BiteyDog loves socks but he knows he shouldn't have them and does this victory bouncing about if he gets one before sheepishly dropping it.

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 21/05/2019 15:22

SquirrelDog likes socks, but he is properly obsessed with bras. I wish he wasn’t, they’re bloody expensive.

BiteyShark · 21/05/2019 16:24

Taps fingers waiting for BiteyDog to come home.

Apparently he spent a lot of last night on high alert wondering where I was. I don't think DH got a lot of rest Grin

How are you managing with the arm Grouchy?

I scared BiteyDog this morning as I moved and shrieked in pain and it terrified him and then he tried to jump on me to 'help' causing me to shriek even more 😭. Poor DH didn't know who to help as I was shrieking, dog was panicking. Fortunately normality has resumed once more and the codeine has kicked in Grin

Morning folks. Sorry to read about mishaps and operations, hope you both recover quick.
Strange question for you all and I hope I'm clear in the description of what mugdog is doing.
Let her out in the morning for the usual sniff , bark at the sky and toilet routine. She's now taken to some odd behaviour. She goes up to bushes and waggles her backside at them. She looks like a cat spraying . Hmm what could that be about?
Had a recent health check/boosters and had her anal glands checked and they are fine, she still likes to slide down the embankment in my garden on her arse though.
Why does my dog act like a cat😂😂

BiteyShark · 22/05/2019 09:57

That's a new one on me drinkswine, I haven't got a clue Confused

Off to google then
😂

drinkswineoutofamug · 22/05/2019 10:46

Just a brief look and what mugdog is doing against bushes is called trancing ???
Never heard of it . Apart from 'spray action' she walks slow mo under over hanging shrubs and lets them brush past her back. What I've found on YouTube , some of it mimics her behaviour and it's nothing to worry about. It last seconds up to a minute then is followed by her running round in circles 🤷🏻‍♀️

BiteyShark · 22/05/2019 10:58

Oh wow, how odd. Never heard of that before Shock

Every day is a school day

BiteyShark · 23/05/2019 13:05

The house is terribly empty without BiteyDog. It's amazing how quiet it sounds without the clickerty clicking of his nails as he potters about.

I have a very tired dog. 5 full days at daycare has worn him out Grin.

I don't think I will bother getting DH to take him out over the bank holiday as I think he will like the rest before going back for another full week.

Must up his food though as he is starving Shock

drinkswineoutofamug · 25/05/2019 15:01

Dog going on her holidays on Sunday night. She's off to my daughters for a week while we go see what's left of our holiday home 😭
Robbing bastards have cleared the lot. It's a shell. Don't buy property in Bulgaria is my advice.
Back to dog, should be ok, daughter works in a dog friendly pub with doggy play areas ! So dog is going with her while she cleans in the morning, then left for an hour in the evening while waiting for her gf to get home.
I'm trying to find things to put in suitcase as all my summer stuff was over there and we dont know what else the bastards taken 🤬 for 10 yrs I've taken hand luggage only. Fucking soul destroying

BiteyShark · 25/05/2019 15:30

drinkswine that's so awful. Hope the damage and theft is limited SadAngry
At least MugDog sounds like he will have fun.

blue - thank you for the reassurance about the recall. He's actually been really good since and this morning was in mid run with another dog doing a big circle and circled away from the other dog and back to me. One of the puppy training classes I go to is also run by a sighthound and lurcher owner and she was very reassuring that he's actually doing really well and not to worry too much. Really pleased to hear Bluepuppy is healed and enjoying running about again.

Hope you heal soon Bitey - thank goodness you have daycare. Also did laugh about your journey to Biteydog sleeping on the bed. I caved with my last dog after a couple of years and couldn't understand why I hadn't done it sooner after I realised he basically slept until whenever I woke up when he was in with me. This time I've let MuppetPup sleep on the bed from when he was about 14 weeks old. He was in a crate by my bed before that and that was only to keep the cat from disturbing him. Now I've sadly shut MuppetCat out of my bedroom at night because he was disturbing all our sleep wanting to party like crazy with MuppetPup all hours of the night. He sleeps in with my daughter now and we're all getting more sleep.

So sorry to hear about your holiday home drinkswineoutofamug - also love the sound of what Mugdog has taken to doing. I've never seen a dog do trancing before. It's a shame we can't attach videos on MN.

Welcome Queenofdarts - I joined here too after looking for a new puppy support thread. MuppetPup is now 17 weeks and I feel like we're finally getting properly settled together. He graduates from puppy school this week! He's learnt so much and it all goes so fast. Hope you're surviving the first few weeks...

