How many of you share your bed space with your pooch?

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily Sorry I have beaten you... I've had two dogs in the bed under the covers, another three on top, and the other four scattered around the bedroom floor... The joy of house-sitting for a truly obsessed rescuer!

LolaDabestest · 30/11/2019 23:26

Yep...one day she just decided to follow me up and she does the same every night now I have a throw on the bed, my bedding is washed reg and my bedroom doesn't smell of dog....she is part of the family I hate leaving her on her own downstairs.

goodwinter · 30/11/2019 23:28

Yes, in fact he normally sleeps in between us with one of us cuddling him 😬

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/11/2019 23:28

Yes and I wouldn’t have it any other way, love snuggling up in bed with her.

ironickname · 30/11/2019 23:31

Maybe if ironicdog calms down in the next couple of years but Is quite happy in the crate at the moment.

ilovepixie · 30/11/2019 23:37

My Lhasa apso sleeps on our bed. I love hearing her wee snores and wimpers during the night.

ItsOurTime · 30/11/2019 23:39

Yes. She's a rescue, the night I brought her home I had no intention of letting her sleep on the bed. But then she cried..I tried so hard to be strong but within 5 minutes she was laid between us on our bed and she slept like a baby.
Now she always sleeps at the bottom of the bed, on top of the covers, next to my feet. She's never dirty, doesn't shed and we're all happy with the arrangement!

SixFeetUnder · 30/11/2019 23:39

Ours starts off in her own bed in our room and most mornings I wake to her snuggled at the bottom of our bed in between our feet (or a little further up if the weather has been cold like it has been recently). Always on top of the duvet though.
I don't mind it as neither of us feel her getting on the bed, I think she's just trying to get warm and she's groomed every four weeks and bathed in between if needed so not dirty. I wouldn't like her up near my face or on pillows though so would draw a line there. And I think it's easier as she's quite a small dog.

Amortentia · 30/11/2019 23:46

Ive got a toy sized dog and he does now sleep in our bed, when we first got him he slept happily in his cage then in his own bed. Now he’s getting older he wants to be in the bed but he’s beginning to struggle getting up. I did buy him little dog stairs but he’s too thick to work out how to use them. 🤣

Fortunately, I’m very short and he fits nicely in the gap below my feet.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 30/11/2019 23:53

If they want to and usually they do. One under the covers and one on top. The third one prefers to sleep in an armchair beside the bed.

cjpark · 01/12/2019 04:52

Yep, though he's a small, smooth coated breed so very clean. He like to sleep with his head on my ankles like a foot muff.

dudsville · 01/12/2019 05:19

We happily sleep as a pack here !

MerchantOfVenom · 01/12/2019 05:26

No, dogs are filthier than pigs! ShockConfused

Frenchw1fe · 01/12/2019 05:33

First 3 years she slept in the kitchen. Then we moved house and the letterbox rattles. She barked all night. Now she sleeps on our bed. We have a sheet we put on top of the duvet at night . It's a pita but my dh is a soft touch.

BiteyShark · 01/12/2019 05:35

We resisted for over 2 years but eventually caved and he now sleeps on top of the bed between DH and I. It's bloody lovely.

Yes it may not be the best for hygiene but I see it as no different to snuggling up to you on the sofa. We just change the blanket on top of the bed more frequently than we would normally do.

My friend thinks is disgusting. I stopped caring what others think about me a long time ago.

JustaScratch · 01/12/2019 05:44

No, he's a massive Labrador cross and there wouldn't be room for us. He's allowed one of the sofas but he sometimes trots in to check on us and sleeps on the rung next to the bed.

BoomyBooms · 01/12/2019 07:56

Yes, he has worn us down over the last 6.5 years!! He comes in nights and mornings for a cuddle and a snooze but takes himself off to his own bed about 10pm. He doesn't spend the whole night because of his snoring! The worst part is him bringing all 4 of his favourite 'friends' with him (aka well chewed and stinky stuffed animals)

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 01/12/2019 08:00

MoaningMinnieeGrin

Did you manage to get any sleep?!

adaline · 01/12/2019 08:09

Yep, ours has slept in the bed from day one.

The hygiene aspect has never bothered me - he's allowed on the sofa and to roll around and play on the carpets so why would his hygiene on the bed be any worse than it is elsewhere in the house?

Nothing beats a snuggle with a beagle wrapped around you on a cold morning!

lotsofdogshere · 01/12/2019 08:12

No, they sleep downstairs. They're up with me now, sleeping on the bed while I have a cup of coffee but they don't share the bed overnight. When our under five year old grandchildren stay, one of them often crawls in and that's enough disturbance to my sleep thank you.

FVFrog · 01/12/2019 08:14

Yes, since my STBXH left 18 months ago. I bloody love this dog and wouldn’t have got through this without him! Doesn’t matter how shit I’ve felt some days I had to get up and walk him and you always feel better for fresh air and a dog walk

Peoplearemiserable · 01/12/2019 08:25

He did all his life until 6 months ago. He’s 18 years old so I think he’s too achy now so his bed is right next to me but on the floor. He still comes for cuddles in the morning though! I miss him being on the bed, I love having him snuggled up to me keeping each other warm!

Kasiana · 01/12/2019 08:35

Off course they do

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 01/12/2019 08:37

Yes. Only on top of the covers though and he's not a bed hog; curls up in a corner and is a real comfort to feel there if I am a bit down or stressed. My friend has a miniature dachshund who sleeps actually in bed with her. She lifts the covers up and he jumps in and goes down to her feet and stays there without moving, totally under the covers, for the whole night 😁

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 01/12/2019 08:43

Two collies, both in the room. One starts the night on the bed and the other is between us with her head on my pillow by the morning.

I love having them and we all sleep better.
