I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

ooh, I used to do the Grolsh bottle top thingy.

BranflakeGirl · 08/04/2010 01:49

lmao!

Back to the subject of Ashes though...does anyone else totally feel sorry for Chris? Poor fella tries so hard but usually gets it wrong somewhere. Sometimes I just want to hug him...bless! And I am soooo just waiting for Raymondo to come out of his closet! Lol!!

And just what is it about Gene Hunt that makes us all think we so totally would... (and double )??? I mean, who here ordinarily goes for paunchy, hard-drinking middle-aged northern hard men?!

HinnyPet · 08/04/2010 16:45

Me. Reader I married him.

bellissima · 08/04/2010 18:03

Well HinnyPet, who else are you going to find down the Bigg Market of a Saturday neet? Not some southern softie in a jacket that's for sure.

Surely Sam also died in 2006? - I mean, I presumed that there was a body found when he jumped (doesn't Alex at some point say he died then when she was reading his notes at the start of the first series?) - hence no body in 1980 as two bodies would upset the time-space continuum..

BranflakeGirl · 09/04/2010 10:35

bellissima - I'm sure Alex has mentioned a couple of times that she met Sam and interviewed him before he died cos she does all that psychiatry ("PSYCHOLOGY!") but then if he died in 2 times that would mean he was in 2 times at the same time and ...I really need to get the 2nd series of Life on Mars cos I missed it!
I also thought the time-space continuum would get a little upset at Martin Summers shooting himself because if he was dead in 1982 then he would not exist in a hospital in 2006 to be able to go back to 1982 and shoot himself

Btw, I met a few non-paunchy, non-hard-drinking, non-middle-aged northern men in the vicinity of the Bigg Market (OK, technically, it was nowhere near Bigg Market as it was in The Mayfair, Trillians and Gotham Town)and they wore jackets!!!

Anniek · 09/04/2010 11:51

Don't think the body is Sam, still leaning towards it being Gene

Loving the uptown girl clip

Branflake - yes that's what I meant - Alex refers to either meeting him or reading the notes he did for the (modern day) psychologistwotty 'before he died'. So she knows he died in 2006, so presumably when he jumped off the building a body was found on the ground. So that's why I think no body could be found from 1980 (yes, yes, I know he's already in two places at once - and presumably getting 'older' between 1973 and 1980 in a way that the 2006 Sam never did - oh and of course there is also the child Sam Tyler growing up in the 70s- but actually having two Sam Tyler dead bodies/two Sam Tyler graves just seems a 'leap' too far...

Ooh - hinny - I saw the Jam in the Mayfair in 1977 (ahem I was sneaking in underage behind my curvy 18 yr old looking friend..).

BranflakeGirl · 09/04/2010 19:10

I think I shall remain totally confused until the final episode of series 3...and then some!

Oh how I loved The Mayfair (though not in 1977...I was too young to sneak anywhere and not yet in this country!)

evening all

PictureThis · 09/04/2010 21:02

Loving Alex's dream

Hermya321 · 09/04/2010 21:02

Evening!!! That dream sequence was brill!!

gizmo · 09/04/2010 21:02

Ahhh, Uptown Girl!!!!

That is f*cking brilliant. I can turn off now...nothing else this episode is going match that

Doodleydoo · 09/04/2010 21:03

OMG, how much fun would filming have been? Gene Hunt singing uptown girl - its the only way I want to remember that song.

PictureThis · 09/04/2010 21:06

'Riding the cotton pony....'

Thediaryofanobody · 09/04/2010 21:06

Loved the dream lol.

BelleDameSansMerci · 09/04/2010 21:13

Literally laughed out loud at the dream sequence...

Why, why, why is he soooo attractive??

BelleDameSansMerci · 09/04/2010 21:33

I see speed dating hasn't changed much since 1983 then...

Thediaryofanobody · 09/04/2010 21:36

OMFG shaz!

Ariesgirl · 09/04/2010 21:53

This is my first post here ever, but had to say how gooey I go when you see his soft side. Oh to cry on his shirtfront...

HarleyQuinn · 09/04/2010 22:12

Tonight's episode was brillant, loved the uptown girl clip

BettyButterknife · 09/04/2010 22:14

Ooh, I think Elaine(?), dating agency woman, was played by Philip Glenister's wife IRL! Brilliant episode

HinnyPet · 09/04/2010 22:17

The Mayfair rocked!

KayHarker · 09/04/2010 22:25

I note with some sadness that they appear to have killed off the Galex (oh, how I hate that term).

Still, it was all good fun and what was with the clip of Bowie playing when Shaz decided to stay? Feeds well into the idea that this is some sort of netherworld for dead coppers with Gene Hunt somehow a gatekeeper or something.

Well, it does in my twisted mind.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 09/04/2010 22:27

BB- the dating agency woman is his wife in RL !

fartmeistergeneral · 09/04/2010 22:37

Was a bit freaked with the Uptown Girl clip - to see how fat Gene's stomach is and how unbelievably skinny his upper arms are.....
