Does your dog sleep on your bed?

Microbiologically humans are somewhat gross too hence I’m quite happy with animals on the beds .

Tbh I think it's pretty disgusting, you wouldn't go to bed with your shoes on would you? The bottom of their paws have exactly the same on the bottom - traces of dog shit, rain, mud, dropped food and drink, grass, insects etc...

I don't know about you, but I wash and wipe my dogs paws before he comes into the house. I don't let him walk mud and dirt over the carpets, just like I don't let people wear muddy shoes indoors!

DDog used to sniggle with us until she started getting arsey with DH when he came to bed - always after me - growling and barking. So she's banished to her own bed in the bedroom - problem solved.

The comfort and joy of having a dog sleep close to you is so nice I think the benefits are way more than the downsides. They have such short lifespan that I just want to get as much joy from him as I can and he wants to be leaning against us at night.

Yes, absolutely, every night. The five (5!!!) play musical chairs throughout the night, except for the one who has decided that "her spot" is exactly where my feet would go. She'll whinge and cry if anyone dare lay exactly there at bedtime, and there is no shifting her once she's there. So I sleep with my knees bent. Sigh.

DH is usually the victim of musical chairs cuddling, and when one moves and another flops onto him in their place, he just adjusts and cuddles the next one in tight, dead asleep and all.

And neither of us would have it any other way!

Ours is too big for the bed, so we've managed to convince her to sleep in her one right next to our bed. I'm still annoyed at the neighbour complaining when she was a puppy, as the plan was to have her sleeping downstairs. If she slept on the bed we'd have no leg room!

yes lovely snuggly hot water bottle when he's very tired n flat out but a real pain when wide awake and getting in and out of the bed all night!

Our guy persisted with whining and giving out no matter what we did to train him to relax in the kitchen at night so we gave up and brought him upstairs.
He spent a few weeks on dd's bed and then migrated to ours but started getting a bit ahead of himself so we got him a cosy bed and he sleeps in our room on the floor, right next to the bed.
I'm with Bitey on this, they don't live long enough and I'd give anything to have our last little dote back.

No, but we've only had her 2 weeks
Growing up our dogs always slept in the kitchen at night so that's what I've stuck with. Also my youngest prefers knowing upstairs is dog free so we have a stair gate to prevent it. She's v tenacious though and the gate has to be shut securely!
