I don't think 50:50 jury thing...I think it's random.

I said to DH earlier "we think" so and so is going to happen (having lurked on this thread) and he says "who's "we"" .

I don't like to admit my addiction to MN on all daily matters he'll think I'm bonkers !

Yes didnt go down well with the DP here either in fact he was really pissing me off as he kept calling the woman unstable rather than abused and depressed which has reminded me what an arse he can be (women crying = sign of severe mental illness etc)

Her defence team could only work with what she told them which was virtually nothing. She wouldn't say what he had done to her at first.
In an earlier episode the family lawyer judge? told the defence barrister "I can't imagine the facts now, can I?"

DH can't believe I am sitting here laughing about something as serious as vaseline.. it was integral and all the AHA vaseline has been making me giggle

would the judge have been allowed to try the case?
i was called for jury duty and couldn't do it because i had lived in a certain area of london that was slightly relevant to the case 10 years previously, so surely a judge that knew the victim wouldn't have been allowed?

GoppingOtter I think it can be any split between the jury. Don't they ask the defendant anyway if they want to "remove" anyone from the jury, or is that just in tv land?

Yes, good TV, and as an ex-barrister, although lots of bits were questionable, that end moment were you think you've got a result for your client, and then the judge does something that just seems plain WRONG for everyone involved, and your heart drops... Now that rang true.
