Do you sleep with your dog?

Just that, really. Not in a pervy way, obvs.:o

Our last dog slept on the bed like the dead, and new pooch has just been accorded the privileges now that his bladder is cast-iron. He loves it, and after an adjustment period when he was so chuffed he kept waking up to tell me, he's calmed down.

I would never say a dog should/must be allowed this, but feel that my work schedule means this human to dog pay-off is a good one. And I like it. Big dog. Big bed.

What are the thoughts of The Doghouse crew?

Yes. I’ve woken up with his head on the pillow next to me on occasion. I love him being there.

Langrish · 28/04/2019 10:38

No, step too far for me. She’s on a chair in the corner of the room though (was sick of having to sand and repaint scratches doors).

Meandmetoo · 28/04/2019 10:38

I love it, if I wake up and can't sleep the dog snuffles right in to my neck and I sniff her ears and listen to her breathing and I'm back to sleep within 15 mins. And when I wake up I'm usually spooning her. Heaven!

PhalangeReginaPhalange · 28/04/2019 10:41

No but it took a lot not to! Like having another baby he just wanted to be with me everywhere and I did want to but with having kids and an occasional cosleeper we just couldn’t

Floralnomad · 28/04/2019 10:41

Our dog is on my bed until I’m ready to go to sleep and then I carry him into his bedroom ( he shares with adult ds who is only here 1/2 nights a month) and he gets covered over with his blanket .

freddiethegreat · 28/04/2019 10:44

My little old JRT did until incontinence issues made it impossible. He left us at the end of March & I tried last night with my younger dog (SBT), but he fidgeted & fidgeted & no-one got much sleep, so maybe not ...

sundaybluecoffee · 28/04/2019 10:46

No, DP won't allow it and it is quite unsanitary Grin

EleanorReally · 28/04/2019 10:46

yes because otherwise she would poo or wee in the kitchen,

Decormad38 · 28/04/2019 10:49

Yes. She choses who she wants to sleep with each night and wanders in. So does the cat. Sometimes they snuggle up together. It’s anything goes in our home.

Beachbodynowayready · 28/04/2019 10:56

Bed isn't big enough unfortunately.
And ddog once slept on ds's bed and when he moved she bit his toe!. Still has a scar!!
Shock

Zoe007 · 28/04/2019 10:57

I’m in bed now with a heavy cold / flu my pooch is acting as hot water bottle cuddled up to me! Such a comfort! I keep him very healthy with an immaculate worming anti—flee regime and he’s totally house trained so whats the harm!

BiteyShark · 28/04/2019 10:57

My dog is allowed on the spare bed so often we watch tv late at night in there for a cuddle.

He isn't allowed on our bed because I have seen him scooting on the spare bed and I also worry about when he is older and can't jump on and off the bed. He therefore sleeps on his own bed beside ours.

rwalker · 28/04/2019 11:00

Couldn't think of anything worse there bare arsehole allover your bedding and pillows.

BrennieGirl · 28/04/2019 11:01

No because he likes to lie diagonally on the bed Smile or to curl up lying almost on top of me.

Meandmetoo · 28/04/2019 11:05

I'd rather my dogs bare bumhole than dp's!

She has her own blanket to place hers on at least...

TheQueef · 28/04/2019 11:08

Before he passed away our standard poodle would go up early to claim his spot. I slept around him.

Mummyshark2018 · 28/04/2019 11:27

Love having the dog on the bed. I sleep so much better! He loves it too and will sleep until we sleep.

bengalcat · 28/04/2019 11:28

Yes ours sleeps with us . One night I woke up to feel the cheeky minx trying to pull my pillow from under my head so she could have it ! She’ll rearrange the pillows when she’s alone .

EmmaJR1 · 28/04/2019 11:29

My dog would absolutely love to sleep in my bed but spreads out so dh chucks her out!

Currently she's laying in the back of my sofa being my pillow.

fourquenelles · 28/04/2019 11:31

Yep all three of my greyhound types sleep with me on my kingsized bed. They have their preferred spots and I have 6 inches on the edge. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Squickety · 28/04/2019 11:32

I would love to but it's the one thing DH has put his foot down about. She sleeps in her bed right next to my side though, and if either of us sleeps in the spare room where she is allowed on the bed, she's up there like a shot, so happy.

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/04/2019 11:33

Couldn't think of anything worse there bare arsehole allover your bedding and pillows.

Gross and their drooly mouths they lick their unmentionables with. 😷

Aimily · 28/04/2019 11:35

Yup, he sleeps between me a dp, usually cuddled up to dp as I'm like a human sized hot water bottle so no one cuddles me 😂

Pluginwall · 28/04/2019 11:41

Both of mine sleep with me under the covers. I live alone and enjoy their company.

It probably is fairly unhygienic, but I don’t really care.. I shower every morning, change the sheets regularly, and keep the dogs groomed and treated for fleas.

austech · 28/04/2019 11:50

There was an interregnum when old pooch slept on one side of me, and the cat on the other, me being the Berlin Wall. The Cold War of the new pooch has meant he has bed privileges. I so wish austechcat would kick his ass so we could share again.
