I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

fartmeister wash your mouth out with soap!

Weird idea re dead police... But makes sense. Unbearable wait until next week again.

Hermya321 · 09/04/2010 22:49

Kay I've noticed that as well. Oh dear, that chemistry did make for some amusement.

Interesting notion re the dead copper being Gene.

Did anyone else notice the sort of fade out moment when Shaz agreed to stay? And whats with the stars?

Katisha · 09/04/2010 22:51

WHat's a Galex?

KayHarker · 09/04/2010 22:57

'Galex' is the shorthand term for the now fleeting chemistry between Gene and Alex. 'Tis a blend of their names, like 'Brangelina'. Only it seems pretty dead, apart from jokey uptown girl dream sequences.

mollybob · 10/04/2010 00:39

No it's not dead - she loves him - she thought of him all sexy etc when she saw him again after and he was all she was thinking off when she spoke to the psychologist back in 2006.

omg - the dream sequence was amazing

SolidGoldBrass · 10/04/2010 00:46

Just how many dampened sofas must there have been in the first five minutes of that broadcast?

And it is getting more mental by the minute but I absolutely cannot stop watching.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/04/2010 08:04

Hermyia - we did, freaky or what?! What did that mean? What did the stars mean?

JackieNo · 10/04/2010 11:10

I like Kay's idea of it being a netherworld for dead coppers, or possibly like limbo - between death and either heaven or hell - the Keats guy has his office really hot, so maybe he's from Hell, and maybe if they follow Gene, they'll go to heaven (overthinking, maybe ). Also, it seems too simple.

fartmeistergeneral · 10/04/2010 11:41

The only bit I didn't like in last night's episode was when they sent Shaz to meet that guy with no back up close by. They let him take her to a disused railway type place that screamed "MURDER AREA", not really knowing where it was and only when she was blatantly being attacked did they leave their van and run aimlessly along shouting 'SHARON!!!" when he actually could have killed her in about a minute. Bad policing!!! Dare I say.... Sam Tyler would not have let that situation arise.

Katisha · 10/04/2010 12:55

Yes I was puzzled by the apparent need not to know exactly where she was...

FunkeyMonkeyMoo · 10/04/2010 16:47

Is it only me who thinks Shaz is pregnant or am I reading it completely wrong [hmmm]

KayHarker · 10/04/2010 17:56

Funky, no, I'd thought it too.

I still think they've ramped down the tension between Gene and Alex. One odd dream sequence yes, but lots of potential tension throughout the rest of the episode just wasn't there. Don't get me wrong, I want to see it, but I just don't think it was there.

PictureThis · 10/04/2010 18:11

I also thought it too Funky but as she is now staying, she probably isn't.

CaveMum · 10/04/2010 19:44

Evening ladies, mind if I join you?

My personal theory on the "what the flamin heck is going on" front is that Gene is the one in a coma and has been all along. Alex, Sam et al are figments of his imagination. A bit like Sixth Sense IYSWIM.

Gene Hunt has been added to my "shouldn't but would" list (i.e. The men you shouldn't want, but you just cant help it) along with the delightful Alan Rickman and the divine Richard E Grant.

BelleDameSansMerci · 10/04/2010 20:32

CaveMum - we have a disturbingly similar taste in men!!

Now that's a good theory...

boredonasunday · 10/04/2010 20:37

The Gene genie aka Philip Glenister is following me on Twitter .

BelleDameSansMerci · 10/04/2010 20:38

Bloody hell - preen? Preen? I'd be doing more than preen...

boredonasunday · 10/04/2010 20:40

At least I think it's him...I know there are a lot of fakes on Twitter but he seems genuine enough.

Hermya321 · 10/04/2010 20:43

fart I thought that as well, Alex as a modern copper shouldn't have let that happen. She's about as useful as a wet hanky at times, for shame!

cavemum hello there! Yep so with you there, he's strangely attractive isn't he. You can imagine going down town one night meeting Mr Hunt and then going home the next morning smelling of fags and bitter and wondering just what the hell happened.

I do wonder what has happened to the chemistry between the two of them. It has just suddenly gone hasn't it. That was one of the best parts of the show!

BelleDameSansMerci · 10/04/2010 20:44

LOL!

The thing is, I suppose, that the Gene adoration is probably very little to do with the actual Mr Glenister... Bet he's lovely in RL.

boredonasunday · 10/04/2010 20:49

He seems quite posh in 'real life' - bit of a let down really. It's the rough edge which gets me going...

BelleDameSansMerci · 10/04/2010 20:53

Hmmmm... A posh Gene Hunt - now that would tick all my boxes!

CaveMum · 10/04/2010 21:08

I've seen Mr Glenister in real life - he walked past me at Goodwood Racecourse last year!

Audi sponsor a big race at Goodwood and had taken a box 3 boxes down from the one my company were in. Because there was only 1 entrance to the boxes everyone going to the Audi box had to walk past our box first. We saw Philip Glenister, Rupert Penry Jones, Dervla Kirwin, Nathanial Parker, Gerard Butler and others whose names escape me at this moment. The paparazzi were camped out on a small embankment across from the boxes for most of the afternoon.

BelleDameSanMerci glad I'm not the only one! My friends think I'm nuts when I mention Richard E Grant. Hmmm Scarlet Pimpernel

coolma · 10/04/2010 21:22

Alan Rickman has done it for me since 'truly madly deeply'....But, back to A to A - watched it for the first time ever last night and thought it was brilliant. DH was hooked to life On mars but I missed that too - so it's all a bit confusing for me. Very good though..

BelleDameSansMerci · 10/04/2010 21:35

Richard E Grant is lovely... Just perfect!
