I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

OP posts:

So rare to have a mainstream show that isn't predictable.
Wasn't Keats sooo creepy? [shudder]
Can't believe no-one has mentioned the teaser for next week where it looks like Gene and Alex are about to kiss!
Whoever guessed that number as being the dead copper's shoulder number - well done! (impressed)

Ffrecklefface · 08/05/2010 09:08

Could Paul Thordy BE Sam? Ray and Chris said something about the old team being back together when they caught him... Probably a red herring, but at this stage I'm not ruling anything out.

Last night's episode was brilliant. Part of me can't wait to find out what's going on, but the rest of me is scared the ending won't live up to the build up.

Very excited about the spoiler for next week - looks like we get some Galex action, and Gene in a DJ with the tie undone (which is one of my favourite looks on a man!)

MadameOvary · 08/05/2010 09:11

Kudos to the actor playing Paul Thordy, he was so intense (and scary) delivering those "My name is Sam Tyler" lines.

fartmeistergeneral · 08/05/2010 09:37

Yes, remember Raymundo and Chris driving to get Thordy and wondering whether they should have told Alex the truth about who he was? There MUST be something in that.

But, if he has the 'answers' - why is he still there and with different face? (apart from the fact John Simm said no about coming back).

I was quite convinced that Sam had been sent back to the future by Gene who is covering his tracks. I'm sure Gene didn't kill Sam in any way - they were a team, a double act, and it would be unacceptable for that to happen. However, now this ST is running around, I'm not so sure. Why was Gene beating him up? Aaagh!!

fartmeistergeneral · 08/05/2010 09:38

OOh, that Ashes to Ashes quote is brilliant - will be mentioned in the following episodes surely!!!

Ffrecklefface · 08/05/2010 09:38

More John Simm as the Master than John Simm as Sam Tyler.

NathanBarley · 08/05/2010 10:45

But why would Gene want to bring Alex back into limbo in episode 1? That's one thing that doesn't fit with this theory.

i too am annoyed about Molly, no mention and no 'snowscreen tv' or 'out of tuning radio' voices and visions. Seems like ALex has lost all contact with the 'modern' world

KayHarker · 08/05/2010 12:42

I have officially given up theorizing. Firstly, I don't think there's an earthly of getting it right. Secondly because fan-theories can often be brilliantly mixed up and actually make the real conclusion something of a let down.

Rossco · 08/05/2010 12:48

I too wondered if the 'ghost' is in fact Gene!

What about Keats taking his gloves off to touch Viv, is this part of his devil/demon thing?

I love A2A

KayHarker · 08/05/2010 13:44

It does however, look like there's a return to the serious Gene/Alex in the final two episodes. Hurrah!

JackieNo · 08/05/2010 15:56

Yes, is it very wrong that I thought of you, Kay, when they showed that preview ?

And just spotted this story on the BBC news website, saying that John Simm and Philip Glenister will be in a Sky 1 drama next year (not that we get sky, so I won't be able to see it )

Katisha · 08/05/2010 16:04

SO was the RT spoiler then?

Katisha · 08/05/2010 16:06

Sorry - what was the RT spoiler that didnt spoil it for me, because cannot spot clues for toffee...

CaveMum · 08/05/2010 16:21

I'm surprised no one has picked up on what the prisoner (his name escapes me, but the one that shot Viv) kept saying about "I am immortal'. Gene confronted Keats about his visits to the prison but we never get to the bottom of it. DH reckons the prisoner 'sold his soul' to Keats in exchange for killing Viv, and probably trying to kill Chris and Ray too.

I think the angel of good/evil theory is a good one, though I'm still clinging to my theory that Gene is the one in a coma

JackieNo · 08/05/2010 16:35

Cavemum - I thought that Keats probably masterminded the riot, in some way, or at least incited it, in the meetings he went to.

What was the tattoo on the prisoner's face? There was something circular on his cheek, that didn't look like part of the scarring.

BelleDameSansMerci · 08/05/2010 16:41

My Stepfather told me that the RT spoiler was that Sam Tyler was in the prison...

CaveMum · 08/05/2010 16:47

I thought the tattoo looked like an eye - like the ones Egyptians used to paint on their boats to ward off evil. Perhaps that is significant, or I imagined it!

HinnyPet · 08/05/2010 17:58

Anybody else think the prisoner was Bill Bailey??

Clayhead · 08/05/2010 18:08

I spent ages wondering if it was actually Bill Bailey!

LOVE this thread

zen1 · 08/05/2010 23:07

Was out last night so just watched episode 6.
Re. Thordy: In one scene we see Keats walking away from the cell just before Alex goes to speak to him. I reckon Keats is working with Thordy, told him all the stuff about Sam Tyler so that he could impersonate him. Remember he is a con man and fantasist so this would be no problem for him. I also think Keats gave him the tin containing the blue print of the prison that he (Thordy) put in the envelope for Alex so she could "discover" what was going to happen. Gene had a point when he stated that the prison log showed Keats had visited the prison, so I think Keats engineered the whole thing and wanted the good guys dead.

A couple of things that keep playing on my mind:

In 2009, I though Viv was the posilce commissioner? Alex saw him/mentioned it to him in last series (or is my mind playing tricks?!) So how can he be dead now, unless this is a parallel reality?

The tin that Paul/Sam mentioned when Alex was signing him out - he sai 'there's a tin and in there you'll find the answer' that could refer to the tin Alex found in Gene's office rather than the tin with the prisoner's plans on it...

Clayhead · 08/05/2010 23:52

It wasn't Viv, it was Glen Fletcher (the one who promoted Sam Tyler in 2006).
