How funny Wolfie Grin. They aren't daft are they Wink.

Mine looked ever so smug when he simply chomped at the section where the cone connects together and it came off Shock

Wolfiefan · 29/11/2017 16:31

It's just worked again. She was nibbling the top of the leg. I got out the cone and tapped it. She stopped.
I have ordered a spare cone! Grin

BiteyShark · 29/11/2017 16:53

FGS I saw BiteyDog having a really good lick fest just now on the inside of his leg and happened to glance over and there is a massive red sore patch of skin which looks like he has injured himself. What is it with these dogs Sad.

I can't get a good look at it until DH comes home but it looks pretty sore and about 2 inches long 😢 I knew I should have got a dog that just strolled alongside me on a lead rather than running about lots (slightly joking)

Elphame · 29/11/2017 17:04

Oh dear - sore legs all round. I've just ordered some purple spray for Elfpup for when I need it.

Love that the threat of the cone works! I was at the vet with Elfpup this morning and they are selling what looks like a rubber doughnut to go around their necks instead now. It was being modelled by a very compliant plush dog!

Wolfiefan · 29/11/2017 17:09

Oh bloody hell Bitey!
So far we have tried colloidal silver and calendula and hibiscrub and horse wound stuff and thornit (in case of mites)
Any of those any good?!?!
Bathing with saline at the moment. Fun with a wolfhound!
I have ordered a comfy cone. Supposed to be good.

BiteyShark · 29/11/2017 17:25

I have put an inflatable buster collar on him and wiped him with hibiscrub. I can't believe it, it's one thing after another Sad

Wolfiefan · 29/11/2017 17:30

You and me both Bitey. You and me both. Waiting on a call back from the vets. Making a complaint about this last treatment.
Also waiting to hear if our dog sitter is happy to come this weekend (and sit with her for a few hours) despite the infection and lack of dressing. If not I am fucking cancelling Christmas. And I'm opening the gin. Gin
It's swearing or crying. Today I'm mostly swearing.

BiteyShark · 29/11/2017 17:46

Oh Wolfie DH and I have just been saying how our life was so uncomplicated before BiteyDog. He gives us so much joy but so much stress.

What's the issue with the vets? Obviously understand if you don't want to say.

Wolfiefan · 29/11/2017 17:51

Few issues. Won't be too specific. Prescribing medication without properly warning of side effects, almost ridiculing my concern at some products, not keeping accurate computer records (apparently I vaccinated one of my two cats?!) and the foot. Was told to leave a bandage on for a week. No mention of dressing changes. Hence infection. Hence three more weeks of treatment and it can't be re bandaged. So I'm losing my marbles here.
Eg. Tonight. Forgot to feed dog early. So can't take her with me to Brownies (can't walk for an hour before or after food) so I have to leave her. No bandage. Can't wear cone. So she will chew foot. So the fact I have sat here all day like a loon watching her is now irrelevant.
Do I sound completely demented yet?
I love her. I wouldn't be without her. But by buggery it's hard.

BiteyShark · 29/11/2017 18:00

Nope you sound like you're at the end of your tether.

My heart sank when I saw his leg tonight. I was just thinking how nice it was that we didn't have any illnesses. We have both looked and not sure what it is. It's sore and bruised but no puncture marks but an odd place to have a massive scrape (2-3 inches long and 1 inch wide).

BiteyShark · 29/11/2017 18:53

Wolfie Oh just seen you have ordered a comfy cone. BiteyDog still managed to chew the inside overlap of his and destroyed it just like the plastic cone. How is your dog with loud noises? It's fastened with Velcro and he went ballistic when I undid it so try and get it fastened correctly first time as redoing it sent him crazy Sad

Sorry to hear about the vets. Hope they don't try and fob you off with your complaint. I find how well companies handle things when they go wrong is very telling of how good they are.

Yokohamajojo · 29/11/2017 20:22

Well what are the symptoms of uti? Yokopup peed about a million times in his last walk as in totally excessive and has proceeded to pee inside 3 timesShock

How do you treat it? And can there be any other explanations? Totally fine otherwise, hasn’t drunk excessively and is eaten normally

One thing after another all the time! Hope paw gets better soon wolfie and that his sore patch is nothing serious Bitey

Wolfiefan · 29/11/2017 20:26

Yoko it needs a wee test. Yes you will have to catch action pee. I hear an ice cream tub (empty of course!) is helpful.
Peeing inside is a major sign. Worth getting checked out. Poor pup.
Bitey she's fairly used to Velcro with all the boot on and off practice we have had.
My tether broke some weeks back!
I was just thinking how nice it would be for me to not go to the GP for a few weeks. (Skin issue and biopsy) and for her to steer clear of the vet. That'll teach me.
Can you buy shares in the vets?! Grin

Yokohamajojo · 29/11/2017 20:45

Thanks wolfie that’s what I thought!

