last week the school run wore him out and I could work but today I've had to take him for a walk first to tire him out. Turned into more of a run as he was terrified of the bin lorry following us!

cheeseisthebest · 13/09/2021 12:17

But he did sleep in his crate last night from 9.30pm until 7am!!

😂😂definitely!!

GuyFawkesDay · 13/09/2021 13:30

We've had plenty of indoor poop. And wee. And hunger pukes. And eating puke. And he's still in our room in his crate at 14 weeks....

Lots and lots of fails.

I'll let him off though cos he's my little mucker and he slept 10:30-6am. Hurrah!!!
