Csn you share any you have come Across? Not just 'funny' names like Dave or Stanley, which are now common but actual unique names.

I've worked with dogs for 20 years, come across most names several times! We are about to get our first ever puppy after all our rescues so get to name it! Names I've come across recently as examples include Fleece, Pye, Valiant and Worthy.

I won't tell you what we're getting for now so it doesn't influence suggestions!

My dog is Mario. We haven't met another yet!

momnipotent · 09/08/2013 19:20

Dog in our local humane society called Anubis - I had to look it up and it is the name of a Greek jackal-headed God. I thought that was an excellent choice!

Also had a friend adopt a dog from the local pound and her name was LB (gettit?).

zaphod · 09/08/2013 19:20

Deefer. As is D for Dog.

I've known a Mario and several Deefers! And a cat called Ceefer (good grief).

I'm afraid I don't get LB

I like the sound of Anubis, how's it pronounced?

topbannana · 09/08/2013 19:29

Our working cocker puppy was going to be called Flute. On choosing however the bitch puppy ended up as a dog so he is Ghillie :o
I have known one Ghillie in the past but on a forum, and also a working dog.

momnipotent · 09/08/2013 19:35

LB = lb = abbreviation for the weight measurement pound, and she came from the pound (don't worry, took me a couple of years before I realized!)

I say An-oo-bis, but no idea if that os the correct way to say it!

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 09/08/2013 19:38

That's the right way to say it.

momnipotent · 09/08/2013 19:39

You are right OverTheFields, it is the Greek name for an Egyptian God.
