Apologies I just noticed the thread was running out so I am going to repost.

Raw feeding, week 9 all going well. Using Natural Instinct, one flavour per week plus turkey mince frozen into her kongs. Decided to DIY fish, so a bit of cod, bit of tuna, a few sprats, few green beans....threw the lot up in the middle of our duvet this morning.☹️

BiteyShark · 11/01/2019 20:17

Oh dear, have you managed to salvage the duvet?

We are trying a new wet food, venison and reindeer. Will be watching the poos closely but he seems to enjoy the flavour Grin

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 12/01/2019 22:09

Duvet rinsed out and dried. My fault, I gave her too much in too large pieces I think. The Natural Instinct food is minced up. She has had fish skins and bits of raw fish with no problem in the past. I pushed it too fast and crucially didn’t weigh out what I was giving her. However, nice firm poo this morning and eating fine.
Venison and reindeer sounds very seasonal.😁

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 06:28

Good news on the duvet front. My washer isn't big enough to wash our duvets so it would have been a question of chucking or finding a laundrette too lazy. It's amazing how much attention you need to pay to poos owning a dog Grin.

BiteyDogs were a bit softer after his new food but nothing to be bothered about so looks like it's a hit. I can't easily get his normal food at the moment so tried another company except they are about £2 a tin [ouch]

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 06:45

Trying lamb and wild boar today. BiteyDog is one spoilt pooch Grin

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 13/01/2019 06:47

Do you stick to lower fat food given biteydogs IBD? I might try Cocodog on venison raw cos at the moment we only have turkey, chicken and chicken and tripe that seem to suit her. Will be persevering with fish though.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 13/01/2019 06:51

Cross posted. You are obviously braver than me with food. I keep Cocodog on one flavour for at least a week to judge it, a couple of soft poos and it’s out😳 But then she is a greedy little so and so...not so easy if you have a fussier eater!

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 07:09

I only feed food that's high meat content and wheat free. Ironically I don't think food triggers his IBS. Reading about it lots of people do an exclusion diet but there still isn't any proof that it's food that's the actual trigger. BiteyDog has two types as well so different white blood cells invading his bowels so god knows what starts one type off rather than the other.

High fatty foods did used to affect him when younger but he was 'ill' all the time and probably was just surviving with a poorly inflamed digestive system before we knew what was wrong.

The last time his IBS flared up the vet said they were seeing lots of dogs with stomach bugs and it's probably a case that for BiteyDog it's enough to trigger his condition which makes sense as nothing changed at that time.

Soft poos for us isn't terrible as his normal is hard with occasional soft. For us the warning signs are soft poos all the time getting softer and softer until it's just a puddle. When we try new food if I don't see a pattern of soft just his 'normal' I don't worry as feeding him something he likes is quite hard.

Interesting that Cocodog likes fish. BiteyDog used to but turns his nose up at it now. Anything with trout in it is definitely sniffed and discarded so that rules out a lot of wet foods that would otherwise be suitable.

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 07:25

Gosh it's early isn't it. Typed IBS when it's actually IBD. Totally different conditions Grin

After her vomiting fish chunks episode, I had a couple of sprats left so tried giving her one as a treat yesterday afternoon. She sniffed and left it, wouldn’t touch it but dried sprats apparently fine😬

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 13/01/2019 09:08

Love the pics soubriquet, particularly all the noses lined up the door🐶

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 11:38

That's a lot of wolfhounds Grin. Don't think I have ever seen one in RL.

Wolfiefan · 13/01/2019 17:09

Here’s one! My dream welcome would be that many noses. Grin Mine is a lapdog too. If she can’t sit on me then she sits on the next seat. She also has a pony friend!

Are you still looking at getting WolfiePup2 Wolfie?

Wolfiefan · 13/01/2019 17:15

Yes. There was a pup available recently but eldest DC doing GCSE this year. Ideally would be better to let him get through that before getting a second. (And I need to convince DH to let me have a van!!)

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 17:24

Ah maybe next time Wink.

Wolfiefan · 13/01/2019 18:02

Just seen she’s still available. Must stay strong!
Wolfie girl was only 2 in September. Plenty of time!

BiteyShark · 13/01/2019 18:07

Can't believe 2 years has gone by. BiteyDog seems like he has been with us forever Grin

Wolfiefan · 13/01/2019 19:03

I know. Feels like no time at all and forever at the same time.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 13/01/2019 19:22

Cocodog was two last June. We were walking in our local town park on Saturday, it has an extensive wooded bit where she runs, explores and meets and greets other dogs and then we trot back to the car park along a path much frequented by joggers, bikers and families with young children. DH commented on how relaxed our walks are now compared to how stressed during the first 18 months!

BiteyShark · 14/01/2019 07:31

DH commented a few days back that BiteyDogs behaviour is so different. We no longer have to hide shoes, he doesn't bark at people walking by the front of the house anymore and he no longer runs off on walks.

However, he is still 'changing'. He is fearful of the toaster, skittish when walking and he thinks someone has touched him, won't play ball for long at home etc.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 14/01/2019 08:13

Cocodog lying on the sofa looking mightily fed up this morning, heavy sighs a plenty! We had a quiet day yesterday gearing up for our regular Monday morning walk with a friend of ours young lurcher. Friend is too ill at present to walk her, other help walks her dog on lead the rest of the week but we are the only ones who take her somewhere safe to let off steam with cocodog. And she really lets off steam, so fast. Cocodog loves her but comes home shattered.

BiteyShark · 14/01/2019 08:15

At least you will have a quiet day later when she's snoozing Grin.

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 14/01/2019 13:34

She has snoozed for a couple of hours, then pottering around the garden for half an hour whilst me and DH raked up hedge clippings for a bonfire later. Now back on sofa after a snack.🐶
