Hello again!!

OP posts:
pinkteddy · 13/12/2008 21:37

They closed the phone lines early Teeny so I doubt the scores were even added up.

munkeebiznessunderthemistletoe · 13/12/2008 21:38

Sorry- I meant bottom 2 (dance off) not final 2!!!

artichokes · 13/12/2008 21:38

Why couldn't Tom go through?

He could have avoided the dance off altogether if both girls got fewer public votes.

And if he had been in the dance off and had danced brilliantly the judges could have saved him.

I don't get it. The judges pre-dance off scores hold no weight. They are just an opinion. Therefore tonight should have been handled the same as ever.

TurkeyLurkyWithAllTheTrimmings · 13/12/2008 21:38

What a bloody swizz. I bet the dancers are anooyed. They could have turned out any old shite this week and got through.

pinkteddy · 13/12/2008 21:39

It was a problem because they said - your votes will count! People were paying to vote for Tom and they votes just couldn't count - it was a con.

munkeebiznessunderthemistletoe · 13/12/2008 21:39

They had 2 in the final last year when Kelly left, I think it was a snap decision- but a bad one.

munkeebiznessunderthemistletoe · 13/12/2008 21:40

That is true pinkteddy, but someone should have thought of that before the show. I guess it will make for a great final. And I'm glad Tom'll be there.

TurkeyLurkyWithAllTheTrimmings · 13/12/2008 21:40

Agree with artichokes. I'm v peed off as have voted tonight and feel conned.

squeaver · 13/12/2008 21:41

Ironically, the BBC has fixed it to avoid accusations of a fix.

munkeebiznessunderthemistletoe · 13/12/2008 21:42

LOL squeaver!!!!!

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 13/12/2008 21:42

Artichokes - the judges' pre-dance off vote count for half the score. Top with the judges gets 3 points. Top with the public gets 3 points. So it is out of a possible 6 points. (That's just tonight when there were 3 dancers)

Tom had to be in the dance off because he only had 1 point. Even if he got top with the public that would add up to 4. One of the women would have got 2 from teh public and 3 from the judges making 5 and so they would have avoided the dance off.

I don't see how people can complain to Ofcom about it!!

pinkteddy · 13/12/2008 21:43

Yes me too. 3 in the final is always better anyway.

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 13/12/2008 21:44

You can't blame the Beeb if you voted for Tom Tonight as the lines didn't open until after the show was over and it was already known that he couldn't avoind the dance off!! It's simple addition!!

mm22bys · 13/12/2008 21:44

From what I've seen on the Beeb boards, they lOVE this result.

They should have been more upfront right from the start though.

Why is it so important that Tom go through (other than the fact he is the only male left?)

bran · 13/12/2008 21:46

Artichokes, Tom couldn't have avoided the dance off. Even if he got the highest public vote his total score would have been 4.

Tom : 1 + 3 from public vote = 4
girl 1: 3 + 1 from public vote = 4
girl 2: 3 + 2 from public vote = 5

So a vote for Tom was a wasted vote, which is why they are carrying the vote forward I suppose.

They must have been planning to put all 3 forward anyway as there wasn't time in the programme schedule for two dances was there?

Pah!

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 13/12/2008 21:46

I don't see how they could have announced earlier that there were going to be all of them in the final.

If they did it at the beginning of the first show tonight why would they bother dancing at all ... if they did it any later than that then people would complain.

TurkeyLurkyWithAllTheTrimmings · 13/12/2008 21:46

Well wouldn't the woman who got 5 and Tom been in the dance off then?

I still don't geddit

squeaver · 13/12/2008 21:47

I think the BBC pays too much attention to what's on their messageboards.

munkeebiznessunderthemistletoe · 13/12/2008 21:47

It' not whether he goes through or not, it's just that he couldn't avoid the dance off so people's votes were not making a difference to the result.

squeaver · 13/12/2008 21:47

Turkey, the point is Tom could not have avoided the dance-off.

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 13/12/2008 21:47

Turkey Lurkey - the 2 with the lowest scores are in the dance off; not the ones with the highest scores.

thenewme · 13/12/2008 21:48

because 5 points is more than 4

TurkeyLurkyWithAllTheTrimmings · 13/12/2008 21:48

Oh I'm giving up I don't understand the maths. Its like being 12 again and struggling with Maths homework

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 13/12/2008 21:49

munkeebiznessunderthemistletoe - But my point is that we knew that before the phone lines even opened! As soon as Rachel's scores were in, and Tom was 2 points adrift, he couldn't avoid the dance-off.

pinkteddy · 13/12/2008 21:49

Bruce and Tess kept saying -'vote to save your favourite couple from the dance off'. People were voting for Tom on that basis and the maths didn't add up - he could not be saved. Hence BBC on very sticky ground and they have already had to revise all their phone voting policies because of vote rigging issues etc.
