Brand new thread for the Strictly Come Dancing finals - Go Team Cola!!!!!!

Ricky and Natalie were not smug, they were very sincere and I think that unnerved people.

All the 'Ola chops' and 'yeah baby' made me want to vom. Really like Ola, cant bear Chris.

Why has no one mentioned his freakish girlfriend who looks exactly like, but older then his mother? I know it has no real bearing on anything but I'm just wondering am I alone? His entire family are odd.

Ricky and Natalie were robbed, although I will admit chris and ola danced v well last night and their Charleston was the most memorable dance of the season and they were undermarked first time round.

Ondine · 20/12/2009 21:26

Omg I noticed the family resembalance thing almond, his mother/sister/girlfriend were interchangable - eek!

It was an emperor's new clothes expereince last night for me. Ricky's the best dancer of possibly any series. Chris and Ola knew it, the judges knew it, Ricky and Natalie knew it - it was all a bit bizarre. I did think Chris looked a bit sheepish when he won though so I'll forgive him.

maxpower · 20/12/2009 21:50

I don't think it's fair to say team Cola couldn't do any of the sexy dances, their first rumba was very good imo.

The final was difficult to call. R&N were technically the better dancers, but there is something incredibly endearing about team Cola that the majority of the voting public loved.

Personally, I didn't like Natalie that much, she was a bit simpering, everything was 'amazing' and she was a bit ott when she started crying after the semi final waltz because it was 'so beautiful'.

I was pleased that team Cola won, but if R&N had won, it would have been justified.

Arlene Phillips has been slagging off Alesha Dixon in the mail today, unfavourably comparing her to Cheryl Cole. If Arlene has an axe to grind, she should be against the BBC who got rid of her. Arlene should have kept her mouth shut and maintained a dignified silence. I have gone right off Arlene Phillips and sincerely hope that Karen Hardy joins the SCD panel.

LilyBolero · 20/12/2009 23:04

I really don't think Ricky was all that great - he may have been technically good, but didn't put any soul into it imo. None of his dances have that 'WOW' factor that some of Alesha's had, or Austin Healey either. Everything just felt a bit sterile with him.

Pennies · 20/12/2009 23:06

Well Team Cola's dances made me smile and that's pretty tough for me at the moment so they deserved to win!

sticktoyourgins · 21/12/2009 00:16

"Why has no one mentioned his freakish girlfriend who looks exactly like, but older then his mother?"

because only a complete bitch would write such a thing. What has his GF got to do with it anyway.

Northernlebkuchen · 21/12/2009 08:10

Yes what has his girlfriend got to do with anything? What a bizarre and unpleasant comment!

AvadventCalendar · 21/12/2009 08:12

Fancy that...

Family in "Look like each other" shocker!!

fgs.

I was sorry that Ricky didn't win. He really was an amazing dancer. And, as I've said before, I think Natalie is one of the best female pro dancers too.

I agree the "Ola Chops" and "Yeah baby" stuff was a bit cringey.

I would have liked to have seen Ali and Brian in the final with Ricky and Natalie. But since I didn't vote I can't really complain

tribpot · 21/12/2009 08:49

Re: the fake modesty face - in fairness, I'm not sure what the good dancers are meant to do. When they get fantastic praise they can either feign modesty or go "yes, you're right, I'm the shizzle". We're British, we can't do that!

Chris has reiterated on Breakfast this morning that he knows Ricky was the better dancer. And I did like the way they introduced him: "the winner of Strictly Come Dancing will be on this morning. To read the sports news."

AvadventCalendar · 21/12/2009 08:49

Good point RR - if you didn't vote you've no right to moan about the outcome

ooh I would love Karen Hardy to join the panel. She is BRILLIANT. Is there a rumour that she will?

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 21/12/2009 12:17

Karen Hardy has just opened a dancing school, her DH and mine used to work together, Schmoozing With The Stars emoticon until he left to help her run it. So she might be too busy. Keeps her profile high though.

If Aleesha leaves she would be a natural choice though, especially after Choreography Corner on ITT, unlike Darcy "not quite sure why she's here" Bussell.

AvadventCalendar · 21/12/2009 13:36

Just reading back, I cannot believe that nobody has commented on Bruce called Darcey Arsey by mistake then trying to cover it up

I was really sad for Ricky - his last dance was amazing, I found it absolutely stunning and I thought he came across as very likeable.

LilyBolero · 21/12/2009 17:34

not so likeable in this article (I know it's DM though...)

moffat · 21/12/2009 18:47

well the arm-snapping comment was uncalled for - perhaps it was a (very unfunny) joke - but asking for voting figures and wondering why he was not asked to the other event does not seem all that unreasonable.

It does seem a little unfair that he worked so hard and nothing he did would have swayed the voters.

LilyBolero · 21/12/2009 21:57

Just seems a bit weird asking for the voting figures - he knows Chris got more, and it's not like x-factor where they're really competing for a 'prize' of a contract or anything - it is much more lighthearted.

Feels a bit petty to me.
