Molesworth · 15/01/2009 19:06

the other one is the bloke with black hair who is probably about 30 but dresses/styles his hair like a teenager

haven't the foggiest what he cooked though

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/01/2009 21:23

yay, my pick won! DH was sure it would be accountant girl, but he was wrong [smug emoticon]

Tinker · 16/01/2009 00:31

I think Liam Gallagher/Johnny Marr was robbed tonight. Didn't like his funny little mouth but think he cooked a better meal that Palate Boy. Think J&G had just decided they liked him. Am glad Top Heavy head woman didn't go through though.

thumbwitch · 16/01/2009 01:14

I have to disagree with you there Tinker, I think palate boy did a better job, even though his reduction was missing! His chocolate fondant looked superb - but I do think his soup wasn't much runnier than Scarfboy's, which Greg commented unfavourably on. Still, I think scarfboy's downfall was to lose the flavour of the main component of his main course, which is a bit daft, innit!

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/01/2009 09:15

arf - he was Johnny Marr !!

OP posts:
GrinnyPig · 16/01/2009 09:43

I though scarfboy's soup looked really unappetising - like a mushroom pate almost. DH and I both thought the woman did well and should have gone through. I think they had already decided they wanted palateboy before they had even tasted his food.

Clarissimo · 16/01/2009 09:50

I took an instant dislike to Accountant Girl, still haven't worked out why (could be that she looks like somebody I know).

Was surprised the one who got through did, i thought it'd be the other chap.

jobschmob · 16/01/2009 10:00

Palate boy is well cute. He can come cook for me.

MommyHasaHeadache · 16/01/2009 11:14

He can come and cook for me too!! Yum! lol I wonder if that's why he REALLY got through??

jobschmob · 16/01/2009 11:16

Can't have hurt!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 16/01/2009 13:08

What was that woman thinking of with her peach and chorizo pastry tart thang?!. Yetch!!.

Glad to see the back of that Johnny Marr lookalike

Tinker · 16/01/2009 18:26

Oh, palate boy was cute. But pea soup (which, I admit, I'm prejudiced about) is just whizzed up frozen peas and some liquid/stock? But I don't like teh sound of mushroom soup either(but do love mushrooms)

jobschmob · 16/01/2009 20:58

He could chuck his first two courses and I would just have him with chocolate fondant on top.

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 16/01/2009 22:23

he is lovely

Did anyone else pick up on the "we have a nice little cook here" comment to the accountant woman? my DH picked up on it before me, quite patronizing.

They were always going to choose palate boy cause he has that "spark" that they are always keen on regardless of who shows the better cooking skills.

Just for once can'tthey just say the three they want rather than this stupid "debate" they have between the final two.

And another thing, how gutted would you be to go out in the "passion" and identification round? its stupid and pointless. Just because Jennifer didn't pore her heart out doesn't mean she wasnt as passionate about it, I always find men are better at bs-ing so they will always perform better in this round.

thumbwitch · 16/01/2009 22:37

I have to admit that I am getting seriously pissed off with this "passion" for food. It's now in my top 5 most hated cliches.

jobschmob · 16/01/2009 22:43

I agree, those bits ARE annoying. Instead I would like to see a bit of the training they are given before setting to work in the restaurant part of it. It gives the impression they just know what to do automatically and they can't can they?

thumbwitch · 16/01/2009 22:45

agree - watching their first attempts would be more entertaining than their trained attempts.

MommyHasaHeadache · 16/01/2009 22:47

I quite liked Jennifer and would have liked to see what else she would have produced.

I record MC on Sky+ and FF the 'passion and identification' round as I can't bear it!

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 19/01/2009 20:41

Anyone watches this bunch of numpties?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/01/2009 20:41

Yes, not brilliant are they

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 19/01/2009 20:45

Now I'm not a masterchef, but I could have done better than potatoes and carrots!

elliott · 19/01/2009 20:47

not very inspiring ingredients though were they?

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 19/01/2009 20:48

Hmm, true. Making me hungry all the same
