Outlander season 7

The good news is that the the bad news is that season 7 won't be here until summer.

I've not actually read the books beyond volume 4 so don't know what's going to happen, but I presume Claire will live and she and Jamie will carry on as two of the hottest and youngest-looking sixtysomethings to ever hit our screens!

Earlier in this thread I said I didn't hink much of this series version of the theme song.

But after the sad news of Sinead O'Connor's death I heard it reallly differently. :'(

Just so sad.

I thought that listening yesterday. I usually skip the song bit, but I listened to it last night

Just watched the latest episode. Will wait to discuss when others have been able to watch as it's still early in the day.

It showed a brief preview of the next episode. Next year Sad

MoChridhe · 11/08/2023 14:50

I'm on holiday and can't watch for another week. I have read on social media that it was a very good one. Season 1 quality.

I think I missed the preview - was it post-credits?

Loved the dedication to Sinead.

aqiarious · 11/08/2023 15:15

Yes @ComeTheFckOnBridget post credits.

Maggiesgirl · 11/08/2023 16:16

Loved it. Ending made me well up. Thought the dedication to Sinead O'connor was lovely.

God knows when we will get the second half, I wonder if they will drag it out as they can't film series 8 till after the actors strike is over.

aqiarious · 11/08/2023 21:21

It was a very good episode.

Samaritans999 · 11/08/2023 21:45

I love Outlander but it takes so long for each season to warm up! That was a great episode.

KillingMeDeftly · 11/08/2023 22:15

I know what you mean @Samaritans999 it ended just as it felt it was really getting started!

Brianna looked gorgeous this season in all those teal turtlenecks and the bangs.

That was excellent! Shame we have such a long wait

InaBarbieWorld · 11/08/2023 23:18

Where can I find out what the music was at the end? Didn’t seem to be the credits .

Mookie81 · 11/08/2023 23:32

I thought Ian was gonna crack out the goose grease himself! Grin

IwantToRetire · 12/08/2023 17:34

Have to say I enjoyed it more because there was so little of Brianna and Roger (sorry!). The little girl playing the daughter seems very professional / convincing!

As usual because my memory is so bad, can anyone explain what was the first occasion that Jamie nearly shot William. Or did I mishear?

I'm quite looking forward to how the return to Scotland and family will go. Especially looking forward to the reaction to young Ian's appearance. (Nice hint that leaving his dog could lead to personal tragedy.)

I love the way Claire's face always alerts us that we are about to meet a historical character. Not that I understood exactly who he was. But interesting that (assuming this is in the book) Diana Gabaldon seemed to want to try and make him a more sympathetic figure than he being known as a turn coat and traitor.

Maggiesgirl · 12/08/2023 18:04

Jamie almost shot William as a baby, while the baby was in the arms of his mothers husbamd. Lord Ellesmere was threatening to drop him from.a height, so Jamie shot the Earl, just misding the baby. .

IwantToRetire · 12/08/2023 18:12

My goodness - how could I have forgotten that? Thanks.

The only advantage to having the inability to remember plots is that it is very easy to watch a series a second time, and even if bits come back to me, its like all the things I missed first time round help fill in the plot.

Maybe I will extend my Lionsgate sub for another month and go back to series 1! Mainstream tv during the summber holiday months is always bad and this year seems worse than ever.

Just going back to the last episode, why didn't the whole family go through the stones?

Also, just to say I didn't get any trailer for next season. Just endless promos for Men in Kilts.

Maggiesgirl · 12/08/2023 19:04

I've read the books so many times, but as the series does diverge sometimes I have to remember what is book and what us series 😄

crumpet · 12/08/2023 22:23

I missed the dedication to Sinaid, but it’s nice that they did one

ComeTheFckOnBridget · 13/08/2023 02:46

I think because it's dangerous returning to riskier times. Also as someone explained to me earlier in the thread because they never know where they'll end up and time travelling gets harder each time. Wonder if the rest jointhem in the next series?

InaBarbieWorld · 13/08/2023 08:33

Thank you @MoChridhe

IwantToRetire · 13/08/2023 17:34

they never know where they'll end up

Thanks - I sort of remember that, and had this thought that Jamie and Buck(?) could end up in a totally different time frame to where his son is.

And could never get back to Brianna and daughter. So sort of thought maybe they should stick together as a family.

But I suppose more plot twists this way - althought I could do without the 20th century!

KillingMeDeftly · 13/08/2023 18:07

Looking at how several cast members from earlier seasons have returned for this season, I'm suspecting Rob/Jem and Roger/Buck (Buck Rogers?) have ended up earlier than they aimed for. And if that's the case then the gold won't be where Rob thinks it is because Jamie hasn't hidden it yet! I think??

Then the gold won't be where Rob thinks it is because Jamie hasn't hidden it yet!

Brilliant.

What twists and turns.

Characters could travel back or forwards and meet themselves.

Or their children as grown ups.

Or .......... ????

BorgQueen · 13/08/2023 20:59

I just read Outlander wiki to see what happens in the books 🤣

GurlWithACurl · 19/12/2023 15:10

Have just seen that Lionsgate+ is closing down. What does this mean for Outlander? Any ideas?
