Puppy Survival Thread August part 2

New puppy thread as August has been a busy month! Not sure how to link the other thread?! @MrsHerculePoirot @SweetLathyrus @Spudlet @MsAwesomeDragon @GuyFawkesDay @opalescent @ashmts

I have a puppy pen but he just tips it over!
Just tried him in his crate for a nap but he yelped after two minutes, now dozing on the fireplace. Definitely wondering if he's too hot in his crate.
He needs to sleep in there at night though. Really feeling driven to despair today!

@cheeseisthebest I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I wish I could help but crate training has been a disaster here. If he's too hot, could you try a cool mat in his crate?
Or if your pen is open that opens out could you section off a corner of the room to give pup more room to stretch out? My pup hates the crate but tolerates the pen a bit better because it's big enough for her to walk around and stretch out

I have no space for a proper pen unfortunately, the one I've got you just throw up and put down and I can't leave it up overnight cos he will tip it over.
He just wants to be with us I think at night. It's frustrating when he was happy all night in the crate before!

Also our crate is quite big for him so he can stretch out.

I've had a day off from pup today, meeting up with friends. She has hardly slept all day apparently, asleep within 10 mins of me getting home. Not sure what that says about me!

Can't wait til MaePup sleeps past 5. DW gets up with her and lets me sleep, and I feel so guilty! (and grateful)

Me neither! Though it's me doing all the get up here.

Everyone home tonight and FawkesPup has been a bitey little shit. Great.

I know we are supposed to be all positive training but oh my god he latched onto DSs toes and didn't let go. I was so close to losing it with him!!

We went to a regatta today (in Lytham for those who were talking about it previously). Billy has never been around so many people before but he did really well. He saw a few other black labs including another pup who was only a week older than him but so much bigger and more grown up looking and about a million poodle crosses, I know they’re popular but I’ve never seen so many all in one place!

He’s obviously over tired as he’s struggled to settle tonight then he’s just had the most insane zoomies and took himself off to his crate 😂. I’m quite glad as I’m exhausted too and I don’t have the energy tonight!

@cheeseisthebest sorry you're having a crappy day 😩 I feel like it's very much one step forward two steps back with puppy rearing!

I was lying in bed this morning, thinking about how stressful it is when your sleep is dependent on the sleep of another, especially when the other is a totally unpredictable entity! I really did not miss this aspect of having a baby in the house

Just the same as early parenthood, so much guesswork and hoping that you'll stumble on the magic formula.

But as with parenthood, we must have faith that eventually these pups will sleep without needing our input 🙏🏻
