Outlander season 7

The good news is that the the bad news is that season 7 won't be here until summer.

I've not actually read the books beyond volume 4 so don't know what's going to happen, but I presume Claire will live and she and Jamie will carry on as two of the hottest and youngest-looking sixtysomethings to ever hit our screens!

Oh, well that was a nice surprise!
After the end of Yellowstone on Monday, and Grey's Anatomy the week before, for some reason I thought Outlander ended last Sat as well!

Feministwoman · 22/12/2024 00:51

Even bigger nice surprise, there are 16 episodes in series 7!
So we have another 3 to enjoy!

Feministwoman · 28/12/2024 22:24

Well that was excellent!
It really shows when Diana writes the episodes.

Feministwoman · 28/12/2024 23:50

William and Jane and Frances 💕
The whole episode 💕

MoChridhe · 29/12/2024 12:59

Really loved that episode. Does anyone else think Jane looks a lot like Brianna? Fanny is so sweet. William is well played as well, very honourable like his dads.
Go. Save our son 😥
Also loved seeing Hal and Percy. Lord John was my favourite again this episode. Lafayette is just so cute.

Feministwoman · 29/12/2024 19:44

Yes, it was a lovely episode, and they are galloping through the book!

Pity about not including Jenny relocating to the US, also Denny/Dorothea sub plot. Also will the Ben/Amaranthus sub plot come up, or has that been cut as well I wonder?

I did like the book interactions between Hal/Claire/John!

I think Amarunthus will be there in some capacity. The role was cast and will be played by Carla Woodcock. Check Google

Thanks!

Maggiesgirl · 29/12/2024 23:06

I think the Ben sub plot will be in season 8. Take Note what Hal said about if one if his sons was a traitor.

Feministwoman · 30/12/2024 16:43

Yes, I thought that comment by Hal was quite pointed!

Feministwoman · 04/01/2025 02:26

Yet again, insomnia has some benefits!

That was a fabulous episode, really great.
Real cliffhanger for the last episode for S7.

(Although all of us who have read the books know what happens!)

MoChridhe · 04/01/2025 14:19

I'm on the third rewatch of episode 15
It was everything. It took me back to the fabulous days of the earlier seasons.

Feministwoman · 04/01/2025 15:47

Same here! Was really wonderful

storminamooncup · 04/01/2025 16:28

is that the last episode? Whens the next one/series?

MoChridhe · 04/01/2025 17:07

One episode left. Will be in 2 weeks time.

stringsoup · 04/01/2025 18:26

Was about to get a 7 day free trial of MGM+ but I see they've moved the goalposts 😏
Is there anything else worth watching on that subsctiption?

Feministwoman · 04/01/2025 18:29

Things that particularly caught me emotionally from my third rewatch.

(Obviously there were much bigger things from watch 1!)

The stars overhead when J and C were talking outside, without light pollution just spot on!

The mardy Dr who wouldn't let "cunning women" inside the church , calling Claire Dr Fraser at the end😉
But then buggering off when needed 🙄🤬

Denny prepping his instruments, all sterile, all laid out as Clare taught him, he and Rachel scrubbed and masked to operate.

Buck and Roger 💔

And just why do we have to wait two weeks for the series finale? Anyone know, or is it just weird USA TV stuff?

Also did you see both Jamie and Claire in the painting after the opening credits where Frank and Bree are looking at a painting? So Frank knew the whole time that Claire went back !!!!

Also how lucky that Roger's letter survived the centuries for Bree to find.

I love Fanny. She's so adorable.

I did!
Frank and young Bree looking at the painting in the gallery

And Bree getting down Frank's last book , about the Scottish influence in the American war of independence, from her bookshelf.

Feministwoman · 04/01/2025 20:34

And yes, Frances IS adorable

Coming late to the discussion, as I waited to subscribe once all the episodes had been shown, as MGM+ is free for a week.

I thought the first episode not really good, but good and more substance and less silly plot twists.

The series doesn't need it now. I could have done with expanding more what they were involved with in terms of politics, etc..

Worst of all which somehow I had managed to forget, all plot twists end with some marathon sex session.

Not having read the books, it just feels like endlessly re-using same plot twists.

And a couple of episodes were written by someone whose knowledge of language is restricted to the 21st century.

I did enjoy watching it but wasn't really engrossed.

Also using a terrace of obvioulsy mid Victorian houses seems really sloppy.

I doubt there are many complete late 18th century terraces, but surely an attempt to get that right would have indicated they can do research. And care.

(Was going to use an image to illustrate my comment about the buildings and then found that apparently the first row of terrace houses built in the USA was in Philidelpia - but not until 1799!)

The Serpent Queen is pretty good (even if it veers away from actual history a fair bit)and Samantha Morton is excellent as Catherine de' Medici.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 08/01/2025 18:33

Annoying that we have to wait an extra week for the finale. Usually they only do that if there's a long weekend in the US but Martin Luther King Jr Day isn't until the following weekend.

IwantToRetire · 09/01/2025 19:30

I totally missed the fact there is still another episode. Maybe a reflection of how unengaged I was, and just thought oh there leaving it on a cliff hanger to keep interest up for next / last season.

Also mean that idiots like me who thought they had carefully timed it to see all episodes in first free week, will end up having to pay.

stringsoup · 09/01/2025 22:50

Thanks @KillingMeDeftly that sounds right up my street
