WOOOOO!! GO SCOTTIES!!!!!

still biased

Made my day that Grin

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 07/03/2015 21:40

Aww Percy Grin

What was that brown and white hound with all its bones sticking out? It looked half starved. Are they meant to look like that?

VivaLeBeaver · 07/03/2015 21:43

Was that the Ibizan hound? I loved that one.

Arkkorox · 07/03/2015 21:43

Ibizan hound, yeah they're meant to be like a bag of bones! Stunning dogs though, met one on west wittering last year, the sheer speed is incredible!

The Ibizan Hound was gorgeous , makes a change to see a slim dog at Crufts , I'm a terrier lover but I thought the line up for the hound final has been the strongest group so far and the dog that won is beautiful and a lovely mover .

MrsPnut · 07/03/2015 22:24

Our best friends mum was there today, she had two yearlings to show and her bitch won reserve bitch for the breed.
A great day for hounds and I know how hard she's worked to get there.

SistersOfPercy · 07/03/2015 23:23

Murph and I will be keenly watching tomorrow night, he might pick up tips on how the well bred Scott should behave....
meanwhile in the real world

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 07:56

The hounds were lovely.

I've got a feeling that Scottie dog might win tonight.

Mrsderekshepard · 08/03/2015 12:03

What dogs are on today? I'm waiting to see the Lhasa apso hope I've not missed them? I hope to be getting one in the next few months Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 12:31

I think it's Toys and utility then the best in show. So you should be ok.

VeryVeryDarkGrey · 08/03/2015 12:34

It is toy and utility day, my favourite day! My mum is there with her tibetan terror terrier

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-31787558

this is very worrying

Arkkorox · 08/03/2015 16:03

So nasty that someone could do that. It happened another year to an Australian collie

OP posts:
emwithme · 08/03/2015 16:20

I love Crufts. I watch the TV show not-live these days so I can ff through all the "guff". Just show me the dogs in the ring (or doing agility or flyball), dammit!

So far this year there isn't a dog that I don't like through, but I'm a bichon girl at heart (had one growing up who I only got because he was 1/2 an inch too short for showing, his sire was Reserve Best In Show the year before he was born). I did junior handling with Daniel (because it didn't matter for that that he was too short) and really enjoyed it.

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 16:22

It's unbelievable that a supposed dog lover could do that. I Hope the toxicology results come back clear and it's just a coincidence, maybe an undiagnosed heart problem. But sadly I doubt it if theres been previous cases. I guess some people are desperate to win at any cost.

HoraceCope · 08/03/2015 16:58

21,000 dogs! what a lot

HoraceCope · 08/03/2015 17:00

is this the prestige of dog competition, or are they just saying that?

Focusfocus · 08/03/2015 17:03

I went and watched it on YouTube after reading this thread and found it abhorrent and pathetic. If there were tears in my eyes it was because I felt lucky to hold my cuddly fur ball who can't measure to any fucking breed standards and jump through pop up tunnels but lights up our home with love all day. I cannot see why these shows are needed, what the f is to be gained by measuring against standards, who gives a shiny shit about ancestry and pedigree and what is wonderful about stupid hair cuts on stressed dogs running through hoops with stressed out owners, being "disqualified" FFS when all they would want to do is roll in the field and snore on their mums laps at home. Not watching it again.

HoraceCope · 08/03/2015 17:07

according to the chat on you tube sometimes it isnt competitors but animal rights who may be guilty of poisoning
they look like they love the agility.

Arkkorox · 08/03/2015 17:23

Focusfocus you're being a bit ridiculous tbh. I do agility and fun shows with my dog and she loves it. The standard poodle that won last year spends all his time not showing ( so most of the year) and getting filthy in the fields with his pals.

Bubble2bubble · 08/03/2015 17:50

The agility and fly ball dogs looked like they were having an absolute ball - as did their owners!

VivaLeBeaver · 08/03/2015 18:03

The agility dogs certainly look like they're having a great time. I missed the fly ball. I'd love to do agility with my dog, she's got good recall but hasn't mastered sit and stay yet. I guess I need to sort that first?

basildonbond · 08/03/2015 18:07

And so do most of the showdogs tbh - yes there were a few dogs which looked a bit stressed at being examined by the judge but on the whole they strut their stuff looking like they're thoroughly enjoying being the centre of attention. Certainly the best of my dog's breed did his lap during the group judging with a huge grin on his face and with his tail wagging happily the whole time

LottieMumofWilfJenkins · 08/03/2015 19:09

Wilf has been watching at college and I am watching too. Very sad that the lovely lady who's dog beat Bumble in the semi-final of Scruffts didnt win the final. Her dog is amazing. She is deaf like Wilf and her dog is a pet and not a hearing dog. It has saved her life twice! Once when her car caught fire and once when it smelt gas in her house and wouldnt let her go in!
As i said to Wilf after we came second, you dont mind losing to a dog like that!

Koalafications · 08/03/2015 19:10

So Sad about the Irish Setter.

They seemed pretty convinced he has been poisoned. If he has, it's an awful thing to have happened. I hope he didnt suffer.
