aye right. watch this space.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 13/04/2010 21:58

No, 13/ 14 isn't unusual to have tried a drink, but it would have been a rare occasion where I would have been somewhere I could have had access to it and not been too terrified of the wrath of my parents when I got home!

LadyBlaBlah · 13/04/2010 21:59

Oh. That really is not too different

Every older generation says the same about the younger generation.

LynetteScavo · 13/04/2010 21:59

First drink, or throwing up form alcohol for the first time? The later 19.

hogshead · 13/04/2010 21:59

15 and it was cider or 20/20 in the park - but even i couldnt drink 4 bottles of wine (then or now)

thatsnotmymonkey · 13/04/2010 21:59

i don't think mum was handing over a £10 with that in mind. I assume it is pocket money meant for other things.

It all felt a bit Jeremy vine

whifflegarden · 13/04/2010 21:59

Agreed Aitch. Irony is that the parents wn't feel foolish though. Which leaves us free for guilt free judging

AitchTwoZone · 13/04/2010 22:00

jezz vine or kyle? hard to tell, imo. not worthy of panorama, that was a piece of shit dailymailorama.

mamazon · 13/04/2010 22:01

i was convinced i was pissed because i had drunk an entire bottle of ginger beer when i was 12.

im sorry but any generation should be appalled by a child of that age drinking like that.

and as for a 2 year old needing teeth removed... i just dont have the words

whifflegarden · 13/04/2010 22:01

he he he
Put him off wine

thatsnotmymonkey · 13/04/2010 22:02

viney, not enough DNA testing for it to be kyle

StrawberriesAndCherries · 13/04/2010 22:02

Right, off to watch Bunny Boilers and judge that lot now

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 13/04/2010 22:03

Bunny boilers??? What channel?

onebadbaby · 13/04/2010 22:04

These parents should be judged, after all they put themselves up for it by being on the program. And anyone who has a child like Leon should be made to answer to someone. Feeding a child to that size is cruel. I think they should do what she suggested and install cameras in her house to monitor exactly what he eats. As for the vodka boys mum- she is just irresponsible.

whifflegarden · 13/04/2010 22:04

SAC, what channel. I'm liking my look in this wig

AitchTwoZone · 13/04/2010 22:04

personally i think that some people's teeth are tougher than others, it's the luck of the draw, exacerbated by lollies etc.

choufleur · 13/04/2010 22:04

it's crappy tv, but still shocking that people allow it to happen to their children.

I'm quite shocked by it all. And i watch a lot of crap tv so am not that easily shocked.

WhasThisAllAbout · 13/04/2010 22:05

Lady you can't be serious? I didn't drink until I was 17 (first drink at all) and that was purely because I was petrified of my Mom finding out! For the record, she wasn't crazy or abusive- I was just well aware that her catching me drinking was well beyond her threshold of what I was allowed to do.

I clearly know this isn't the 'norm', most people try drinking younger- but surely if they got caught/were ill frm it they would have stopped? I don't believe for one second our parent generation- or the majority of our own would have sat with their Mom ans explained the why/when/ how of their alcohol consumption.

AitchTwoZone · 13/04/2010 22:05

crazy siegfried and roy doc now on more four.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 13/04/2010 22:07

I don't think it is about snobbery at all. I just find it depressing. I do think that parents have a duty to find out about things and do the best for their children. I don't understand why it is the Government's duty to educate them in common sense.

AitchTwoZone · 13/04/2010 22:07

in fact not even as glamoroous as s&r. snort.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 13/04/2010 22:08

I trained as a paeds nurse for a couple of years, it's normal for theatre lists to be chocka with little ones needing to have teeth taken out under a general anaesthetic, they did about 20-30 a day. Then there's the respiratory problems from the smoking. This isn't just a Liverpool problem, it's everywhere.

StrawberriesAndCherries · 13/04/2010 22:10

Oh sorry - it's on Livingit

nickschick · 13/04/2010 22:10

I grew up on a council estate, with a mother who 'indulged' in drinks drugs and men not always in that order - we ate what she remembered to buy- never saw a dentist and certainly werent indulged in any way.

I have never smoked
had my first drink at 17
have never taken any non prescription drugs
rarely drink

yet my dc are healthy children with good teeth and a healthy lifestyle.

council estate doesnt = ignorance.

these people need a hefty kick up the arse.

wonka · 13/04/2010 22:11

Right I now see it as my duty to eat the remaining 4 easter eggs in my house for the sake of my children!
