why is she "filth" nt??

nametaken · 17/09/2008 21:40

not filth, sorry, just a knee jerk reaction to her bloody rudeness

shinyshoes · 17/09/2008 21:41

Don't the room look nice

I love Ave Maria, beautiful

geordieminx · 17/09/2008 21:42

I have to say watching the sene from the kitchen IMO they handled it all wrong - they kept on and on and on at her without actually giving her the chance to speak, there is obviously a reason for her calling in sick - other than her being a stropy tennager - the mum asked her 2 questions - how she could afforxd togo out and why she was sick then 10 seconds later launched into another tirade... IMO - "You arent going anywhere until you tell me exactly what the fuck is going on - we can sit here all night"

The more the parents rant on the more she will sit there glazed eyes, until a reasonable amount of time has elapsed, then she'll go and sit on her mothers knee, manipulate the situation with a few tears, everything is back to normal, off she tootles upstairs to get ready - total cop out.

My sister was EXACTLY like this up until a few years ago - actually, until she moved out and realised the world didnt revolve around her.

Car crash television. Not nice

I am not seeing anything that doesn't go on in 1000's of households around the country tbh.

Emily will improve in a couple of yrs time, or maybe they will have to chuck her out to make her step up.

I can identify with the constant text bleeps and ringing of mobile phones that interupts everything.

The parents seem fairly together and are trying their very best.

(so far)

Saturn74 · 17/09/2008 21:46

I think they all seem rather normal.

SciFiFan · 17/09/2008 21:47

With you on the manipulation Geordie.

WW re the mid-life crisis & jealousy comment that was how it was looking early.

Can't decide if this is worthwhile telly or not!

shinyshoes · 17/09/2008 21:48

Me neither SciFiFan it's a bit like BB, it's crap but you can't help yourself

Aitch · 17/09/2008 21:48

me too hc

SlartyBartFast · 17/09/2008 21:52

terrifying, can't imagine my lovely dds becoming like that
cant imagine dh coping!

mum and daughters look totally miserable.

nametaken · 17/09/2008 21:53

Why don't they want her to go out?

SlartyBartFast · 17/09/2008 21:55

cos its her mum's birthday - 40th -

shinyshoes · 17/09/2008 21:56

Nametaken I think they just want her to have ONE night in , go to bed at a reasonable time and get up at a resonable time.

I worry when my children are playing outside I breathe again when they are indoors safe.

I couldn't comprehend my 19 year old daughter going out at 11.00pm.

I wouldn't rest until she was indoors, it's very scary

Piffle · 17/09/2008 21:58

Christ if my 19 yr old wanted to stay in with dp and I
I'd be v v v worried
But they need boundaries
Rent/board for starters
Prepare for real world
Where emily needs to enter into pronto

nametaken · 17/09/2008 21:58

Do parents tell their adult children when they can and can't go out? and what time they can go?

WendyWeber · 17/09/2008 21:58

All of you with lovely small & sweet DDs, I'm sorry to have to tell you that they will become a version of this for a time in their teens.

So take notes now

controlfreakinfreaky · 17/09/2008 21:59

exactly!

nametaken · 17/09/2008 22:00

Errr, I don't think so. Hell will freeze over before I let my kids doss around the house all day and not have a job

WendyWeber · 17/09/2008 22:01

nametaken, as long as the "adult" children are living at home & sponging off the parents then yes, they bloody well should dictate.

If Emily wants to be independent she should move out.

SciFiFan · 17/09/2008 22:01

Is it the norm nowadays to go out late...I used to STAY out late (often all night) but I tended to be gone by about 9.00 at the latest.

I don't ever remember leaving at 11.00 for a night out.

nametaken · 17/09/2008 22:03

So they don't want her to go out, but are they giving her money? Where does she get the money to go out. Or is she on unemployment benefit.

Aitch · 17/09/2008 22:03

D.E.B.T.

SlartyBartFast · 17/09/2008 22:04

luckily for me i had left home by 19 ..i was glad

nametaken · 17/09/2008 22:04

I don't think it's normal to go out late, but I don't actually see what's wrong with it. (as long as you get up for work in the morning) which she doesn't

Aitch · 17/09/2008 22:05

left at 17, can't imagine having stayred longer
