I wondered if anyone knows when Ashes is back? Can't be too long now surely?

Have been watching Life on Mars again on BT Vision and forgot how jaw-droppingly fab it was....

Actually I've just realised that I now have John Taylor's hair. That's a bit lowering.

Anyway, my mac is now imploding and I face a week that will make racing-against-time-to-foil-animal-liberationist-maniac-plot look like a frolicsome picnic, so I shall bid you all good night and happy gene dreams.

solidgoldSneezeLikeApig · 04/05/2009 23:38

They've kind of noticed that lots of women get all unneccessary over the Gene Genie, haven't they? Last week was that sauna scene (slaps self on back of neck quite hard) and this week it was the 'I don't need a manual' line that made me drop my cup of tea...

Oooh, glad I wasn't the only one to spot the Duran Duran track being from 83 not 82.
And BTW great stories, Kay.

procrastinatingparent · 06/05/2009 21:32

Just watched this week's episode and at the trailer. But as someone who never saw all the episodes of LoM, could anyone bring me up to speed on who Jackie Queen is?

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 07/05/2009 21:20

Jackie Queen was a journalist who wrote an article on a shooting incident Gene Hunt was involved with. I think it's series 1 Life on Mars - Gene, Sam and Annie are held hostage in a newspaper office.

There's a lot of antagonism between her and Gene in the ep. because she doesn't trust him, and he doesn't trust her. There's also a definite spark between them, though, and it's totally in character that they might have had a fling.

procrastinatingparent · 07/05/2009 21:32

Ta muchly.

lottiejenkins · 08/05/2009 10:42

Adrian Dunbar is down for seven episodes on imdb.............. as a character called Martin summers!!

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 16:53

Sammy boy is going to get a mention...

bounces up and down like a loon

Come on people, I can feel in me water that this is going to be a good one, don't miss out!

procrastinatingparent · 11/05/2009 17:06

Finally I can watch this week's episode live...

But I will shamefacedly confess to being underwhelmed this season so far. Not sure what it is - maybe the 'going-through-the-motions' detection sub-plots.

Come on, chaps, talk me round.

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 17:14

No, I agree, I thought episode 2 was the highlight of this series so far - but the previewers are saying tonight is a really good episode and I happen to know that there is likely to be a really big twisty plot event in the episode tonight.

It involves death, if that's a big enough juicy hook for you

And come on, who can resist the joy of seeing Gene deal with the idea of possible impending fatherhood?

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 17:29

But in the meantime, have some blue eyes and some meaningful looks and just for the sheer bloody hell of it, some rumpled shirt goodness from Life on Mars to boot.

procrastinatingparent · 11/05/2009 17:35

Mmmmmmmm.

Mamazon · 11/05/2009 17:37

just realised that today is monday and i am now bizaarly and ever so sadly excited. i can't wait for 9pm now. it is teh hilight of my week. now what does that say about me!

god my life's tragic

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 17:47

Yes, I only remembered this morning and began squeeing, but I have had a really busy week writing other things which have nowt to do with Gene Hunt, in my defense...

[saddo]

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 18:10

Some more favourites while me tatties cook...

Open collar...

And some green shirt love with a bonus Simm in a girly shirt too.

Mamazon · 11/05/2009 18:12

is it really sad that i know exactly which episode those green shirted photos come from?

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 18:15

Nooo, the green shirt is legendary. It is perfectly sane and acceptable to know these things. Not sad at all. And look how damned good he looks in when he's being scornful. grrrowl.

'Let's see how good you really are. Two oxtail soups'
'Food's off'

Mamazon · 11/05/2009 18:17

do you know im so patheticaly in love with Gene that even when Dp recounts some of his more classic lines i go all weak at the knees (they just kinda spring open )

i am tragically excited and keep looking at the clock.

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 18:22

Less than three hours to go, I must see to my children instead of indulging in this wickedness.

(I shall return to the wickedness once they're all safely tucked up.)

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 11/05/2009 19:28

I can only watch first half of the show this evening as need to rush off to work......am wondering if I should just save all Gene lust for tomorrow and watch entire episode on iPlayer whilst I recover from a night shift.....OR.....do I need a bit of Gene to get me through the night??

I have had that sodding Spandau Ballet track in my head for the last 4 weeks! And every time it pops up again I can't help but start squeeing

Kay - am loving those photos - especially the meaningful looks and the green shirt. I remember the green shirt episode so well. Think I could become a serious alcoholic if Gene really ran a bar...........

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 11/05/2009 19:34

Oh and DH and I were discussing the appeal of Gene Hunt whilst we were in the pub on Friday - he cannot understand why we all go weak at the knees for him. He asked me "if I call you Bolly Knickers in a gruff northern voice and stare moodily at you, would it have the same affect?" Sadly, says Mrs JS....I think not ..........but of course I love DH to bits anyway

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 19:37

There's a lot to be said for the ability to stare moodily if I know you've got a heart of gold and cyclists legs, though...

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 20:44

bounces in a ridiculously fangirlish manner

Dh is watching a dull documentary for the purposes of seeing snippets of cricket, but at least it's BBC1, so no overlap.

I think that'll be a 15 minuteish warning...

procrastinatingparent · 11/05/2009 20:49

The real test of whether it is any good tonight is whether it makes me forget about my toothache. Will report back later.

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 11/05/2009 20:54

I don't think He hears my prayers atm, but I shall ask for an abatement for you none-the-less, PP.
