Please can I have all of your pull through vibes please. I took on a 13year old staffy 2 days ago. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met but came down quickly with vomiting and diarrhea, this morning the discharge started heavily and she was rushed to emergency Vets. She has been stabilised with fluids, antibiotics and painkillers and is now heading to theatre for pyometra. I feel hopeless

Gileswithachainsaw · 31/07/2014 09:00

:) that's great!!

And not tmi. Times like this poo is important :o

Go Molly

Toooldtobearsed · 31/07/2014 12:38

Poo is very important [this is where we need a sticky out tongue]

I am so happy for you both, I do keep checking in to see how she is getting on, and it looks like a clear road to full recovery now!

Lets have more positive vibes for all poorly dogs and their anxious owners.

DogandBeardedDragon · 31/07/2014 17:22

All going well :) shes still not drinking, but is eating fine and isn't dehydrated. I was getting quite stressed about it so let my DP take over for a few hours whilst I got some sleep. I think thats helped to convince me she will drink when she's ready.

She does look such a lovely lovely dog, I am so glad she is well on the road to a full recovery.

ClaimedByMe · 31/07/2014 17:38

My staffy hardly drinks a thing, she does have tinned food mixed in with her kibble which is high in water.

Glad she looking so gorgeous today!

DogandBeardedDragon · 31/07/2014 20:36

Had a little glitch earlier, found some watery blood on sofa and no sign of where it came from, rang Vets and because she was fine in herself they think it's either a fluid build up under the scar or urine/blood/pus from the op as they don't flush the vagina. Just found a gentle food she loves and she washed it down with a big drink :)

Yay Molly!!!

I'm thrilled she's eating now

KiwiJude · 01/08/2014 04:18

Yay, glad Molly is up and doing. Lucky her to have found a home with you :)

DogandBeardedDragon · 01/08/2014 06:15

Good night again with Molly, she has certainly found her appetite and is having bigger meals now, stayed on sofa again with her and even managed a few hours sleep next to her, had to put her cone on much to her disbelief incase I went into a deep sleep. Here's Molly enjoying a roll yesterday evening

hellymelly · 01/08/2014 12:29

Fingers crossed here too. Hope all is ok.

DogandBeardedDragon · 01/08/2014 12:41

Good news, the lump under the skin is where the muscle is stitched under the skin scar, they had to go in slightly sideways to get the pyometra out so it's just bad swelling. There very pleased with her, we seen a new vet today and the poor women was in tears when she read her background notes and seen her teeth. Poor Molly just falls to bits outside of the house, vet said it was heartbreaking because she's just so gentle. Mollys stuck to my hip again now on the sofa but shes just had her lunch, I don't know how to get her to eat apart from off my fingers as she falls apart at the sight of a plate so can safely assume she's had a beating from eating off a bowl

Mollys teeth stumps

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/08/2014 12:55

Oh poor baby :(

Why people get a dog to treat her like that I don't know.

I'm glad to hear she's doing well.

Give her a huge cuddle from me.

ClaimedByMe · 01/08/2014 12:57

Glad its just swelling in her teats, hopefully they are not too uncomfortable for her, is she still on pain killers?

Her teeth are awful poor little lady, I have no idea how to get her to eat off a plate/bowl, my staffy was starved and she eats off of everything and eats everything super quick before it dissapears, every meal is like her last.

hellymelly · 01/08/2014 13:18

That pic of her teeth made me cry too. Poor dog. So glad she is doing well and that she will get some love now. Would she eat off a plate if you left the room? Or maybe off something flat like a tray, so she didn't have the same trigger?

DogandBeardedDragon · 01/08/2014 13:55

Shes on 15 of metacam once a day, the vets think the swelling should go down over the next few days, iv just gone and got a twin set of plastic bowls, theory been they don't look like plates so a try that later. She seems happy to be home and is currently snoring her head off :)
