I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

Ok I'm showing my geekiness but when Gene moved to the Met he got a new number.

iloveasylumseekers · 24/04/2010 23:06

If he's an angel she's not going to get to shag him is she?

BitOfFun · 24/04/2010 23:07

Ahhhh, you are right!

Still too skinny though...

HermyaBC321 · 24/04/2010 23:15

ilas maybe he's an naughty angel......

LongtimeinBrussels · 25/04/2010 00:29

My godson reckons the 6-6-20 might also be a bible reference but I'm not sure. This is 6-6-20 in the bible:

"When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city." I know everything seems to be starting to crumble (someone else mentioned that earlier) but apart from that...

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/04/2010 08:45

It must be a nightmare for the scriptwriters to have to try to tie everything up because I bet they didn't have a clear idea of where all this would go whe they started writing it...

I haven't watched Friday's again yet but there wasn't any LoM music with Chris was there? Or did I miss it? Is that because Chris may have gone over to Keats?

Also, do you think that Nelson, the barman, might be God? Or St Peter?

fartmeistergeneral · 25/04/2010 10:02

The dead policeman must be someone significant, so to my mind Gene is the best candidate. Someone said he was too skinny, but that doesn't mean it's not Gene - could well have been slim in his younger years before being trapped in a chink in the time vortex with endless supplies of beer/wine/pork pies.

edam · 25/04/2010 11:27

I wondered whether the dead policemen is a reference back to that copper Alex killed in the last series - the guy whose body was cased in concrete? (Alex did kill him, didn't she?)

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/04/2010 12:21

Ooooh, edam, do you think Alex could be on her way to hell then? Or, does it not count if she was already in the afterlife/limbo? My head will start to hurt soon!

edam · 25/04/2010 12:52

No idea but it's an interesting thought...

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/04/2010 15:39

Just reading the letters from Keats on the BBC Ashes site (must get a life) and have spotted that Ray's middle name is Milton. John Milton did write "Paradise Lost/Regained" didn't he? Or am I taking the poetry thing too far?!

JackieNo · 25/04/2010 16:18

Hadn't seen the letters (here they are), and it's interesting that they're addressed to Chief Superintendant Nicholas Callaghan, or 'Nick'!

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/04/2010 16:22

Ah, Old Nick... Can't believe I missed that one!

CalmCalmCalm · 25/04/2010 16:30

thederkinsdame I was just thinking that the other day - firstly why would Gene move (he seemed pretty welded to Manchester) and then why would he be allowed to bring Ray and Chris? Mind you, I know nothing about police procedure so it might be perfectly normal. I just wouldn't have thought London was lacking in good coppers.

Am I alone in liking Keats? I mean, I don't like like him, but I'm very intrigued by him (and not in an altogether negative way).

Also, the hospital visions have vanished, have they not? Or have I not being paying proper attention? In LOM and the early series of A2A Sam and Alex got lots of snippets of what was happening in the hospital. I can't remember the last time this happened with Alex.

Did anyone else thing that Shaz was being deliberately obstructive when Alex asked her about the stars? She seemed to come over a bit air-heady.

JackieNo · 25/04/2010 16:34

BelleDame - my thought exactly!

Calm - know what you mean about Shaz being deliberately vague.

Hermya321 · 25/04/2010 16:36

Calm I know what you mean, I know he might be evil but as evil goes he's not that bad.

PinkoLiberal · 25/04/2010 16:36

she did seem vague

but am liking the paradise lost / letas / nick / fact that letter refers to 30 pieces of silver

interesting

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/04/2010 17:03

And, I've joined the Railway Arms thing but I have to say that I think our conversation is more cerebral!

Nymphadora · 25/04/2010 17:58

I thought Shaz was vague as she felt that she was hearing/seeing things which made her feel like she was losing grip.

BitOfFun · 25/04/2010 18:14

Alex didn't shoot or murder that copper though- it was the old Summers who shot the young Summers and put the gun in Alex's hand, wasn't it? She did kick the body into the concrete though.

CalmCalmCalm · 25/04/2010 20:09

Oooh Reality, you're right!

There's definitely a "Molly" and something else that I can't make out. And I heard the "souls" too.

Aaahh, what does it all mean??? And what am I going to waste time on do when it's finished????

BitOfFun · 25/04/2010 20:20

I'm coming round to the theory that it's a dead Gene who was shot as a young copper and dug up in 2008.

It irritates me though that they don't seem to have cast an actor who looks even remotely like Philip Glenister.

And wouldn't Alex recognise a younger version of Gene? he can't have looked that different, surely?

edam · 25/04/2010 21:00

Ah, OK, I couldn't remember - just got a scene of Alex and concrete in my head!

thederkinsdame · 25/04/2010 23:01

I think Gene is the gatekeeper of heaven and Keats of hell as has been mooted before. I reckon that the young, dead copper may have been a mistake from gene's younger days and could be the something from Gene's past that keats keeps bringing up as the thing they will hate him for. The bit where keats was cradling a dying Louise was seriously spooky. Esp the bit where he stops her from saying her final words.

I also wonder whether Alex is dead and they are fighting over her - will she go to heaven or hell, as there are no sightings of Molly in this series and as someone has mentioned there are also no hospital scenes.

Sometimes I watch it and think I am overcomplicating it all LOL

ChildOfThe70s · 26/04/2010 18:02

I am loving this series, although as the plot thickens I'm getting more confused! (thank goodness for this thread!)

Am I barking up the wrong tree thinking the Quattro's number plate is significant?

Its JLY 75IV. It just seems to keep being prominently featured during chases etc.

I am guessing it's July '75 but not sure about the IV (4)?

Any ideas
