I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

I've got a thing for both Gene and Alex. Ray is cuddly and soft-centred and Chris is delightfully hamfisted new-man. Even Shaz has a certain charm.

Ok people this is important! Go back & watch the second episode at around 53 mins when it zooms on Shaz you can hear life on mars playing, it's faint & dh only got it 3rd time

It's all about Shaz making a decision to stay instead of quitting. That's why I think it's all part of some sort of Gene-connected netherworld. It was, of course, what was playing when Sam jumped to his death.

I have no idea. But (remembering getting very growly over the first series) now I have got to grips with the fact that this is Not Real and doesn't obey Real Rules I can just sit back and enjoy.

(and is it very very bad of me to have made myself a badge that says 'I spanked Gene Hunt'?)

Have just iplayered and yes - it's at about 53.40. Was wondering what the 'poignant moment' 'AG' referred to in the Radio Times was.

Still think with that hair style/outfit, Alex would actually look more at home on the bridge of the Star Trek Enterprise.

But we've seen people die in Gene's arms before to - it was quite theme in series 2 - lending to the theory of him being some kind of gatekeeper. Sam strayed away from the Guv and it ended badly.

Shaz makes the decision to stay in the force and we suddenly have the musical allusion to Life on Mars, because who knows where that would have led her - particularly as Alex bumped into stars while looking for her - like she was at the edges of her own dreamworld. Perhaps the only real way out is to accept the situation.

I suspect he final two episodes will be proper confusing and metaphisically styled. As long as it doen't eny with the US ending, I'm be happy. Plotting by trawling fan forums and hastily cobbling together what they fouund.

So for the final time, I think this is some sort of limbo which the presiding bearer over the river styx is Gene Hunt He goes when he allowed them to die, and some of the even die in his arms.

I have just watched the Shaz bit when she decides to stay, and when the life on mars music is playing, I'm sure a voice says 'welcome' then laughs. I've replayed it iplayer 3 times now, tell me I'm not going mad

Why is there such an annoying commentary going on, like they are reading the actions out of the scripts - can't they trust the actors to act 'em or the viewers to understand what is going on? Thought it was a bit arch/in-joke to have PG's RL wife as the dating agency woman.
