I think if anyone comes out of the woodwork, it will be a boyfriend for Joe. Or a rent boy he paid for sex inder the bridge on his runs.

Although i still suspect the baby isn't Joe's, but not the doctor's either, so I'm half expecting the baby dady to come out of the woodwork (and still havent' given up on my slightly in jest theory that she was raped by someone else).

TakeItUpTheJoeMiller · 09/10/2009 17:19

Ta Da!

CybilLiberty · 09/10/2009 17:20

So, the whole programme hinges basically on WHAT he was doing to his wifeover time to make her tip over the edge to murder, doesn't it? And until she can spill the beans (which I suspect may never happen) we will all be on the edge of our seats.

I think he told his dd the Mum was depressed and needed help so she was in cahoots with him watching her every move. It also undermined the Mums confidence.

Was she shagging that doctor though? Why shower when you come in ( and why didn't Jack ask her that when she showed her the pics of the shampoo lid off the bottle) unless you've just had a shag... The dd has yet to tell anyone she saw them having sex (or rape)Why hasn't she said that?

And more to the point why is that nice policewoman married to that twonk? In the words of the song

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 17:22

Blimey lumpasmelly you have one twisted mind {wink}!

I just hope she gets acquitted. Om MOnday I thought she was a neurotic fool, by Tuesday I was liking her and by Wednesday and Thursday I was blubbing over the baby and when Ella said right at the end, "Mummy".

On a (ahem) serious note, I don't think the BBC will turn this into anything else other than a domestic abuse story. I don't think they can now that its kind of been hanging around. Imagine the outcry on MN if there is some ridiculous twist at the end or she turns out to be just a cold blooded killer. What that would do to victims of real and similar abuse.

Now, as you were. Anyone got any vaseline?

LilianGish · 09/10/2009 17:24

I think the relevance of the waxing is to show she's getting a bit pubescent - and he probably preferred her when she was really young. That's why Juliet is so worried about the baby.

CybilLiberty · 09/10/2009 17:25

Mumsnet vaseline

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 17:26

LOL at the MN vaseline!

LilianGish · 09/10/2009 17:28

Why do you think she threw it away?

CybilLiberty · 09/10/2009 17:29

Not sure...not sure why she wandered off down to the park either...

TwoManyFallsAndYouGetABadScore · 09/10/2009 17:30

I agree headless. and the guardian story I linked to on monday kind of confirms that i think. I think they want to get over that abuse isn't about black eyes and "walking into doors" but is often more sinister, controlling and discreet than that.

MaggieBehave · 09/10/2009 17:31

I like the actress who plays the social worker, can't rememebr what else i've seen her in. she has a very distinctive voice.

what was that excellent line,,, something like.. so because we think she's fucked up we'll fuck her up a bit more and then see how she reacts to being fucked up ..

Can anybody remember it?

TheSignificantVaseline · 09/10/2009 17:32

Pmsl at the mn vaseline!

I take back what I said earlier about it being Dully McDullerson of Dullsville. The fact that I've been thinking about the programme for most of the day means I must be hooked.

3 and a half hours till we see if lumpasmelly is right and I, for one, think she is!

luvaduck · 09/10/2009 17:32

new to the thread - is great

what do you think the broken bit of china in her hand is all about?? am really hoping she's not going to commit suicide or worse, hurt the baby....

CybilLiberty · 09/10/2009 17:33

It's self harming, she saw her cellmate doing it and she scratches her eyebrows compulsively too.

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 17:34

But still so many questions even if it is as straighforward as domestic abuse.

The vaseline thing is really bugging me. Why why why did she throw it away???

good point

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 17:41

Of course lenin. Am a lawyer, don't do symobolism but that makes perfect sense.

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 17:43

that should have read aahh of course. The way I put it sounded a bit wrong. Sorry lenin

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 09/10/2009 17:45

MaggieBehave - the social worker was in The Smoking Room.

I thought Juliet threw the vaseline away because it was her tipping point - what pushed her over the edge. She just wanted the anal sexual abuse to stop. She didn't plan the killing. But when she went to the kitchen to get the vaseline she was in a state where she'd been pushed to the edge. The one thing she wanted more than anything was to not use the vaseline and therefore not be sodomised. She threw the vaseline away to get it out of her life for good.

TakeItUpTheJoeMiller · 09/10/2009 17:46

Yeah i thought she just wanted rid of the stuff.

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 09/10/2009 17:46

Must learn to type faster or refresh more. Lenin beat me too it.

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 17:47

Knew you'd get it dandy. You is one of them creative peeeppol, intcha?

said · 09/10/2009 17:47

Did I read on here or somewhere else (Guardian) that Joe put orange peel in his running shoes? If so, why? Or have I missed some very funny in-joke and am making a fool of myself by asking?

CybilLiberty · 09/10/2009 17:48

Fragrancing purposes.
