Please can I have all of your pull through vibes please. I took on a 13year old staffy 2 days ago. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met but came down quickly with vomiting and diarrhea, this morning the discharge started heavily and she was rushed to emergency Vets. She has been stabilised with fluids, antibiotics and painkillers and is now heading to theatre for pyometra. I feel hopeless

Gileswithachainsaw · 02/08/2014 12:25

That's such a kind thing to do. How lovely!!

So very glad to hear she's doing well. I hope she has a long time with you and enjoys the love and affection deserves. Big cuddles

hellymelly · 02/08/2014 12:35

Oh that is lovely and she looks very sweet in her fleece!

momnipotent · 02/08/2014 12:43

Have tears streaming down my face after reading this thread. What a horrible life she must have had, all her Christmases have come at once, being taken in by you!

I am very partial to the oldies. There is absolutely nothing like the love of an old dog.

Please give Molly a pat and a cuddle from me.

DogandBeardedDragon · 02/08/2014 13:21

I have passed on all of your cuddles plus more :) she is such a sweetheart, she is eating out her twin bowl now with lots of encouragement and your such a good girl voice. Her swelling has started to go down and she just had a little play on the grass the 1st time she's ever done it. Once shes over this the next hurdle will be her teeth, the majority are down to the gum line and the last thing she needs is an infection.

I can't believe Molly has been here a week today. I can't thank Kim's home for elderly/abused dogs enough for getting Molly here and funding her pyometra operation. Molly has thought a huge battle this week and has finally come out the other side. Her discharge has stopped, swelling has gone down and scar is healing beautifuly. It's been trial and error with her food but she's decided wainwrights trays and soaked small bite mixer are great. Her personality is starting to come through now and I'm sure after a few months of tlc she won't be so timid. I'm back to work tomorrow after my weeks 'holiday' so Molly will be left in my dp capable hands. So proud of her

:)

Sooo glad to hear she's come through it all now. What a fab rescue to have supported and funded her operation.

May she have a very happy time From now on. I hope she can feel all the love and healing thoughts she had been sent.

KiwiJude · 05/08/2014 00:17

Yay, fab to hear that Molly has turned the corner and doing well although not so great about the thunder. What a lucky dog she is :)

DogandBeardedDragon · 05/08/2014 06:55

Molly has to go back to Vets at 12, her scar has closed and she has what looks like a large fluid build up under her skin with no means of escape :(

Poor Molly. I used to work in cancer care and seromas (fluid build up behind the lumpectomy/mastectomy wounds) were relatively common. They tended to pop a needle into the area and draw off the fluid gently, but not taking it all because that can stimulate further production. Perhaps that will be what they do for Molly?

Cirsium · 05/08/2014 08:07

Wishing your gorgeous girl (who reminds me of our old girl, Titch, who we lost in January) a full and speedy recovery from our baby Staffie Benji.

Poor Molly, she really hasn't had it easy :(

How has she been other than the fluid build up?

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/08/2014 08:11

:( poor precious Molly.

Sweetie, you still have my thoughts and cuddles. Get healing little one we are all rooting for your recovery. Get better, do you hear me!!?! Xx

DogandBeardedDragon · 05/08/2014 09:42

Thankyou all :) titch is beautiful. Molly is fine in herself although has been zonked today. I was at work all day yesterday so poor partner is feeling quite guilty despite me telling him it's not his fault. I was told by emergency Vets on phone not to feed her 'just incase' so I'm not sure what there plan is. I guess it depends on if it's fluid or I really hope not her muscle stitchs opening although sounds unlikely as dosent pop back in when touched and dosent seem to be causing her pain. My biggest worry is them needing to reopen the wound as the costs to the rescue so far have been £1000. :(

Loving the picture. Another one here wishing her well.

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/08/2014 09:48

Hopefully it won't require another surgery, or is a very simple procedure that won't be too costly.

Poor thing isn't getting a break is she :(

When this is all over you will have to give her a firm telling off!!

Floralnomad · 05/08/2014 09:49

Everything crossed again here for her x

DogandBeardedDragon · 05/08/2014 10:03

She's not having much luck bless her, I will update you all when back from the vets, her course of antibiotics finished yesterday so I'm presuming she's going to need more and the wound drained. Thankyou for all your thoughts