He’s now snuggles up in the sofa and won’t go out again until morning! That’s why it’s so unusual as he has the biggest bladder in the world usually

Wolfiefan · 29/11/2017 20:47

Hope he's ok.

BiteyShark · 29/11/2017 22:27

Hope it's not a UTI....Good luck if you do have to get a sample. I can't imagine trying to do one myself as I think BiteyDog would run away if I approached him with an ice cream tub as he sometimes has a habit of moving whilst peeing Grin

Had a good look at BiteyDogs sore when he decided to do his sprawling on his back sleeping routine. It's weeping but hoping a few days of avoiding him licking it and drying it out will do the trick so need to work out the logistics of using the buster collar and daycare Sad

Yokohamajojo · 30/11/2017 17:58

bitey sores are so difficult! Our one had two scabs on his snout that kept opening up as he kept scratching them! Luckily those didn’t require the vet and healed!

Vet appt tomorrow morning! He seemed better today and wasn’t obsessively peeing but then my husband stepped in a puddle by the back door and called the vet! Wish us luck at trying to get a sampleHmm

BiteyShark · 30/11/2017 18:11

We alternated the buster collar with a body suit today and although the wound is still very pink it's not as angry so hoping a weekend where he can't lick it will do the trick.

Oh dear Yoko it does sound like he might have a uti. I wish you lots of good luck for the sample. You might need some Wine and CakeGrin

Wolfiefan · 30/11/2017 18:16

Yes good luck. Madam doesn't like me watching while she pees so we would struggle with that!
Comfy cone arrived today. It's pretty good. She's not keen. It seems sturdy enough but not sharp or noisy when she moves. She was unphased by the Velcro. She did sit on me when i put it on but wasn't shaking or drooling. And when I moved to get the phone she stayed where I left her instead of following in a panic.
But last two nights she got the sock off. Angry

Abhorsen · 30/11/2017 18:32

Sorry to hear about the poorly dogs - hope they all start getting a bit better soon.
I’m just delurking again to ask another question 😳. Dpup is almost six months and I was wondering for those who feed twice per day what time do you feed them, or how long are between the meals? We were feeding at 6am (later if he wakens later - doesn’t happen as often as I’d like!), 11/12am and then between five and six. But lunchtime is a bit hit and miss depending on his daycare / when we’re home when I’m not working. Just wondering if feeding later at night might help him sleep longer, or if it would be too long from breakfast time when we do eventually go down to twice a day. (I’m basically just overthinking it but can’t stop now I’ve started)

BiteyShark · 30/11/2017 18:43

I feed around 6am ish (later at the weekend) and then around 5:30pm. He does get a snack (dry biscuits or dentistix) in between.

Glad the cone is ok Wolfie. Let's hope that does the trick.

Elphame · 30/11/2017 18:55

Glad the cone seems to be doing the trick

Yoko - good luck with the sample collecting. One of the hardest things I had to do was to collect a urine sample from a cat!

Elphame · 30/11/2017 18:58

Mealtimes are flexible here. Breakfast is about 6.30 when DP gets up and then pup goes back to bed for an hour (breakast is 8am at weekends). We'll be switching down to 2 meals in the NY and he'll be fed around 6ish I expect.

Abhorsen · 30/11/2017 19:40

I can’t even imagine trying to get a wee sample - good luck.

I spoke to someone who fed their dog about half seven / eight so started thinking that was normal - I didn’t ask what time they had breakfast but sounds like what we do is pretty much ok and they probably wake up a lot later than we do.

Cocobananas · 30/11/2017 20:30

Hi Abhorsen, my DH gets up at six am four days a week. When Cocodog was a pup I got up and took her outside for a wee and a wander, a bit of training or play but never fed her until 7am. The other days we gradually stretched her to 7am getting up. Now DH gets up and gives her a fuss but otherwise ignores her, brings me a cup of tea and I get up at 7 ish to let her out and start our day. 7.30am on other days. I think they do have an internal clock which can be manipulated but only slowly and with consistency. Dropping the lunchtime feed was hard but doing a bit of training with treats at lunchtime worked ok and I still do this or lay a trail of food around the house or garden, mine is very greedy! Supper is always between 5 and 6pm because she is tired and quite frankly ready for a long relax and sleep.
Bitey, Wolfie, sorry to read of out of sorts pups. Hope all well soon. I am feeling very lucky cos Cocodog appears very hardy which I am hoping is karma cos last Lancashire Heeler dog was accident prone to say the least and then was diagnosed with lens luxation at four.
