The Breakfast Club made me cry

Have just watched The Breakfast Club. I had remembered it as a real feel good teen film but it has made me cry. Judd Nelson's character is so so . It's so different looking at it from the perspective of a parent!

I need to watch Cry Baby again now! Thank you whoever said it.

And Running On Empty - that lovely scene where they are all singing in the kitchen,

Sunshinemummified · 23/10/2009 21:45

james spader yes, in fact in most things...

Ledodgy · 23/10/2009 21:46

Oh running on empty that's the one with River Phoenix and martha Plimpton isn't it? In fact isn't that the film where they met and got together in real life?

LittleWhiteWereWolf · 23/10/2009 21:47

Aw, I've never seen running on empty... must do a search...

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 21:49

The Breakfast Club is my favourite film ever. I tried to get dd to watch it with me earlier but she said it was boring and we ended up watching Clueless instead.

Might make dp watch it with me tomorrow now I've seen this.

southeastastra · 23/10/2009 21:50

it was a great time to be 15 in 1985

Sunshinemummified · 23/10/2009 21:51

James Spader had a certain je ne sais quoi ?

Must bow watch Running on Empty.

DH loves Molly Ringwald so is quite happy to watch TBC.

In Running on Empty RP's parents had been running from the FBI/CIA all his life because they had bombed a laboratory and killed someone. Think he met MP and had to decide whether to carry on running with his parents or stay with her.

BellaBear · 23/10/2009 21:55

Running on empty - river phoenix plays teenager whose parents are on the run from the FBI so keep changing identities. He meets Martha Plimpton in a new school and it challenges him to rethink the way he is leading his life. Great soundtrack as well. Martha Plimpton is really interesting looking. And I mean that as a compliment.

BellaBear · 23/10/2009 21:56

beat me by 8 secs!

Sunshinemummified · 23/10/2009 21:57

That sounds almost like The Book of Daniel by EL Doctorow which is based on a true story.

throwing in untamed heart to the mix - more early 90s but another one that mkes me cry

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 21:59

Flame - have I missed something?

TerryWogansMonsterCock · 23/10/2009 22:04

Was that the one with christian slater and the monkey heart Flame?

Georgimama · 23/10/2009 22:10

Untamed Heart is a dreadful film - and I speak as Christian Slater's former greatest fan. I was quite convinced that if I could get myself to Hollywood and across his path he would of course fall in love and want to marry me. The pulling part wasn't the challenge, as far as I could see, it was getting to meet him.

I do sometimes wonder....

Am I the only person in the world who hasn't seen Pretty in Pink?

FlameHasAnotherChick · 23/10/2009 22:17

I don't know why I love Untamed Heart.

Janeite - I'm thinking probably yes - Monday 4.32pm

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 22:21

Oh that's fantastic! Please, please let me know name etc. So pleased for you (and a bit if I'm honest!).

wintera · 23/10/2009 22:25

What about Weird Science too? Love that one!!
