Breeding from my dog

Ethel1000 · 05/10/2020 12:58

I have a 3 1/2 year old springer and mated her with another springer. She was rejected to be KC registered due to her mum being too old. Not mine at the time. If I have all other information re pure breed will this negate any future pup being KC registered?
Thanks in advance.

But if there were no breeders, there would soon be very few pets, and there if there were no pets, there would be very few vets.

Vets don’t just treat dogs. There are all sorts of other small animals as well as the millions of cattle and sheep and horses up and down the country. There will always be work for vets.

SBTLove · 07/10/2020 20:16

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman
55 dogs every day die because there’s no home for them is a disgrace.
Mandatory neuter for 3 years would be ideal to reduce the overall pet population.
The reckless breeding of cats is also out of control in the U.K., ppl are ignorant and selfish.

Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:20

No I hadn’t a clue re prices, of dogs, therefore, it is more about your mindset not mine.

Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:21

Back street breeder, is this what is meant by a troll!

OP posts:
Hercules12 · 07/10/2020 20:23

Do people still do this? Confused Surely everyone knows it's wrong...

Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:29

Yes, both bitch and dog, one liv3 in cages and are pets, he came to ours as I wouldn’t let her to anyone else’s, although the sire is also a house pet

OP posts:
SBTLove · 07/10/2020 20:31

live in cages?? what do you mean?

Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:38

The families who have requested to have one of my dogs pups, I know, have previously had pups, have gardens and aware that springers are agile and need lots of exercising. Although never bred from my enumerate amount of dogs I have, I am not totally stupid, quite educated actually and sensible.

OP posts:
Lifeis10percent · 07/10/2020 20:40

Educated doesn't mean much. I have a masters but I know nothing about cleaning or technology for instance. You know nothing about this but you're doing it. It is most definitely not sensible.

Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:43

Don’t live in a back street. I love all these comments who seem to think they know me better than I do. Fortunately I am strong mi died and can deal with trolls like you

OP posts:
Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:46

Oops typo, trying to answer all these trolls, neither my dog or the sire live in cages outdoors,

OP posts:
Smallsteps88 · 07/10/2020 20:47

quite educated actually

Totally irrelevant unless you’re being educated in the thing you’re doing. Which you are clearly not!

and sensible.

Ummm......no.

Lifeis10percent · 07/10/2020 20:48

Back street doesn't mean literally. It has a few different meanings but generally means someone who isn't licensed or vetted who breeds their dog with a lax attitude to sell the pups. It can also mean a smaller establishment using their dog's puppies to make money. It means a type of irresponsible breeder, in essence, which you have proved yourself to be. People wouldn't be making the comments they are, otherwise.

Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:49

Only because I have no knowledge of the Kennel club. Oh how we pontificate

OP posts:
Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:51

Not at all, your mindset is more about you than me,

OP posts:
Ethel1000 · 07/10/2020 20:52

No way Sherlock

OP posts:
Smallsteps88 · 07/10/2020 20:56
Confused

Who are you talking to?

onemorerose · 07/10/2020 20:57

Jeez some people on her need to get a grip. If there were no breeders there would be no dogs left? Right? Because people don’t, and aren’t allowed to, let their dogs roam loose. Having a litter is good for a bitch health wise. And people love dogs. Haven’t read all the posts, just the pile on that I saw the first couple of pages.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 07/10/2020 21:06

@dontdisturbmenow

Oh the warriors are out again!

Personally, I would much prefer to get a puppy from someone like you than a professional breeder who has a number of bitches and therefore struggling to give them all the love and attention they deserve and get rid of them when they become too old.

I didn't care our puppy was KC registered, we met mum and dad, like the owners asked us zillion questions to reassure themselves we would be good owners, and I would be forever thankful for them to have let us have the most amazing puppy.

Ignore condescending posters here, they don't represent people's view in the real world.

Agree. Coming from a European country where it is considered cruel to neuter an animal unless there is a medical reason, I find the MN line on this utterly bizarre. People on here are fanatical and sanctimonious - as well as ignorant of the fact that the supposed benefits of neutering are not nearly as clear-cut as they seem to believe. They love slagging off posters like the OP for being ignorant, when they are just as ignorant themselves.

All of you slagging off the OP should be aware that, in my country, it is you who would be considered cruel and would actually be breaking the law in most cases. There is also mounting evidence that early spaying increases the risk of health problems in later life. There isn't one settled view on whether it is right to de-sex animals.

And before you all pile with, "What about over-stretched pet shelters?", do some research. The evidence is that neutering does not reduce population levels - literature review here

Puppy farming is vile and wrong. A dog owner choosing to breed from a family pet is totally normal, and there is nothing wrong with it, as long as the bitch and puppies receive proper care.

Indoctro · 07/10/2020 21:16

What was the Coefficients of inbreeding score for the dogs, I hope you checked this before breeding these dogs together.

Othering · 07/10/2020 21:16

It's a saying. It doesn't mean you literally live in a back street. It's not a slur on your housing situation.
Smallsteps88 · 07/10/2020 21:17

And people love dogs.

Yes. That’s why dog rescues are empty...

winetime89 · 07/10/2020 21:19

there's enough dogs needing homes in this world without creating more.

bodgeitandscarper · 07/10/2020 21:20

Looking at the animal welfare in many European countries I couldnt give a toss that they think neutering is cruel to be frank. The report youve linked actually states neutering in females prolongs longevity, and one of the authors has also stated the benefits in another report. Breeding is potentially far more harmful to health than spaying. fwww.cuteness.com/blog/content/do-female-dogs-live-longer-if-they-give-birth

midnightstar66 · 07/10/2020 21:43

Other issues aside, being kc registered alone is irrelevant if you or the buyers, that you already have, do not wish to show or breed to show their dogs. Being kc reg is far from a guarantee of any health or welfare standards sadly. My JRT is not KC reg neither is her mum or dad. They are all the wrong colour to qualify, it doesn't matter in the slightest to me that she's not eligible even if I was to want a litter.
