I have it on good authority that they are filming an episode of Dr Who at Cardiff prison key words 'The Master's wife'!!

Apparently the bus wasn't meant to be damaged by the wormhole - until a careless crane operator hit it with a container in the docks in Dubai.....

Tee2072 · 11/04/2009 20:55

I thought that was excellent.

I am going to miss David T very very much.

:: Message for Rusty ::

Am thinking that there may be too many spoilers on here now and I don't have CAT so if mission has been successful could you possibly email me or catch me on another thread? Sorry to put you to so much trouble.

RustyBunny · 11/04/2009 21:23

It's repeated tomorrow on BBC 3 7pm with audio commentary by DT on the red button.

KayHarker · 11/04/2009 21:41

Oh, yes, there's more been laid out than just the ooky-spooky bit at the end about the four knocks, definitely.

The whole 'made for each other' and the 'you're very like a timelord' exchanges were a bit

She's the Rani!

Katisha · 11/04/2009 21:47

I liked the episode but wish I hadn't watched the love-in that is Confidential...
It's all a Bit Much.

KayHarker · 11/04/2009 21:56

Have recorded Confidential for another time. Wasn't in the mood for the all the 'genius' stuff.

But I'm still buzzing after the episode. My favourite special after The Christmas Invasion, I think.

RustyBunny · 11/04/2009 22:42

Definitely a good one - DH liked it too & he is a stern critic being a Classic DW fan from day one (literally, he was watching on 23rd November 1963) and unbiased by what Oggsfrog described as Tennanitis.

I'm still awaiting DD's verdict - she watched it at her boyfriend's, but I know she will not approve of the snogging - she doesn't believe the Doctor should have any kind of lovelife

KayHarker · 11/04/2009 22:48

Ah, well, I was a bit ambivalent about the snogging, as my DM link earlier showed.

But for the first time ever, I think it was actually appropriate, tbh. I thought they did actually have the actual chemistry thing happening that SO didn't happen with Tennant and Kylie, so it fitted a lot better. They'd actually been properly flirting with one another in a believable way, and she was clearly a grab-whatever-is-to-hand character.

KayHarker · 11/04/2009 22:48

oh, the fanfic that comment just created in my head...

RustyBunny · 11/04/2009 22:51

Yes, I think I agree with you.
Can't see Amber thinking that way though - she's still a Classic fan at heart, (we started her on the videos at the age of 7) & much as she likes DT, her 'real' doctor is Tom Baker - can't really visualise him snogging a companion somehow....

littlepollyflinders · 11/04/2009 23:29

That was GOOOOOOD
Have had my faith restored after the xmas debacle disappointment.

PersephoneSnape · 12/04/2009 09:50

i did enjoy it a lot - but agree that loose-lips-ten should rein it in a bit. everyone in the entire universe has got to kiss him, except me and it's not fair! ;)

I am content though. rat a tat tat indeed.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 12/04/2009 11:33

Loved it
Pleasantly suprised with Michelle Ryan too.
However, David - please don't go!!

RustyBunny · 12/04/2009 20:04

Just been watching it again on BBC3 with the commentary - according to David Tennant the 'knock four times' is 'not what you think it is....'

PortAndLemon · 14/04/2009 10:59

(back after weekend of dodgy Internet connection). Hmm. I quite liked that, but I didn't love it.

I thought Michelle Ryan was good, but I wish RTD wouldn't try to do scientific-sounding explanations (far better IMO when SM just skates over the whole issue (e.g. "timey wimey stuff") or in classic Who where they just use random collections of gobbledegook. RTD seems to think he ought to be able to put in more detailed "real" scientific explanations, but they are almost invariably crap (giant ray thingies generating a large wormhole through strange giant ray thingy technology, fine. Giant ray thingies generating a large wormhole through flying round a planet at a few hundred miles an hour, NO! And if the Doctor throws out the crystal power source, what's powering the bus? That smacked of RTD trying to be clever for the sake of it to me). And the fly people seemed a bit tagged on. I'd like to see them developed a bit more. Maybe we'll get a Planet of the Ood -style revisitation in a later series.

Still, reasonably happy. And I did get excited over the trailer for The Waters Of Mars.

And DS (having been reduced to his own state of squeedom by the "Doctor dressing-up kit" that came free with Doctor Who Adventures this week) produced a whole series of drawings of the Doctor (including a series where the TARDIS had been captured by an enormous space pig) including a really quite good sonic screwdriver. So clearly he was inspired.

KayHarker · 14/04/2009 12:47

I thought the stingray thing was a dig at ID stuff, myself. The Tritivores were clearly just there to ramp up the body count.

I actually had a nightmare about the trailer for The Waters of Mars last night that had me waking up at 5am shaking with adrenaline. The actual episode has a way to go to top that, tbh. Gosh, it was horrid - people melting in front of me.

KayHarker · 14/04/2009 12:49

Only just twigged that the four knocks can be foreshadowing the Master too - with his little mind control rhythm thing.
