I have it on good authority that they are filming an episode of Dr Who at Cardiff prison key words 'The Master's wife'!!

My daughter keeps asking when Spiky Hair Doctor is going to turn into... Lumpy Face Doctor. Not a fan of 11, I think.

PortAndLemon · 29/05/2009 17:40

DS doesn't know about the upcoming regeneration. It should be one of his formative cultural experiences and I don't want him to have it ruined by spoilers...

JackieNo · 29/05/2009 18:40

lol at 'Lumpy Face Doctor' .

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 29/05/2009 22:49

Bloody marvellous. Out of my face on Valium for a few days, and it all kicks off.

The new companion - fine and dandy, hope she won't have eyes painted on her hands.

Tennant's Hamlet on the BBC - stupendous, much better than I was hoping for. (and well done the accountants who figured out what a sensible move it was)

RTD's big red reset button of doom.

"A big red button that must never ever be pressed - am I right?"

Meh.

RustyBear · 04/06/2009 20:45

I keep losing this from Threads I'm on, so I have to post something, even if I have nothing to post.

However, I'm sure no-one will object if I just post this....

JackieNo · 06/06/2009 12:44

No objections from me .

scaryteacher · 06/06/2009 13:55

It cheers up the GCSE marking!

oggsfrog · 09/06/2009 20:27

Very nice Rusty.

I've been watching Casanova recently in order to stave off DT withdrawal.

It's the first time I've seen it and I didn't realise RTD and Julia whatsername were behind it.

TwoSunnyDays · 10/06/2009 17:23

I am worried its all going a bit Emo...

UnquietDad · 16/06/2009 15:43

Hello.

Did I miss anything?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 19/06/2009 10:55

Hello I haven't posted for an age and can see things have moved on apace with the intro of the nubile new assistant.

I am reallytrying to remain optimistic in the face of all these young lovlies and just hope that good writing/ storylines will overcome my misgivings. As long as they keep romance in the background Rather than the fore, as that marred my enjoyment of the Dr/ Rose episodes.

Any news on when the next special is Being aired? What about (whisper) torchwood?

OP posts:
RustyBear · 19/06/2009 12:49

Torchwood is 20th July for 5 days apparently.
Next special is rumoured to be November, with the last 2 on Christmas Day & New Year, but I haven't checked recently.

UnquietDad · 19/06/2009 14:24

Next special is Oct or Nov, and 2-parter Christmas/New Year. That's Tennant's swansong. New Doctor and assistant debut around April 2010. Possibly earlier. Season possibly split into two parts (spring and autumn) but we don't really know.

Katisha · 19/06/2009 14:39

Hello UQD. You back then?

Well in this house we have finally managed to cancel the subscription to Dr Who Adventures. Hopeless comic, no content, probably because there is no actual Dr Who on at the moment, and even DS2 realises that we have enough Dr Who pencils, rubbers, rulers and masks...

And anyway - it won't even have pictures of DT in it soon...

Anyone sen Kay lately?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 19/06/2009 18:07

Thank you Rusty andUQD

we were getting the Dr who adventures mag but ds (4) switched allegience to the Transformers for the time being. Mainly due to the heavy promotion of the film on Nick Jnr (knew I should have stuck to cbeebies).

I have tried him with the Sarah Jane adventures but he watched the episode intently while repeating the mantra 'i don't like this mummy' so not sure whether to persevere with that either!?

I wonder which of the specials takes place in Cardiff prison? (dredging up my sole piece of who inside info)

On Radio 4 now...

"On the Outside it Looked Like an Old Fashioned Police Box... Mark Gatiss, Doctor Who writer and fanatic, explores the hugely popular Doctor Who novelisations of the 1970s and 80s, published by Target books. "

UnquietDad · 23/06/2009 11:37

It'll be on iPlayer for those who have missed it.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 23/06/2009 11:54

mark gatiss on Dr who books radio 4 now - very interesting! :-)

OP posts:
bigmouthstrikesagain · 23/06/2009 11:57

Well a time lag in my posting rendered it pointless, still good listening in the current who drought.

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 23/06/2009 12:01

Terrance Dicks - national treasure!

RustyBear · 23/06/2009 12:04

Must listen to that when I get home - we have all those books.
iirc only four of the stories originally broadcast were never published - The Pirate Planet & City of Death by Douglas Adams & Eric Saward's two Dalek ones - Resurrection & Revelation, because the authors weren't able or didn't want to write them themselves, but didn't want anyone else to.

Maybe now Douglas Adams is no longer with us there's an opening for someone else to do it???

I'd love to read City of Death - definitely one of my favourite stories.

UnquietDad · 23/06/2009 12:04

And also the uncompleted "Shada", another Adams story.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 23/06/2009 12:06

Wonder if Mr Gatiss will be considered as such one day?

OP posts:
RustyBear · 23/06/2009 12:07

Yes, that too, but of course that's never been properly broadcast - we do have a video with fill-in photos & dialogue.

btw, if anyone is interested in Classic Dr Who VHS video tapes, we are rapidly replacing ours with DVDs, so they would be free to a good home....

edam · 23/06/2009 12:08

So we've got to wait until November for one poxy special, and then Christmas for the final two? And then we've got to put up with baby Emo-doc and equally doesn't-know-she's-born assistant?

Harrumph. I'll have RTD knowing there are people like my mother who have been watching faithfully from Episode One* who deserve something a little more meaningful than a sci-fi version of Hollyoaks.

*bar a few years at university in the late 60s where she may have had, um, more lively things to be getting on with. Apparently...
