I wondered if anyone knows when Ashes is back? Can't be too long now surely?

Have been watching Life on Mars again on BT Vision and forgot how jaw-droppingly fab it was....

OH COME ON! That was fantastic! Sam and Annie SQUEEE!!

Jackie dealt with swiftly, but fun still had with it, and the layers of the onion peeling back to reveal the bigger mystery, loving it.

And the final exchange! Delicious indeed! Go on Bols, we all know you want to, and if you don't you need your head read.

JackieNo · 11/05/2009 22:16

And Adrian Dunbar definitely appearing next week. And 'Operation Rose' (I had a bit of a Doctor Who moment when he said that, for some reason - bit of a Rose/Bad Wolf thing with the portenteous words).

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 22:42

Operation Rose.

Reminded me of 'Rosebud' actually

Oh, I'm buzzing my little shipper backside off. And I've just finished the second chapter of my Mills and Boon thingy, so the I am feeling very chipper all round.

Oh they're going to be screencapping this one to death, aren't they? Now, where can I fanfic in the sex ?

JackieNo · 11/05/2009 22:49

Ah yes, Kay, me too (Rosebud), but not for long, overtaken by the Who stuff. Do us some links, please...
And what names did you end up with for the Mills and Boon in the end?

TigersChick · 11/05/2009 22:52

Right - have had to stay away from the thread for a couple of weeks as had last 2 episodes on tape and didn't want to accidentally read any spoilers. Have finally caught up ... so ...

Kay - Fantastic writing - am Also starting to like your idea of Gene also being in a coma... I just keep remembering the line at the end of the last serise about him always being where he is needed; like a guardian angel type of thing ...

It was great to get a 'touch' with the whole Sam and Annie thing. One question tho, it's now 1982; Sam Tyler was in 1972, but no one who was in both serise seems to have noticed the 10 year gap yet they talk about Sam and Annie in the long-term ... bit confused (but it doesn't take much )

I was a bit disappointed with the demise of Mac but I guess if it'd been different then there would always be a question mark over it coming back to haunt them.

Can't wait for next week!!

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 22:57

Caroline Marshall is my heroine. I'm afraid I stuck with James for my hero, because I read a few recent ones and every time the bloke had a wanky name, I just hated their guts. Mind you, I'm confident it'll be fine - the latest one I read, the hero was called Kevin.

I have thrown in a couple of MN references for a laugh - one of the places they meet is called the Gregg suite

Aaanyway... it's a bit early for screencaps or fic, but if I find any, I shall do the linkies (and naturally, if I write any, too.)

BitOfFun · 11/05/2009 23:12

Looking forward to it Kay!

Loved this week's episode...I liked the reference to Sam too- can anyone remind me how he died?

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 23:26

He drove into a river, if I recall aright - Ray told Alex that he didn't wait for the Guv. His body was never found.

LovingtheSilverFox · 11/05/2009 23:31

Never watched Life on Mars, and only came to Ashes to Ashes during this series, mainly to see what all the fuss was about. Am now loving it, although DH ruined it by saying at the beginning of the episode "how many more are in this series? its getting boring now" Shut him up by ramming placing my slipper in his mouth. I then had to leave the room for several minutes, when I came back DH was laughing hard at the one liners and quoting lines to me that I had missed. He tries to act hip, but he is still an 80's boy at heart. You can take the man out of the capri.....

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 12/05/2009 16:06

Here's my latest fan scribbling.

Obvious I'm in the early chapters of a romance novel, much?

JackieNo · 12/05/2009 16:32

Lovely stuff Kay . Did you watch Cranford, and the scene where he was dying, and he brushed the back of thingy's hand (can't remember her name) as she was helping him to write his will? That was a scene that made me hold my breath, it was so sad, and yet so romantic. Definitely UST, or maybe URT (Romantic). The only contact they could ever have.

JackieNo · 12/05/2009 16:33

, obviously!

JackieNo · 12/05/2009 16:40

Ah, just found it on youtube, here (just after a minute in), and it's actually her brushing his hand. But still chokes me up.

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 12/05/2009 16:41

I've only seen bits of of Cranford - wasn't Dh's cuppa tea, so I haven't seen all of it. It's on the list

Couldn't resist this idea after seeing them sleeping with their hands so close together... like so.

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 12/05/2009 16:46

sobs like a baby and crosses Cranford off the list

JackieNo · 12/05/2009 16:47

(is that a word ?)

JackieNo · 12/05/2009 17:06

No, don't cross Cranford off the list - it's fab . PG in breeches: how can you resist? Good feelgood tv (except for the dying, obviously).

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 12/05/2009 17:13

Yeah, the dying thing is probably not up there with feel-good factor

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 17/05/2009 22:37

More mushy stuff, for them as likes it.

procrastinatingparent · 18/05/2009 16:00

Lovely.

I might have to break a lifetime ban on M&B when your magnum opus is published if it's as good as that.

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 18/05/2009 16:38

hee hee, pp - you are lovely. I shall be dedicating it, should I even get to publication, to my MN pals, naturellement!

procrastinatingparent · 18/05/2009 19:48

So tonight, I will be able to watch A2A in the sitting room but DH's meeting is in the room with the computer so I will not be able to squee with the rest of you.

I'm hoping it is a very squee-able episode, though.

Enjoy!

TigersChick · 18/05/2009 21:16

Really liking the new instalment Kay!

PP - I used to have a similar problem (tv upstairs, puta downstairs) then DH got a new phone that came with a free laptop and, hey presto, here I am

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 18/05/2009 22:47

Quietly jealous Gene. Loving it.

Revised opinion - Martin Summers in the bed at beginning, no? She made the right choice! So pleased about that. Thankfully didn't go completely bonkers around her ex-husband-as-a-boy like she used to with her mother, which still makes my toes curl on the DVDs.

And again, quietly jealous Gene? And disappointed-wanting-to-comfort-Alex Gene? And Noticing-Mr-Summers-and-Alex's-No-Thankyou Gene?

I am totally in approval about all this.

JackieNo · 18/05/2009 23:02

Yes to Martin Summers in the bed at the beginning. Yes, yes, yes to quietly jealous Gene . How soon did you guess the 'twist' of who Gaynor was? I got it just after she was interviewed - it was the lips on the photo that gave it away for me.

Oh, and Luigi seems to know an awful lot about things: 'I think you made the right choice' - what's that all about then?
