Yes, Fio she probably was just pissed off, I'm sure I would come across even worse if there were cameras in my home - and I haven't even got teenagers to cope with yet! It's probably just a dramatic kind of scene-setting first episode to get everyone interested. I want to see more of the son though, he seemed quite bright and sensitive, LOL at the waving arms around and breaking stuff! Also the younger teenage daughter wasn't featured much so maybe she'll be focused on later.

WendyWeber · 18/09/2008 11:47

Boys, actually they totally represent reality some of the time for most families with kids that age - it won't be like that all the time in their house!

lilolilmanchester · 18/09/2008 11:50

I didn't watch it all, dipped in and out. I felt really sorry for the Mum, she seemed depressed. Otherwise, thought they were a fairly normal family. Admired, and felt sorry for, the Dad saying perhaps if the wayward daughter wanted to live like that she should leave home. It's easy to say get tougher and nail her to the house/kick her out, but it's not that easy. Does anyone on here know them? If so, get the Mum to join MN, even if anonymously - I think she needs some support from the little I've seen.

The mum looked really young.

The Dad wore bad shirts.

NorbertDentressangle · 18/09/2008 11:54

The Mum is actually younger than me and is a Granny

How old is the daughter who has a baby? I was trying to work out how old the Mum must have been when she had her?

Also, is the Dad the Dad of all the children?

Sorry to bombard you all with questions but I didn't see all the show so not sure if this was covered

I noticed their lovely house as well FioFio

I think its pretty normal now to go out that late. 24hr licencing has had a lot to do with that.

Felt sorry for the dad, he's trying to help his wife and give her support but has no idea how to do this or how to relate with Emily.

I want a 14 year old son like that - he was lovely

Aitch · 18/09/2008 12:02

that makes them a distinctly un-average family i'd have thought...

The house is lovely, fio - apart from the brick alley & steps down to the front door, that didn't seem to fit with the look of the inside?

Also I noticed their landing paintwork was distinctly grubby under electric light, which was reassuring as ours is like that too

At least the parents are both on the same side as far as Emily's behaviour is concerned, even if the mother does tend to steamroller over the dad's attempts to contribute.

I loved this.
Dh and I laughed in recognition at many things. ds si a toddler, so we have those teen years to look forward to. I was incredibly awkward as a teen and grew out of it - so will their daughter.
I have to say, they came across really well and very loving.

i also want to adopt the wee boy.

NorbertDentressangle · 18/09/2008 12:12

Thanks for answering my questions.

One more - is dad a SAHD? Profile on the link doesn't mention a job or that hes a SAHD?

WendyWeber · 18/09/2008 12:13

Have just read the bios. Tom sounds fab (he would like a job as DangerMouse) & Charlotte is pretty cool too.

It's the old family constellation thing - they each find a role to play - the grown-up one, the lazy rebellious one, the quiet clever one & the funny one.

WendyWeber · 18/09/2008 12:14

Norbert, he gets up early & goes out in a shirt & tie so I'm guessing he has a job - it doesn't say what though.

Why ever not Fio, get stalking them now as I want to know!

Nbg · 18/09/2008 12:18

I really enjoyed watching this.
It wasnt what I expected for some reason but still, very good.

I think like everyone else, I was an Emily but I never left the house so late at night and didnt go out everynight either.
One I couldnt afford it and secondly, I was too tired from working.
I did pay my parents rent money though.

Tom the son was lovely, in what little bits we saw of him and Charlotte too.
Lovely parents too.

In fact they are a lovely family.

Looking forward to watching next week and I would like to see the eldest with the baby too.
I did laugh when she shot Emily a nasty look on the mothers day lunch

WendyWeber · 18/09/2008 12:34

I laughed when she did that hand-wiggle & point gesture from the sofa, when he came back from yelling at Emily having turned the TV off before

fio, I reckon he's in some kind of middle management, which would make him "social class B" (I used to do market research ) which = middle class these days (ROFL)
