Abhorsen I get up first so yokopup has his breakfast around 7ish, he then have his dinner anytime between 5.45 and 7.30 depending on the last walk. I got into the habit of wanting the walk before feeding but usually it's around 6ish.

I can report that my DH managed to get a sample in the back garden this morning, no idea how he did it Smile he has been to the vet who said that it's quite unusual with UTI in young dogs, is it? What causes it?

Anyway he had an injection, no idea what it was and has got tablets, the vet will ring this afternoon with sample answers so hopefully nothing serious.

Wolfiefan · 01/12/2017 11:53

Hoping it isn't. I've not (YET!) had a dog with a UTI but I did have a cat with one. Dried food was a major contributing factor. Cats don't generally drink enough. Is he on dry? Could it be a factor?

Yokohamajojo · 01/12/2017 13:42

Yes he is on kibble and we have quite recently changed it as well so I think that may be a factor!

Wolfiefan · 01/12/2017 13:48

I know cats don't generally drink enough water when on dried food. Boy cats are especially prone!
Would he eat it soaked?

Greyhorses · 01/12/2017 13:52

I've discovered how hard it is walking a 30kg puppy and my other 35kg dog in the ice Grin How I haven't broken my neck yet I'm not sure.

Hope everyone's dogs are feeling better now!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 01/12/2017 14:06

Greyhorses, my pup weighs 0.65kg Grin my main problem is not treading on her! I can’t imagine trying to walk a puppy that big on icy paths.

Greyhorses · 01/12/2017 14:16

Bluths I am very jealous, sometimes I wonder why I didn't get something smaller! Grin

She is going through a leap about and scream in excitement at everyone phase so it's been quite hard. Luckily old dog is very sensible and trots alongside ignoring her madness but still holding 65kg of dog while pushing a pram isn't the easiest. Thank god for dogmatic headcollars!

Wolfiefan · 01/12/2017 14:20

Grey. Yes thank goodness for dogmatic.
I can also recommend yaktrax!

cricketbat · 01/12/2017 20:49

Hello everyone, please can I join you? I've been lurking a while! Old lab/collie cross dog died this summer (boohoo, she was a fab dog) and we now feel our 4 year old collie/pointer cross is ready for a new friend. I really want a border collie pup, anyone got any experience of these? No small people in our house, live rurally, big garden, work at home. Other than chewing anything left lying about and weeing indoors, I really can't remember many issues with previous puppies. Just time consuming. Is there anything I need to know/be reminded of, any Border collie tips? Looking at Feb arrival, I will dig out the crate and check the fence/hedgerow beforehand! Have found a local breeder who looks to be well known in the showing world. ...... oh... Mr Cricketbat just reminded me of the chewed doorframe by the loo 😬.

BiteyShark · 02/12/2017 05:41

Welcome cricket I don't have any experience of collies and fortunately my dog wasn't a chewer of furniture but I think that is because we camped out in the kitchen for many weeks until we got through the early puppy stage. It was just the relentless attention they demanded and needed (toileting, mouthing, training, zoomies) that got to me Grin

BiteyShark · 02/12/2017 08:21

Wish me luck today, I am going to put up the Xmas trees without any protection around them. Want to take bets on whether I live to regret that with BiteyDog Grin

Elphame · 02/12/2017 09:35

Good luck. I'm delaying the tree until the weekend before. It'll be going inside the puppy pen!

Yokohamajojo · 02/12/2017 09:45

We put our tree outside Grin

BiteyShark · 02/12/2017 12:07

Well I am not sure if BiteyDog is trying to lull me into a false sense of security as he paid no attention to the tree and laid on the sofa looking bored when I decorated it. It did help that we had a builder round so he was more interesred in what was going on outside when I assembled them.

Yokohamajojo · 02/12/2017 17:03

Yokopup didn’t really show much interest either! He was just happy that weirdly we were all out in the garden with himWink

Anyway in the UTI it was that and he is now on antibiotics and some other meds, the vet said about diet and to not have it too protein rich! He has always been on wainwright a bit then I stupidly tried tails.com and I think that’s the culprit. Would love to raw feed but we have one tiny freezer

BiteyShark · 02/12/2017 17:06

Oh no poor YokoPup, hope the antibiotics kick in quickly.

Wolfiefan · 02/12/2017 18:13

Hope Yoko pup feels better soon. We have two dog freezers. DH said no to a third. Bastard! Grin
We are not having a tree. If the dog doesn't eat it the cats will climb it!
Welcome Cricket. All I know about BCs is they are ridiculously bright and generally like a job to do. Lots of training and fun to come!

1805 · 02/12/2017 18:29

hello! I have a 7month Border Terrier. He is a v v v lively/busy/curious bundle of energy. And he wee's up every single tree he comes across!
errrm…I wanted to ask if anyone's dog pee's up the Christmas tree??

BiteyShark · 02/12/2017 18:31

My boy dog is 14 months now and still pees like a girl so won't pee up anything Grin

Elphame · 02/12/2017 18:51

Hi Cricket - my cousin had a border collie as a guide dog - very bright and definitely need something to do. She was great whilst working; off duty she was completely loopy!

Wolfiefan · 02/12/2017 18:59

1805 I would put a playpen or something round a tree. My mum has a Border Terrorist.
No. Not a typo! Grin

Yokohamajojo · 03/12/2017 20:37

Yokopup has a thing for border collies he loves themSmile

And we have a great little border terrier friend as well in the park! Welcome to puppy crazinessWink

Elphame · 04/12/2017 16:45

Well this week can only get better. Elfpup discovered the hard way that he can't walk on water. Dripping wet and stinking of stagnant pond water it was a bath this morning.

Tomorrow he'll get another one as he's off to the groomer for the first time...

BiteyShark · 04/12/2017 16:54

Oh dear Elphame. At least he did it before the groomers Grin

Elphame · 04/12/2017 17:27

Good point Bitey. I have very mixed feelings about the groomer. He's got to be done, no doubt about that, but he'll look very different afterwards and I'm going to miss my scruffy little pup Sad
