I am so excited I am literally sitting here bouncing after watching the 2nd trailer

It's OK I know I'm sad, especially as I really want the "Gene says relax" T-Shirt

OP posts:
Rocinante · 15/04/2010 07:37

No I'm not sure either. I have preg-head and it's all too confusing for my rapidly shrinking brain

Nymphadora · 15/04/2010 08:19

Don't say that mine is going too! How pg are you?

Rocinante · 15/04/2010 08:29

26 weeks. I'm starting to get a bit forgetful too, though DH would probably say that I never fully recovered my mental capacities after having DD....

mumdebump · 15/04/2010 11:43

What stars? Was I watching the same programme as the rest of you? At first I thought the dead policeman looked like Chris but then there was a better view of him at the end and I didn't think it looked like any of the characters we already know.
Agree with Nymphadora about the US ending sounding really crap. I will be soooo disappointed if the UK one is that naff!

Hermya321 · 15/04/2010 12:50

The US ending does sound like a right cop out Nymph, why didn't they just stick with what we did? Ours was a lot cooler.

Rocinante My brain went at around six weeks when I forgot how to drive.

motheroftwoboys · 15/04/2010 12:57

Could end up as being something like the last episode of Byker Grove (which I used to work on)when the characters discovered that they weren't real - they were just actors and their story was determined by the script writer. The set kept disappearing room by room. Very weird.

Valpollicella · 15/04/2010 23:17

Is that really what happened Motheroftwoboys?

This has probably been touted, but I reckon Gene is the dead cop, and died in the 60's - the uniform is oooold. There a bit where Keats says something along the lines of 'they could have been great if you hadn't held them back'

I reckon Gene is a ghost type, who goes around harvesting other coppers in comas, accross the decades, bringing them into his world....

fartmeistergeneral · 16/04/2010 09:11

I'm also thinking along these lines, that Gene is dead and everything somehow revolves around him. I think he somehow sent Sam back to the future and that's why he's not keen for Alex to investigate Sam's death.

But I do find it hard to believe they have this little 'dead' world of policemen, merrily solving crimes to pass the time. Hmmmmm.....

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 09:18

Interesting theory!

motheroftwoboys I used to watch Byker Grove. Didnt see as far the end though.

JackieNo · 16/04/2010 11:45

rocinante - good spot on the Jeffrey Dahmer thing - it did kind of ping something in the back of my mind when it was mentioned, but I instantly forgot about it.

Not at all - 'Everything is significant'

Looking forward to tonight, which I think sees the return of some old characters.

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 17:36

Oooh who?

KayHarker · 16/04/2010 18:52

I think it's Litton from Life on Mars (you see him getting double-punched by both Sam and Gene in the title sequence of LoM.) Could be wrong though, it might be another episode

fartmeistergeneral · 16/04/2010 20:42

Can someone clear something up for me?

Near the end of LoM, this guy took Sam to a graveyard, can't exactly remember what happened, but I remember at the time not understanding what it all meant. There was a gravestone?? Can someone explain that bit to me?

PictureThis · 16/04/2010 21:02

Bloody hell you lot are clever. I've missed most of these clues.

BelleDameSansMerci · 16/04/2010 21:18

Picture - I only get them on the second viewing. I'm too busy just watching the programme the first time...

How tragic that I know I'll watch every episode at least twice

NanBullen · 16/04/2010 21:35

was the fireman they think is the arsonist in eastenders when he was younger?

PictureThis · 16/04/2010 21:36

Yes, he played Matthew Rose. He's also in Doc Martin. Belle I might have to start watching these twice too.

NanBullen · 16/04/2010 21:37

ahh yes, thanks

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 21:59

More stars tonight.

Why did Manchester ask if Alex wanted anything?

Luigi was acting dodgy too

Life on Mars more obvious on Ray tonight. After Ray nearly died

Hermya321 · 16/04/2010 22:03

Yeah Nymph I noticed that as well, I wonder what the relevance of the date is, 6-6-20, could be a birthdate of somekind.

CaveMum · 16/04/2010 22:05

I agree, as soon as Ray 'went dark' I told DH to listen and this time we both heard the strains of Life on Mars!

Do we know how many episodes in this series? I presume 6?

Nymphadora · 16/04/2010 22:10

8 I just checked.

Looks like Chris next week ,lets see if he nearly dies...

Hermya321 · 16/04/2010 22:10

Eight episodes in this series.

Just doing some mindless spoiler hunting and came across a picture that showed spooky dead copper. 6-6-20 is actually the guys shoulder number, 6620.

Anyone know what Gene's shoulder number is/was?
