The Breakfast Club made me cry

Have just watched The Breakfast Club. I had remembered it as a real feel good teen film but it has made me cry. Judd Nelson's character is so so . It's so different looking at it from the perspective of a parent!

Wow! What a thread - I've lived and loved through all these films. My favourites mentioned in this thread are probably "The Outsiders" - I'd have rescued Dallas y'see. I loved "can't buy me love" and actually downloaded it just a couple of months ago - methinks Dr. Dreamy has had a little plastique! Pump Up The Volume was/is wonderful, Heathers too - but "The Breakfast Club" is just heartbreaking.

WWJBD? (What Would John Bender Do?) Or rather what is he doing now? I'd like to think Claire threw him a bone or two and that he ended up OK - nice wife, couple of kids - but he probably just ended up like his dad.

I should say - I was stuck away at a remote boarding school when I discovered S E Hinton's "The Outsiders" in a cupboard in my math's room - I was 12 and I don't think I ever looked back. Aaaah Ponyboy.
