But the guardian review say it's the best drama about domestic abuse ever. So it must on a technicality be about an abused woman. Surely?

I'm not sure that Joe had been abusing Ella, but I do think he was grooming her to tke her mother's place (all the looking after mum stuff, teamwork etc)

DH is now watching Wed and Thurs' episodes on BT Vision and we'll watch the last one tonight at 9pm.

Great thread. I only saw last night's episode, but have been frantically reading this to catch up on the action. Don't know what to do for the next hour - but I do remember from a previous 5 part criminal justice, the ending left many unanswered questions and threw in a few clever last minute twists, so I'm not getting my hopes up for it all to be neatly tied off. Some of the mn theories may have to suffice!
