struggling with not judging leon's mother taking a wheelchair 700 yards to school to pick him up

Meglet · 13/04/2010 21:21

I really can't understand people who ignore blindingly obvious health warnings.

Leons mum is a feeder .

LynetteScavo · 13/04/2010 21:23

Why is the mum so keen to fee Leon now he's home from school?

thatsnotmymonkey · 13/04/2010 21:23

that is quite a big plate of food though, or is it not? What should a 5 year old eat??

EightiesChick · 13/04/2010 21:23

Do feel sorry for Leon's mum - she is a bit deluded but thinks she's doing right and needs help.

mamazon · 13/04/2010 21:23

"i guarantee they wont find anything wrong with what i feed him"

he's been home from school for a couple of hours and he's already had cake, weetabix and fruit, and then a very big dinner!

talk about not seeing the wood for the tree's.

whifflegarden · 13/04/2010 21:24

My mouth is WIDE OPEN. just seen this. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That boy is obese, how old?

thatsnotmymonkey · 13/04/2010 21:24

Leons mum is doing a pretty good job though? I feel for her.

Feeling alot of pride from her though

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 13/04/2010 21:24

1 portion should be the size of a child's fist IIRC, that portion was massive! He's also had weetabix with fruit and cake!

whifflegarden · 13/04/2010 21:24

FUCK me, 5?????

wonka · 13/04/2010 21:24

5 OMG 5!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 13/04/2010 21:24

He's 5 whiffle!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 13/04/2010 21:25

Is Leon's mum completely deluded?? She is practically forcing food on that kid, and she thinks she isn't!

Say what you like about the possibility of particles lingering in the air with the guy who smoked in the garden causing glue ear, I think what she is doing to that child is far far worse! Why does he need a wheelchair? She really isn't helping him

The presenter did more to help her than the useless dr

snice · 13/04/2010 21:25

I don't see how you can say his mother is doing a good job

nannyj · 13/04/2010 21:26

She needs educating, there must be something that can be done. That dinner was massive!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 13/04/2010 21:26

My DH would eat a plate that size! My 6yo dd wouldn't manage even half of that

flintski · 13/04/2010 21:26

eightieschick - i agree, Leon's mum is trying but really doesn't get that he is eating too much.

whifflegarden · 13/04/2010 21:27

notmymonkey. I'll join you on that bench if there's room Give me a minute to straighten my wig

KurriKurri · 13/04/2010 21:27

I don't think Leon's Doctor is really getting the message through, he needs to be really specific about what she needs to do in terms of diet and exercise.

gailforce1 · 13/04/2010 21:27

We have gone in a couple of generations from ricketts to obesity. Both equally life limiting.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 13/04/2010 21:27

People don't listen to the doctors though, I've seen them myself, they have a consultation where they state that they don't smoke, then they are outside smoking. Patients lie, it's really common.

Meglet · 13/04/2010 21:28

Surely it would be cheaper to get these kids a personal trainer every day + counselling than a stomach stapling op?
