Dh took agin the science girl as well - he didn't like her saying that cooking was like science. I can see his point as some scientists I know are completely incompetent cooks (others aren't though!)

perhaps she was thinking of Heston Blumenthal and thought that was a direction to take ?

well, DH and I both were initially wrong about Hawaiian shirt man - we thought he was a goner for sure, until Mr Plod screwed his dish up.

another non-inspiring round though - last week's lot were better!

I incorrectly thought that shirtman would be a non starter, but his menu on day 2 was fab. Shame he couldn't get it finished in time.

I don't think they took sides tonight - they both stroked their chins as if contemplating meaning of universe before picking young laddie.

I too thought that the woman was more accomplished. I think they were dazzled by the boy's amazing 'natural palate'

They'd clearly edited JT's comments about her final dishes to take out his 'but.....' about her flavours I think. She was technically better but they just enjoyed his food more. His pudding was clever but the other dishes he cooked seemed a bit studenty to me. Maybe you had to be there...

I was quite annoyed that curly lady didn't go through purely on account of all the work that she had done and the food she produced at the end of it. I thought the boy could easily have just happened to grill that fish well but yes they did seem to be blown away by his "natural palate".

If it was any other heat I would have said him but I just felt very sorry for her as she had obviously put a lot of thought and work into what she was doing.

not being funny but if your dream is to run a little deli/bistro sort of place do you really need to go on Masterchef? Cant you just open one? It's not as though you'll be honing your bowl o soup and a roll skills in a pro kitchen is it?

I was rooting for benidorm woman tonight, although I can see why they liked PE teacher's 'dainty' style I suppose.

DH and I thought benidorm woman was out the door immediately, until we saw her food - we both thought that Jennifer would be in the last 3 but not go through, until they tasted her food and then we thought, well maybe - bit of a dark horse, they were well impressed with her skills. I think they like to be pleasantly surprised and that helped her through. Don't know how much further she'll go though...

I bet Jennifer is on MN. She just looks the type!
