Grouchy before we replaced the section of mud lawn with artificial grass I used to despair over muddy paw prints.

QueenOfDarts, I think the puppy ones have gone quiet recently but this one is for anyone so you are very welcome.

I didn't try the toilet training in one area as I was just glad it was outside at the time. However, I really wished I had because he pees in random spots and the section of grass lawn I do still have has to be watered each time to stop the pee burns Angry

What breed is she?

Hello all - had lots going on so been MIA but things quietening down this week so looking forward to catching up on how all the pups are doing.

In the meantime, two questions I'm not hopeful of having a positive response to...

  1. Is there any fabric blanket you can recommend that dog hair doesn't stick to like glue? Ddog seems to be having a spring moulting session at the moment - we are constantly brushing her + sweeping + hoovering... which is fine but her dog blankets are just cheap fleeces from IKEA and they are SO hairy. We wash them in the horse hair bag which someone recommended on here which has been great for our washing machine... but when you take them out and shake them, an enormous amount or hair falls off (which is good) but an even larger amount of hair is totally stuck to them. They smell fresher but they are still so hairy!!! Any recommendations?

  2. is there such a thing as a "no catch" harness? We've now got Ddog on a tracker and she disappeared into the forest along a steep slope today (as usual and nothing to worry about) but then we heard her yelping, then silence, and no response to recall for what felt like HOURS but was probably about 10 minutes. DH used the tracker to find her - on quite a perilous slope - and then as he got near she emerged and found him but her harness was all skewed and one leg was out of it so we think she must have got herself caught on some branches. She was clearly spooked and subdued (though perked up enough later to have a good roll in donkey poo). It's been a great harness in all other ways and not sure there is any other solution? Think the tracker cost £100-150 and was very dubious about the cost but was so grateful for it today.

BiteyShark · 18/05/2019 18:14

distant don't really know the answers to either question. That heart stopping moment when they don't return is awful.

What harness do you use? The perfect fit tends to be very snug so might be better for not catching on things.

distantdog · 18/05/2019 18:27

I know Bitey, and especially as she went silent after the yelping...

She has this harness www.amazon.co.uk/TLH5651-Reflective-Stitching-Visibility-Adventure/dp/B077GX8PPR?th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

BiteyShark · 18/05/2019 18:31

Would it be possible to take the harness off on the walks, just leaving a collar, and then put it back on at the end.

I do this because BiteyDog runs so fast I don't want the harness to restrict him but I do want it for the car journey.

Evening all. Had a run in yesterday with a woman on the park. In fact I chased her off! Basics
She had mugdog as a puppy and also last year .
She asked if this mugdog,
me yes why.
Oh I had her, she ruined my carpets pissing all over them and ate me out of house and home.
Me. She's actually better house trained than my kids and if you say you fed her what on?

Then I went into rant mode that the poor dog was severely underweight, over grown claws , bald as she was stood there boasting

She then changed her tune moaning about her money being stopped. That set me off again. Especially when she told me her dog had just had 11 pups .

Anyhow went into mummydog mode and never seen this woman move so quick.

How dare this creature come to me trying to say she looked after mugdog! Did she fuck🤬 she abused her in the most horrid way. If I knew where she lived I would send the rspca round to check on her dog and pups

BiteyShark · 18/05/2019 19:00

Bloody hell drinkswine. Glad you told her what you thought. Poor MugDog and those poor puppies Sad

Still gives me the rage now. Spoke to my daughter the dog rescuer. She said this woman's dog has had 2 lots of puppies 🤬 shouldn't be allowed

BiteyShark · 21/05/2019 07:14

Feeling sorry for myself. I had to have an operation yesterday (nothing serious) but won't be able to walk him or drive due to pain so BiteyDog is going to have to go to daycare everyday for a couple of weeks and DH has a long list of chores.

It's going to be a long couple of weeks Sadbut thank god for daycare otherwise I am not sure how we would manage with me being out of action.

I guess it makes a change from BiteyDog being the ill one Grin

Sad Bitey. At least he will be knackered in the evenings, so you can just cuddle him like a teddy bear. I would NEVER do that with SquirrelDog when he’s tired.

New venue for scent class last night. There was quite a lot of hilarious skidding and scrabbling on the slippy floor. Grin

BiteyShark · 21/05/2019 08:38

They are so funny when they can't get any grip and all you hear are lots of nails clawing at the floor Grin

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 21/05/2019 08:58

Hope you're feeling better soon Bitey

That floor sounds like my nice long hallway which just happens to be perfect for playing fetch by lobbing a tennis ball from the sofa I no longer own anything delicate

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/05/2019 09:18

Aw, get better soon Bitey x

Squirrel26 · 21/05/2019 09:21

Grin His enthusiasm definitely makes up for his lack of coordination.

BiteyShark · 21/05/2019 09:32

Thanks for the good wishes. Just waiting for DH to pick me up and take me home as I have been discharged. I plan to do a mixture of surfing MN and sleeping when I get home Grin

Feel better soon, Bitey.

GrouchyPup has finished her season - yay! But I broke my arm yesterday so won't be able to take her out for walks for a while - boo! It's a tiny fracture so at least recovery shouldn't take too long.

BiteyShark · 21/05/2019 09:34

Oh no Grouchy, looks like we are both incapacitated for some time Sad

OP posts:
AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 21/05/2019 09:59

Oh dear Grouchy!

When I broke my arm I found it very helpful to have an extra short lead line this as a normal short lead was too long in certain circumstances and I couldn't reel it in with only one hand at short notice. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0036OB10A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lZ74CbKZKR3S7?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Then I just needed to avoid the rain for the sake of my plaster cast.

The joys of living alone and not having any choice... Walking along with a full length plaster cast, a somewhat reactive dog on an unusually short lead with a warning sign saying not to touch him... I'm fairly sure some people thought the dog had inflicted the injury as we got given a wider berth than usual Grin

BiteyShark · 21/05/2019 11:08

That sounded like a logistical nightmare Avocados

OP posts:
AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 21/05/2019 11:18

... And yet I still managed to pick up the poo 💩 which leaves the other dirty buggers around here with no excuse!

Spidey66 · 21/05/2019 13:09

This is what I came home to the other day. My 4 month old border collie puppy thinks she's the Andrex dog. She was left in the house for about 30minutes!

Just as well I luvs her, or she'd be down the canal with a sack and a brick.

So far this week I’ve had to rescue a multipack of paintbrushes, a box of cup-a-soup (broccoli and Stilton flavour), a family pack of cereal bars, the duvet and the nice lady who’d come to check the boiler from the attentions of SquirrelDog. Hmm

Spidey66 · 21/05/2019 14:34

That and socks!!! We nearly came to blows the other day when I was getting dressed, I was trying to put my socks on and she was trying to get them off!!!
