No, Rose is in his future - he just has to stay on the slow path until he reaches the point in the future where he left her (or where the emergency setting on the Tardis would have taken her, Earth 2006?) and then he rejoins her. Couple of hundred (or thousand) years for him, five and a half hours for her. Sorted.

RustyBear · 22/08/2008 17:58

But Rose & Mickey didn't seem to think they could get away in the TARDIS - Mickey says "We can't fly the TARDIS without the Doctor" & Rose doesn't contradict him - so from what was shown in the episode, you would have to assume they were stuck there.

If he had waited of course, he would have had to be careful when he got to the French Revolution (a)not to be guillotined (can a Time Lord regenerate after decapitation?) and (b)to avoid his William Hartnell incarnation who was there messing about with the counter-revolutionaries.

KayHarker · 22/08/2008 21:46

I get round that easy peasy - Mickey said it, Rose is just staring like a lovesick lemon at the shattered time window. She's never that bothered about giving Mickey the respect to explain stuff to him.

And yup, serenity has it with the slow path. He's gone into the past, so he lives long enough to catch up. Bit of a ridiculous notion on his part, but then he often has ridiculous ideas.

My textual evidence for this is - the Doctor's line about '3000 years bad luck' - that's a jolly big hint he expected to get back to Rose. And the 'always wait five and half hours' - well, for what? What would she do at the end of five and a half hours? was it like a patch test for bleaching her hair? No, he meant for her to go into the TARDIS and use the emergency setting, of course.

Now, Hamlet - some rather sinfully enjoyable flashes of lower back and bites down on fist lower abdominals while he was wearing a red t-shirt and doing that manic arms over the head thing.

And very, very funny delivery with Patrick Stewart booming out 'Where is Polonius?!' and Tennant responding, in a perfect mimic of Stewart's voice 'In Heaven!' The swordfight was magnificent, really crash-bang-wallop, and the closet scene was really intense (Throw me on the bed while I'm in silk pyjamas sir? Oh, alright then...)

BlackEyedDog · 22/08/2008 22:53

Well The Doc trusts Rose to sort something out and isn't bothered about What Might Happen Next (an admirable trait I wish I could develop myself) - but I was struck by his burbling about 'The slow path' to M de P that he looked bloody hot for her.

Rose looked like his tomboy pal in that episode.

DT's Hamlet is clearly a triumph.

Nymphadora · 23/08/2008 19:12

I am going on Tuesday!!!!!

Did you go to the pub? Wa s he there?

JackieNo · 23/08/2008 20:09

Ooh Kay, am really looking forward to it. Roll on January.

KayHarker · 23/08/2008 22:05

No, we had to get back for the babysitter. Reports were that he didn't appear at any fangirl-guarded exits anyway. I didn't mind, I had Dh with me, so, you know, chances of a quick snog, already slim, were non-existent.

BlackEyedDog, yes, he was hot for her. Indications in the script lead one to think that he may have already, erm, danced with her. He's an absolute tart in his tenth regeneration. Captain Jack must have rubbed off on him (down, serenity, you filthy-minded slash fan )

serenity · 23/08/2008 23:32

at the allegations

(Ok, you got me there. I've totally trashed any whiter-than-white, pure minded reputation I could possible have had, haven't I?)

Cappuccino · 24/08/2008 10:00

I think he gets starstruck, tbh

he gets all excited cos she is famous

we watched Aliens of London (pt 1) last night

Lots and lots and lots of toothy grinning. Lovely.

(Kay I cannot see for the life of me why you can't find chubby Slitheen woman attractive. I think she is lovely. Like a big old farting evil cake)

serenity we watched the pilot of Supernatural, and good grief! I could barely sleep. It frightened the lights out of me.

And why would someone want to write slash fic about brothers? there are some weird people out there

OP posts:
serenity · 25/08/2008 20:33

But did you like it? (The episode not the naughty slash stuff, which I shall remain silent about)

(Ok, not that silent....interesting fact, the first SPN slash fic was posted on the net 1/2 hour after the screening of the pilot)

Dean Wincester

KayHarker · 25/08/2008 20:39

Annette Badland is much nicer in Patrick Stewart's version of a Christmas Carol - all heaving bosom and over-indulgence. That I could work with.

Cappuccino · 26/08/2008 09:35

yes, we did like it

but I still had no desire to think about them, um, having relations

(see what I did there?)

OP posts:
serenity · 26/08/2008 11:06

Don't worry, it's not obligatory

My S3 boxset arrived this morning, it's sitting next to the computer waiting for me to crack and watch it. I might just sneak a look at the special features......

(oh, and yes, I saw what you did)

serenity · 26/08/2008 11:07

There is a look of fanfic that is both Gen and slash that doesn't involved them having relations btw

serenity · 26/08/2008 11:08

look? lot, I mean

TinkerBellesMum · 27/08/2008 12:47

I was offline for a few days and lost this off the bottom

I just had to post, just read this and the pedant in me is shrieking!:

(once I have sexed Rose into a comma)

Could someone please explain to me how you sex someone into a comma?

I think the writer is starting to forget he's supposed to be writing British as the Americanisms are slipping back in.

(Yes, I'm sad, I'm still reading it! I must love the pain or something )

Going to have to catch up with this thread now...

mygirllollipop · 27/08/2008 13:03

We went to a mini-exhibition for want of a better phrase of classic Doctor Who.
There was meant to be a Dalek that 5-10 year olds could operate but the Dd's didn't get a go. Check out the classic Doctor Who look-a-like on my profile!

Nymphadora · 27/08/2008 16:49

Saw Hamlet last night , it was FANTASTIC!!! DT and Patrick Stewart were getting cheers but the whole cast was good.DT looked absolutly knackered at the end, not only was he doing a 4 hour play as the main character but the mad sections involved a lot of running! and he wore a suit mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Saw some of the cast in th e pub but not DT or PS overheard one from the cast saying the stage door is like a rollingstones gig!

roisin · 27/08/2008 18:51

I am SO jealous! We tried to get tickets too late

I got RSC to send me some posters for school though and I'm going to put up a display in the English corridor.

How's your summer gone/job hunting going?

roisin · 27/08/2008 18:52

Btw Nymphadora my email is not working, so if you need to contact me please text!

Nymphadora · 27/08/2008 19:20

Ah I tried ages ago and last night was the only ones I could get in school hols/weekends.
did email you so will hijack a moment and put it all on here!

I have been applying for anything that fits the 'work with kids' thing and anything else that I think I can do (which so far has been limited to a gardener - but not that positive about that as there is 70+ applicants!, a trainee surveyor and in a bank!)
I have had interviews for AB, JR and TC and not got them.
R primary, N primary,St B and U didn't give me an interview.
Complicated situation with SJB where I got a sort of job offer then lost it then offered it then lost it etc etc
I had an interview for Connexion but got stuck in NYC (actually onthe plane) and missed it BUT they are readvertising and are including me in the new batch.
I did get a job with youth offending which I have taken BUT its only 3-10 hours a week so not enough money.
I still have an interview for B adult day service but its management so its stretching my experience a bit. I have applied for more at AB but my positivity is drifting. I will be sending CVs out at the start of term so see what that brings.

SO complication atm but if you hear anything

Hope you understood all that!

Hi-jack over

roisin · 27/08/2008 19:30

I got most of it! I will text you my other address, then we can keep in touch.

Hope your job search proves fruitful soon.

Cheers,
Karen

serenity · 30/08/2008 22:06
