Shared garden immediate no from me

A garden to be able to have my own stuff would be important to be as well

But people who want a flat must be prepared to have a shared garden because they're often shared aren't they

Iโ€™m watching this at the moment and Phil did mention service charges and leases at the start iirc.

Iโ€™m watching this at the moment and Phil did mention service charges and leases at the start iirc.

I didn't see him mention the cost of each one as they went around though. Or maybe missed it, but it's a big thing in relation to affordability.

I still can't believe how poor the negotiations were! They've always been bad though.

I am watching/listening to this whilst painting and am muttering at K&P โ€˜negotiationโ€™ skills or lack thereof.

So Philโ€™s buyer - the Vendors had an offer of ยฃ420k from somebody who could not complete for 6 months +, so not a strong proceedable position but rather than using Abbieโ€™s strong position - mortgage agreed and proceedable they negotiate for her to pay ยฃ20k more rather than stress her position and stick firm on the ยฃ400k.

On the property with the shared garden, why did they not entertain the idea of approaching the other flat with the shared garden to see if they would like to sell their share of the garden? Probably a no but worth a conversation at least.

Kirstie, is always very poor at negotiations but managed to erode their first time buyer stamp duty exemption by breaching the ยฃ500k ceiling and they paid more albeit they loved the property.
They will be paying even more stamp duty in a few years time when they are desperate for more space, have a couple of children and move again.

Somebody really needs to correct Kirstie on her pronunciation as well, it is really not that hard.

Very good points @Wowthatwasabigstep
When first showing the apartment to her Phil said that it was overbudget but the agent /vendor were aware of her top budget being ยฃ400,000.
Well subsequent negotiations put paid to that ! โ˜น๏ธ
Badly done I agree @Wowthatwasabigstep
I agree too that Kirstie could/should have been tougher negotiating. She normally is.
We are all aware that the London flat market is not exactly booming at present.

Zone4flaneur · 28/09/2026 14:21

The transport in Docklands is all pretty new and really accessible, plus as it's all redeveloped is much easier to navigate with a wheelchair. I think the one she went for is Canada water which is a great commute to lots of places, including accessing hackney and bermondsey and there are shops and cafes etc.

So much of London housing stock is Victorian and narrow with ups and downs or the station has a bridge with no lift etc.

I agree on the negotiation though!

Lightmayo · 28/09/2026 14:22

I like the show as I love watching what people buy in different areas. London for me is always a shocker though. ยฃ500k on that small flat for the couple. Especially if theyโ€™re thinking about kids.

Who was locked out of their own home?

Edited

Figure of speech.

Unable to buy because programmes like this inflate house prices even more.