BiteyShark · 25/05/2019 17:36

merry it only took 2.5 years for BiteyDog to wear me down Grin but yes I now wish I had done it ages ago as I love the fact that I wake to a very contented dog usually found on his back with his paws in the air and my face

He is still confused as to why I can't play ball with him at the moment but hoping another week and I will be back to normal.

Glad to hear MuppetPup is doing well and don't they grew quickly.

QueenOfDarts · 25/05/2019 17:38

Thanks merryMuppet and BiteyShark for the welcome Smile

DartyDog is nearly 10 weeks old and we’ve had her for just under 2 weeks. She’s a cavapoo, which I know is dogpersona non grata on Mumsnet. But we chose her and the breeder carefully and she’s healthy and happy.

She is sleeping well overnight and is reliable house training wise about 60% of the time. She’s very affectionate, although after becoming increasingly independent and confident every day, she’s started leaving my lap for a human-free spot on the sofa when she wants to rest, which feels a little heartbreaking!!

The hardest thing is how nippy she is first thing in the morning when excited to see us. She’s like a baby shark, and while the first few days she really heeded being told “no” after ‘biting’ toes, fingers and faces, these days she tries her luck a lot more.

BiteyShark · 25/05/2019 17:43

Oh Queen those baby teeth are bloody sharp aren't they. I had holes in my jeans from when BiteyDog used to launch himself at me and hang on Angry

At 10 weeks you must be counting the days down until you can go out.

merryMuppet · 25/05/2019 18:53

Queen MuppetPup also has the needle teeth excitement first thing in the morning. I find keeping an antler on my bedside table helps and I quickly substitute this in his mouth first thing! Can just imagine showing someone around the house and them wondering what a random antler is doing there! Grin

I don't understand the hatred of all things cross bred as many pedigrees were created originally by cross breeding. The whippet was originally created through breeding greyhounds with terriers. I've always rescued in the past and basically have never really known what I've got although found out with my last dog with a doggy DNA test.

MuppetPup is a whippet who I got through a breeder who happened to be the parent of my daughter's friend so know them well, know their dog well and they wanted local family homes for their pups. We were vetted more than I think I vetted them. The litter arrived just after I lost my previous hound and I was hoping for a whippet or whippet cross so it felt like perfect timing.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 25/05/2019 20:42

Apologies for long absence. BastardPup (now almost BastardDog) found two Rich Tea biscuits in a pile of grass clippings in the park this morning. He then checked every single sodding heap of clippings in the whole bastarding park. And then fucked off with a spaniel.

The teenage period is such fun.

BiteyShark · 26/05/2019 08:40

And then fucked off with a spaniel. Grin

Ah those were the shit good old days. We used to have the 'stand off' with BiteyDog giving me the look where he 'knew' I wouldn't chase him so I could see him calculating exactly how much he could get away with Angry. Now he just huffs and does what he is told, grudgingly Grin

This is QueenofDarts with a namechange in honour of DartyPup.

DartyPup is doing my head in. I’m trying to prepare for going OUT out next week (yep, counting down the days!) but will she have a collar and walk with the lead? Will she feck. So bought her a harness ... and putting it on has become a war which she wins with her dart-like teeth. She will not tolerate it no matter how many treats or how many hands are trying to get her in it. Dd (the human, not the dog) have had to give up.

DartyPup is tiny but my gosh is she strong-willed. The vet said so after she face DartyPup her 2nd vaccination earlier this week and DartyPup jumped up into my arms mid-injection and clambered up on to my head. She squealed and barked so much that the vet closed the door as she was worried the next victim puppy waiting would think she was murdering my dog.

BiteyShark · 26/05/2019 13:48

Duchess love the name change.

BiteyDog bought me to tears with his first harness. I contemplated muzzling him because he fought me all the time trying to put it on. I eventually got an ezydog quick fit harness which went straight over the head, one buckle under the belly and a handle at the back so once over the head you could hold it and avoid the head iykwim. It had to be quick to get on him otherwise it would turn into fight and then straight out the door so all the other things distracted him from it.

As an adult he is fine in other harness types but as a puppy he was having none of it.

OP posts:
DuchessDarty · 26/05/2019 14:06

Bitey glad you like the name change, I was following your excellent lead! Grin

Soooo glad to hear it’s not just me who has had trouble with the harness. Darty is my first dog and I was worried I’m just inefficient. Funnily enough, as soon as I posted that I tried again as DartyPup came up to me after a run in the garden, and this time I got the harness and lead on with minimal fuss. Maybe Pup and I need another namechange to ContraryPup and CountessContrary Wink

We have an EzyDog Comfort harness and training lead. Didn’t see the quick fit one so thanks for the tip - I’ll get one if she continues to struggle.

DuchessDarty · 26/05/2019 14:12

Oh and I was also giggling at BastardPup having “then fucked off with a spaniel” Grin
