Also thrilled that Miracle and Kai won Friends for Life. I am crying watching them both now!

Catsrus · 08/03/2015 19:13

I did a bit of showing when I first had dogs - my first two, a golden and a flat coated retriever, absolutely LOVED showing, the golden in particular - but she didn't have a hope Grin. The Flatcoat did a bit of winning. My next Flatcoat was from the top breeder - had a real chance of doing well but it was clear she hated it - so we stopped showing completely. You can't show a dog that is not enjoying itself - it just refuses to move or gets grumpy. I've had retriever breeds which don't have exaggerated characteristics - they're bred for health and temperament. I'm rooting for the Flatcoat of course, he's gorgeous -

I would like to refer back to the malinois and the judge from the group. It was evident to me and many of my show friends on facebook that the judge - who should have known better - spooked many od the dogs by approaching them from behind or the side. Once the judge backed off the dogs relaxed. I can assure you if a dog is totally spooked there would be no way it would move around the ring.

I also want to add that one of my dogs shakes and puts his tail between his legs when he is excited.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 19:29

That last poodle had an amazing Afro!

Koalafications · 08/03/2015 19:33

The poodles looked hilarious, but I agree Viva that was an amazing Afro!

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 19:44

I went on a dg grooming/clipping course the other week and there were two large poodles there. Didn't envy their owners trying to learn to do poodle trims!

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 20:04

Fab, I loved that Maltese. Moves beautifully. Wouldn't be suprised if that wins best in show now. That's moved up to my favourite.

Koalafications · 08/03/2015 20:05

What the hell is thevbreedvwith the black face? It looks like a sloth.

The Maltese was a beautiful dog. I loved the Yorkie.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 20:05

It must be hard when you're a judge and you're judging a class/group with such different dogs. Surely your own personal preference of type of dog comes into it? So if you prefer gun dogs over little fluffy things the just get is more likely to pick a pointer over a poodle?

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 08/03/2015 20:06

I used to do a bit of agility and flyball with my old boy years ago. He bloody loved it. He'd race round like a loony and bark his head off. Now that was a happy dog.

atonofwashing · 08/03/2015 20:07

That was the Pekingese - ridiculous coat, imo.
Yay, the Maltese won. Beautiful dog.

For me. Dublin the gun dog winner vs Maltese. All bets are on!
Anyone else?!

Mylittlepotofjoy · 08/03/2015 20:11

One of my dogs went best of breed on Thursday. By Friday thy were out playing in a field with their furry family. Our dogs love showing and enjoy every minute. In he past we have had dogs that aren't keen so we don't show them. If a dog isn't happy it shows. Show dog have an attitude and they enjoy what they do .

Koalafications · 08/03/2015 20:11

I liked the Alaskan Malamute.

The Maltese looked so happy though.

I love watching the agility. Amazing stuff.

Koalafications · 08/03/2015 20:12

A right thanks aton I found its face quite scary!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 08/03/2015 20:12

I love Dublin. He looks like a bigger longer version of my old boy.

atonofwashing · 08/03/2015 20:17

Koala, I could barely see his face!

MSadorabelle - I just wanted to take Dublin home. I loved the way he lolled all over the sofa when being " interviewed" by Clare balding, the other night.
He has such a lovely disposition.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 20:21
  1. Maltese
  2. Bearded collie
  3. Saluki
  4. Scottish terrier
  5. .?
Koalafications · 08/03/2015 20:24

The flat coated retriever is gorgeous. That's my joint favourite with the Malamute.

bryonyelf · 08/03/2015 20:25

At this stage viva, there is only best in show and reserve best in show.

atonofwashing · 08/03/2015 20:29

1 Maltese
2 Dublin, fun dog
3 Scottish terrier
4 saluki
5 b collie.

But hey, what do I know?!

LoofahVanDross · 08/03/2015 20:30

i want the flat coat to win.

Arkkorox · 08/03/2015 20:32

Go on Fayme!!!! Beardie to win!

OP posts:
VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 20:32

They ought to do them all with positions so they can say they came 4th, etc.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 20:33

Scottie has gone up to third, possibly second place in my list!

GoofyIsACow · 08/03/2015 20:47

She keeps poking that scottie really hard in the ribs!

I love the saluki but i think the maltese will win
