Anyone going to watch - looks interesting?

OP posts:
SuziSeis · 19/04/2009 22:27

i almost felt that some of them were so darn 'clever'
trying to undermine and belittle the case worker woman
so good at manipulation to keep their prey quiet

SuziSeis · 19/04/2009 22:27

yes expat

manipulative

ALL of them

expatinscotland · 19/04/2009 22:28

'so good at manipulation to keep their prey quiet '

and to manipulate case and social workers, parole boards, etc. in order to gain greater priviledges or even freedom in order to re-offend.

morningpaper · 19/04/2009 22:28

actually that female doctor was really annoying and smug

I would have preferred her out of the room too

It was a bit mad that he didn't like her so that was a black mark against him - does he have to like and be humble before EVERYONE he confronts to prove that ermmm he isn't going to abuse a child? That seemed somewhat incoherent

noddyholder · 19/04/2009 22:28

It was an interesting programme. There is very little data on castration and its success and that has always surprised mr.Paedophilia in itself is not an offence it is a sexual persuasion iy is acting on it that is illegal.Nothing can take away someones sexuality but if they can't act on it and there are no urges surely living in the community would be a possibility.

jeminthecity · 19/04/2009 22:29

SuziSeis · 19/04/2009 22:31

ermm well there is EVERYONE to understand if this is something that millions of people do and if we want to decide what to do with them

morningpaper · 19/04/2009 22:33

everyTHING

morningpaper · 19/04/2009 22:33

and none of them raped children in the technical sense

ra29needsabettername · 19/04/2009 22:34

Actually dittany - I'd say we should try to understand all disturbed or deviant behaviour. Again that does not mean to say we forgive it or think it's acceptable. How does it help not to try to understand - we just remain ignorant and can not make any difference at all in preventing future casualties.

izyboy · 19/04/2009 22:35

I feel very strongly that it is an act of kindness to the paedophile to keep him/her out of society.

GracieGrace · 19/04/2009 22:35

I foudn it really dull tbh.
repetitive

noddyholder · 19/04/2009 22:35

There is plenty to understand because no matter how these people are dealt with there is n othing that will stop more of the same being found in every generation so surely thre is a need to understand this.It is not sympathy with the crime but a willingness to address it with debate etc.I don't think anyone in their right mind would condone their actions manipulative and devious yes but still here and needing to be dealt with

morningpaper · 19/04/2009 22:36

Yes Gracie a lot of Louis' things are a bit dull

I often think that if this is the MOST EXCITING part of two weeks of filming, then the rest must have been amazingly tedious

Deemented · 19/04/2009 22:36

Well thats ok then, isn't it, morningpaper? As long as they didn't actually do the deed, then the kids really don't matter....

morningpaper · 19/04/2009 22:37

Yes that is what I said of course

yappybluedog · 19/04/2009 22:37

yes, Chris Langham

had to ditch all dd's Boobah videos (she was a big fan) can't bear him now

but Louis, he's soooo lovely

noddyholder · 19/04/2009 22:38

This programme wasn't about the victims it was about the role of rehab and whether it is effective in these cases.

SuziSeis · 19/04/2009 22:38

maybe if the heads of the abusers were not so geared towards self protection then we might get some answers

my experience is that they are so absorbed by what they do/have done that they lose perspective on truth

that renders them pretty untreatable imo

sex offender and honesty is a misnomer

morningpaper · 19/04/2009 22:39

Was Chris Langham a Boobah?

SuziSeis · 19/04/2009 22:40

did it alter their status as a sex offender that none of them 'actually raped' a child MP?
