Help - a Lovely but heavily pregnant Lurcher turned up at my door today

I know it's late & I know there's a thread for pointy hound lovers, but I seem to have acquired a heavily pregnant Lurcher, she was lurking round my house all day - very rural no near neighbours, every time I looked out the door she was there, very underfed but sweet & extremely sociable, after about three hours I crumbled & fed her, at which point I noticed she was HEAVILY pregnant & rather skinny.

I've taken her to the Vets', no chip, no report, so she's come back here, she had a show of mucus at the vets' and has been intermittently been panting very heavily, I've phoned the vet again (who luckily are personal friends) who told me how to do an internal, couldn't feel anything yet, so I guess it's just a waiting game.

I've had dogs in the past, but DOGS, never bitches & I've never whelped a pup in me life.

Help & hand-holds would be lovely.

So all the pups have names now - which one is yours Hound? Our dog was known as Batman as a pup for some reason (they all had 'b' names - we almost chose Broccoli instead) and our last family dog was 'Spick', with a brother 'Span' - hey had thin and thick white stripes down their noses.

Love all the photos on the Facebook link.

Hope Mabli and all the pups continue to do well and that they all find permanent loving homes.

Thank goodness for rescues and the wonderful volunteers that pick up the pieces in situations like this.

Anyone else following Mabli and her puppies ? A daily delight of updates .
Puppies feeding ...squirming and lying in a heap of doggy heaven ...eyes opening ...and learning to walk while falling over lots .
The foster mother is beyond brilliant . And Mabli is so proud and patient .
HoundsFirstSightHoundRescue on face book I think .

Thank you for taking Mabli in OP . She is in superb shape isn't she? The puppies are thriving .

EEVEElution · 19/11/2014 14:55

I'm following the pupdates on Facebook. So adorable and growing so fast!

Bassetfeet · 19/11/2014 18:04

Lush aren't they ?

DishwasherDogs · 19/11/2014 18:08

I'm following on fb - they are gorgeous!
It's so lovely seeing them grow and watching the videos.

EEVEElution · 21/11/2014 10:32

OP, are you going to take one of the puppies?

Bassetfeet · 21/11/2014 17:38

I would adore to apply for any of the pups . But can't through illness .
Poppy has a gleam in her eye that lures me in.......and Noah .mmm .
The loveliest thing us they and their sweet mum will go on to good homes .

I will miss the updates then .

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 30/11/2014 23:07

Hi all Mabli lovers, I dropped off my thread because Rachel & FB were doing it much better than me, HOWEVER, I've applied for one of Mabli's pups & am having a home-check from Hounds First on Thursday, exciting.

Hopefully we'll be ok, & if so, I'll post more updates, HF & Leanne have been doing an amazing job so I'm hoping to get an amazingly well socialised pup in the New Year.

Can't wait.

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 19/12/2014 01:45

Yes - Mungo is coming on the 28th, I've just got a crate & told the cats they're to have a chum, I'm trying to persuade my Mum to have a brindle, or Midge, there have to be some more adopters out there???

Anyone else been following the sight hound face book page about the lovely Mabli and her pups ? All eleven of them?
A mumsnetter rescued her heavily pregnant and secured a foster home with the most amazing people in Sighthound rescue .
All pups in their forever home and now mum dog is recovered and ready for hers too. Spayed and so looked after by her wonderful foster carers .

I can't due to illness foster but will donate . So wish I could help practically .
The alternative life she would have endured without HoundoftheBaskervilles care is too sad.

Run Mabli run .....go cracker dog ......but miss the puppies next time !

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 27/01/2015 23:16

Aaargh, I'm rubbish at updating & even worse with a camera, HOWEVER, here's some photos of Mungo pup. Rest assured, he's a complete git in common with all puppies, but he brings moments of clear and absolute joy & his ears smell of fluff, so we forgive him his moments of madness. He's a work in progress, we'll get there....
