I cannot wait for lovely walks once FawkesPup is 6 months old! It'll be December but I am a weirdo who cares not for wind and cold and rain as long as I'm togged up for the weather. This means I get to go hat and boot and glove shopping for this winter. The dog might get a coat too. Or one of those dinosaur fleeces 😆

Lots of spaniels on here 💕

GuyFawkesDay · 19/08/2021 16:47

MightyPup and FawkesPup look so similar!!!

opalescent · 19/08/2021 17:30

Thanks @Aria20 😊

LadyCatStark · 19/08/2021 17:38

So Billy didn’t have a long nap after his walk, he had just long enough for me to have my brew (and KitKat) and Hoover (again!). Then he went into the garden and did some digging somehow as I thought I was watching him and immediately trailed mud through the house 🙈 I had to pick the mud out from under his claws with a baby wipe. Sometimes I’m sure I’ve accidentally bought a horse not a dog!

cheeseisthebest · 19/08/2021 17:44

Haha! Mine got a thread caught in his nail today. Fortunately we had vets anyway so he sorted it. Worried me cos the vet thought it had gone in the nail bed.

opalescent · 19/08/2021 17:49

Hi all. Opalpup slept well again last night- in her crate between 11pm and 7am. She had a wee just before bed, and I took her out at 2am- she didn't go at 2am, and when I checked her bedding this morning it was slightly damp. This is the second night in a row that she's weed in her crate, despite being taken out in the night.

Should I be worried? Or just chalk it up to experience and keep going as we are?

I clean the crate up fully, with enzyme spray each time.

opalescent · 19/08/2021 17:50

In general she is doing amazingly well with toilet training, doing 90% of wees and 💩 outside (as long as I stay focussed on her!)

opalescent · 19/08/2021 17:50

(She's 10 weeks today)

Wolfcub · 19/08/2021 18:11

Thank you Aria

Wolfcub · 19/08/2021 18:16

Nix32 · 19/08/2021 18:42

Thanks for the new thread.

This is Nixpup - 4 months old now and 8kg, been with us almost 9 weeks. He's trying out his new car seat here - seems to be a success!

Elmrosie · 19/08/2021 19:21

Thanks again for the thread. This is Elmpup, she's a 13 week old Goldendoodle.

Sometimes I’m sure I’ve accidentally bought a horse not a dog!

Made me laugh earlier when I was looking at the drying coats and one size says suitable for St Bernards, Newfoundland's, Shetland Ponies :-)

LadyCatStark · 19/08/2021 19:28

Haha @tizwozliz I’ll take one of those! Actually though, I am genuinely going to need a drying coat (and a mud daddy) for autumn/ winter as Billy has already been getting soooo muddy on out walks this week as the weather hasn’t been as good.

Wolfcub · 19/08/2021 19:30

I definitely recommend the mud daddy. Make sure to look out for their regular discounts on Facebook though

GuyFawkesDay · 19/08/2021 19:31

Speaking of MudDaddy I saw one of these and think I might invest for those muddy winter walks. They seem a good idea with the insulated jacked on to keep the water hot. Put in the boot and then wash doggo off and stick a drying coat on.

Wolfcub · 19/08/2021 19:38

That does look good. Not a lot cheaper than the mud daddy though which is also supposed to keep the water warm for two hours. We've not tested this though. My only gripe is that you do need to keep putting pressure in as you run the water out

GuyFawkesDay · 19/08/2021 19:49

I know some people use the hozelock one or even get hot water taps installed outside the house!

I'm placing a large mental bet that this dog is going to be half hippo if he's anything like other spaniels I know, so I'd better find something to wash him off!!

Nix32 · 19/08/2021 19:57

@LadyCatStark He's a Tibetan Terrier - he'll end up looking like a spaniel sized Old English.

Am resigned to the fact that that I'm going to spend this winter either wet or muddy - can anyone recommend some good dog walking boots? I'd like calf/knee height leather and waterproof rather than hiking boots.

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/08/2021 20:14

PoirotPup is a lab and 6 months now.

LadyCatStark · 19/08/2021 20:21

@Nix32 oh that’s so cute!

I just wear my wellies.

tizwozliz · 19/08/2021 20:24

I do love labs, but I do sometimes wonder if I'd have been better to get something happier looking. Ada has perfected her 'feel sorry' for me look, normally accompanied by a huge sigh. I always worry she's unhappy

LadyCatStark · 19/08/2021 20:35

@tizwozliz when Billy looks sad, it’s because he’s tired. I say, “Come on, into bed you’re doing your tired face.” 😂
